how mushrooms can save the bees and our food supply

@bcglorf
so ignore what the man is saying because of the platform given to him by a group you find to be "mother earth loving hippies"?

i am not going to even attempt to unravel that kind of twisted logic.

Don't associate the term science with the bioneers. The bioneers are a group of mother earth loving hippies. I say that, because fully 50% of the bioneer presentations I've been unfortunate enough to hear on radio all revolve around the 'scientific' importance of respect for GAIA and mother earth. Regularly they will make the link with mumbo jumbo about quantum this or that. They are adamantly and vehementally anti-science and spreaders of massive amounts of deliberate and brutal ignorance.

Maybe this is one of the few actual scientists they've managed to get their hands on, but he did just talk about the 'earth's own internet', so not hopeful.

BANNED TED Talks Graham Hancock on Consciousness Emergence

BicycleRepairMan says...

You may love science, but its little more than lip-service unless you actually take into account what science tells us before plunging into some spiritual nonsense about mother earth or whatever speaking to you when you're tripping.

I do not understand, or assume that anyone understand, all of our biological behaviors, nor exactly how they evolved. But that's my point about my car analogy: I don't know how a modern Lexus is made either, nor am I intimately familiar with the history/evolutions of car-designs in these last 100+ years or so. But, I can still confidently, perhaps arrogantly, claim that I'm pretty damn sure no magic was involved. Because that's not how car production works.

The same thing can be said for biological evolution, there was no involvement by a spiritual goddess that stepped in an made consciousness, that makes no sense, there's no evidence, and its likely to be nonsense for just so, so many reasons.

shagen454 said:

Your EDIT, is exactly what stood out. You still assume that we understand all of our biological behaviors and how they evolved. Look, this is starting to turn into Mr. Science arguing with some New Age Guru and I am starting to see some sort of silly social rift occurring.

Look at my posts. I believe in science, I LOVE science. I have always been a science nerd first and foremost. This is one experience where I think many just have to take the plunge and find out. This is just like science. Light it up and find out. No one could possibly describe what happens with any form of human communication. Test it. I am not trying to sell you anything, go make it yourself, it is easy to make... Then come back and tell me about our brains evolutionary process.

Well, you mention the unborn, yet on the main the thinking in environmental circles is that we have too many humans and that the Earth is unable to support them. Therefore, abortion (over 70 million unborn children murdered in the US since the 70s) is to be embraced, and even more extreme methods of population control are not only openly pondered, but have resulted in mass sterilization programs which have been mercilessly implemented in third world countries. Here are some of the greater atrocities committed in the name of preserving "mother earth":

http://www.thenewatlantis.com/publications/the-population-control-holocaust

Among the intellectual elite, human lives are reduced to being paid the same consideration as one might the lowly cockroach. Contrary to your assertion, it is the Christian who affirms the sanctity of life and the inherent value of every person, whereas it is the opponents of Christianity that affirm infanticide:

Dawkins approves of infanticide

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFWt9cj3uj4

If you would reread my prior comment, you will see that I am in agreement with @RFlagg that we should be good stewards of the Earth. However, the mania of the environmentalists is to devalue human life and subordinate it to their misguided notions of preservation. The sickness of this world is sin, and the only one who can cure it is God. This world will continue to degenerate until the Lord returns because it is in rebellion against its Creator:

2 Chronicles 7:14

if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Bill Nye: Creationism Is Just Wrong!

shinyblurry says...

130 years ago, the assumption in the Western world (where all the science was getting done) was the the Bible was correct. There was no geological scientific evidence either way. Then geological evidence started coming out that the biblical number was way, way wrong. That evidence was challenged and yet survived, so the accepted value of the age of the Earth changed. That's how science works; you change your mind in the face of evidence. That's how intelligence works, in fact.

It's the same evidence. There isn't creationist evidence and secular scientist evidence. They're both looking at the same evidence and interpreting it different. And there is plenty of geologic evidence of the flood. Recently, scientists have started to embrace catastrophism over uniformitarian because the evidence of a worldwide disaster is undeniable.

