Totally got this vibe as soon as I was watching the video - can't articulate exactly why but he seemed way too calm after for what had just happened; he didn't even seem to send a distress while in the plane (though the choppy editing could account for that); he jumped out of the plane with a self-stick; he made sure to land near the plane so he could recover the footage before the FAA/authorities got it; and it didn't even seem like he had tried to find a safer place to ditch the plane (or land). If this was a YT stunt he should have his balls nailed to the wall and thrown in jail. While I'm sure the chances were slim, he still could have killed someone with this stunt.

Whining is getting beaten horrifically in an election you said was in the bag by a guy you call “sleepy”, “creepy”, and “slow”, then like a big baby you claim fraud because big baby couldn’t lose an election despite being the most unpopular president since polling began with the blood of an avoidable pandemic and recession on his hands.
Whining is being the leader of the free world but absolutely never taking responsibility, but knee jerk blaming EVERY failure of leadership on your political rivals, even when they have no political power at all.
Whining is removing all pandemic safeguards, then when the inevitable pandemic hits blaming everyone else and denying the virus exists while doing nothing to mitigate it and actively fighting mitigation efforts tooth and nail because they remind everyone of what a massive complete failure he is as a leader.

Sounds like there was no appeal, Trump’s insurrection records due to be released tomorrow. Courts are closed today, so there’s no chance of another frivolous delay. Get ready to have Trump’s treason shoved in your face for the next few years, if not forever. You know what’s in there is just horrific. That’s why he’s fighting tooth and nail to hide his unofficial personal/campaign actions surrounding his failed coup attempt.

Edit: nope, today he begged for a stay from the (closed) appellate court. It’s possible they’ll grant one, but unlikely since he has no new argument, and it’s settled law that he doesn’t have any right to claim executive privilege because he’s not the executive. At midnight in DC, the point is moot, don’t be surprised if the documents are handed over by 12:01 am.

Loss after loss after loss. Not a good time to be a Trumpzi. (Trumpist Nazi). I’m thinking he might be regretting reinstating the firing squad. On the plus side, he’s going to get the best ratings of his life if they televise it.

Yes, it's funny and, yes, it's important to have a sense of humor. I'd still feel more comfortable about his options as he grows into a young adult if he first nailed the math, and then made the joke.

This would be like me breaking into your house and getting caught in the act of stealing your stuff. You pull a gun and take a shot at me, miss, then I shoot you in the head and claim it was self defense. Please note the "lawful intent or behavior" part. Everything Rittenhouse did was illegal up until the point when he went postal on innocent, if rowdy, protestors. The prosecution is going to nail him to the cross and he won't be coming back in three days.

I don't often say this, but fuck this video.

If you're 25, the end of your life is an abstraction and the whole "there's time to change things!" is a nice balm. When you're 55, your death isn't an abstraction, it's a fact of life that dominates more and more of what remaining time you have left. The awareness of impending mortality is insidious once you're passed 50. It creeps into every part of your life and every decision you make.

Let me teach you one of those amazing words the Germans come up with for describing various forms of existential agony: weltschmerz. Loosely, this is a form of sadness when one realizes what is versus what could have been. This is the compound interest of regrets and choices not made, or made poorly. Not only does weltschmerz grow with each year, its very presence amplifies itself because the more you know what could have been, the more you see what the cost of that absence is. Then, if that's not evil enough, that knowledge focuses the mind on the time remaining and how little you can do to negate the harm done, which then re-amplifies the weltschmerz.

You can slap whatever Hallmark bullshit you need on this to get through the day, but weltscmerz never goes away. It's always there. It's there at 3:00am when you wake up in a silent house and look at everything around you as consolation prizes for races not won. It's there when you see your friends succeeding in a million different ways that you didn't. It's there when you look at 6 million lines of text you wrote and realize you're not going to be Hemingway after all.

So fuck this video. I don't need a cutesy animated memento mori, I've already got a wall clock in my death row cell.
