Testing Your Metal

StukaFox says...

I was riding the bus in Paris, and all the streets in Paris were designed for anorexic horses in the 17th century and fuck you for trying to fit your fat-ass 21st century car down them -- much less a huge city bus. So we're squeezing down this street and we come across a moving truck blocking the road. I, as an America, am awaiting horns, swearing and automatic weapon fire. Instead, the driver stops the bus, turns it off, hops off and goes and has a smoke. The people in the bus were being totally French about it: not a murmur of complaint.

Two years later, I was in Canada and some dude cut off a taxi at a light. Out hops the taxi driver to confront the driver of the other car. I start scanning for my exit once pop-pop-pop / muthafuckas drop gets underway. Instead of a spray of bullets, or at least an amusing fist fight, the taxi driver shakes his finger at the guy and gets back in his cab.

I live in mortal fear of getting shot on the road in America over some stupid bullshit (this actually happened to me once: some asshole in Cupertino cranked off three rounds at my car when I accidentally cut him off). It's so amazing to visit civilized countries and see people acting decent and calm to each other.

Movers broke his stuff

AeroMechanical says...

Not that this guy doesn't have a valid complaint, but when it comes to freight companies and movers, you generally assume that your stuff is going to be dropped, fall, get thrown around, and just generally mistreated and pack it accordingly. It doesn't look like he did a terrible job, but not a particularly good job either. Maybe the company packed it. That's never a good idea. Surely they're bonded at least, right?

Also, though I'm sure it's not always practical, generally the irreplaceable fragile family heirlooms usually *don't* go on the moving truck.

moving truck struck by lightning

That's the smallest moving truck I've ever seen.

What was that flash on the ground that seemed to come from under the vehicle, remaining electrons being freed or something?

Impatient biker gets knocked down a bit

newtboy says...

It looked to me like the trucker was trying to stop the bike from passing, like I've seen many cars do when a bike is coming from behind. I think it was an instance of "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" at best, and he thought he would have the door open in time for the bike to stop so he could yell at them, but miss timed it and hit them instead. That's giving him the benefit of a doubt that he wasn't trying to hit them. I've seen this kind of behavior multiple times in the bay area where lane splitting is totally legal. Some people just can't stand that someone else has an advantage and want to play cop, I've seen them drive down the line between lanes to block bikes from passing, once I saw someone do that to a motorcycle cop, it didn't go so well for them.
I can't think of another logical explanation for the truck to be opening it's door in moving traffic, can you?
I think the biker was being unsafe passing so fast in moving traffic, but it depends on what the law is where this happened. If that's legal there, 100% truckers fault. If not, shared responsibility, maybe 20%biker-80%trucker+-, because a bike passing is reasonably foreseeable, a moving truck opening it's door in traffic is not.

Completely agree. Looks very much to me like he is just starting to move out of the truck when this happens.

@newtboy your telling me he bares NO responsibility for doing something that at best dramatically increases the chances of an accident?

The unfortunate part is that the sift community sometimes loses great creative titles that help make a video 'good,' when dupes are cited. Luckily, that is not the case here.

mintbbb just shows you how effective a title can be.

This looks like it might be getting some traction, so let it accrue some votes before running off the dupeof