The evidence that was initially advanced for long ages by Charles Lyell was based on either misinterpretation or outright fraud. He claimed that Niagra Falls was eroding at the rate of one foot per year. He then made the leap that since the gorge was 35,000 feet long it was 35,000 years old. Very scientific. It has been confirmed however that the gorge erodes at 4 to 5 feet per year which means it is most likely under 7 thousand years old.

The "evidence" is obtained by making assumptions about the past that can't be proven, and you can't date the rocks without these assumptions. If you change the assumptions then you come up with much different dates.

It's like quantum physics. Everybody just assumed that all matter was made of solid matter that has definite speed and location, but it turns out that all matter is made up of things with probabilities only. No matter how much Einstein wanted to believe that all matter was solid all the way down, he had to agree that the evidence for quantum physics was undeniably accurate and that matter is composed of chancy waveforms. Anyone who studies it will have to come to the same conclusion. Same goes for what we're talking about.

Everyone who studies it does not come to that conclusion. The hard evidence you have for quantum physics does not exist for deep time. You can test quantum physics; you can't test deep time. All there is a pile of circumstantial evidence all based on the same unprovable assumptions.

"Any evidence...discarded" is misleading. If there's a single outlier result once, it may get some attention or it may be ignored. If there's repeatable experimentation that yields the same contradictory results again and again (dual slit experiment), or a theory that fits all evidence better than current models (quantum physics), it will stir controversy and get a lot of attention. Again, that's how science works.

Every time they measure the age of the rocks they get a range of dates, and then they discard the ones that don't agree with their assumptions as "anomalous". I think I've said this before..bif the evidence were there I would believe it. I used to believe it, but when I found out the extremely flimsy and weaknature of the evidence and realized I would have to put more faith in the scientists than I would the bible, so I decided to believe the bible instead. The whole thing stinks to high heaven but this is a religious proposition to many people. To them, they are satisfied with its explanation of reality and use it as an excuse to deny God. Take note of the awe and reverence and love people pay to the Cosmos and "mother Earth" because it is a religious experience you are witnessing They are seeing Gods glory in creation but they make naturalism their religion instead of acknowledging Him, and worship the creature rather than the Creator.

Psalm 19:1-2

consumerism also sells to the "specialness".
one of the major problems with the psyche of our species is that we're so focused on pursuing our own special self interests to the detriment of the planet and everyone else. consumerism or religion to the individual isn't a big deal. for the collective it is destroying the planet.
shit i'm starting to sound like a broken record.

we are just another species.
i would even go so far to argue that on the whole, we are not an intelligent species. we possess intelligence, and there are those in our species who could be considered intelligent, but most of us just repeat patterns and emotion rules our decisions rather than cognition. Around 80% of humans are virtual automatons.
we celebrate competition and division and feed that to our young, while it is without question that cooperation is how an intelligent species flourishes.
before guilt and shame and expectations that you cannot possibly meet fuck up your life, religion has to first establish that you are something more than a primate, another piece in the collective. it has to first prey upon your ego, your fears, and your self interests. it is an element of control.
Consumerism, before selling you piles of crap, must first convince you that you need to buy that shit, that you deserve it, that you are entitled to it, and that by accumulating more shit to the self, you will fulfill your dreams and your happiness.

Very well said, also the information on Bolivia is really great news, lets hope America doesn't send in troops/arrange assassinations to reverse this fantastic effort.

Sick of the lies
Sick of the war

We’ll never have another, don’t be a silly bugger,
Check under the tree have a more than a stocking stuffer
It make my belly shudder, Don’t want to eat my supper
Come mother earth wanna serve jam and peanut butter

Another latecomer, here comes a great summer,
Arnie Schwarzenegger owns more than eight hummers,
But the trees suffer, too many woodcutter,
Each and everyone is killing off the earth mother
I shouldn’t even entertain the scene, humanity: insanity machine
Admit that it is us that lost this dream, Last generation passed the buck onto me.

Like a duck out of the water, we’re not going where we oughta
Pretend we’re getting tougher, fronting that we got this covered
But the rights are given up ah, given to the new-world-order
Too many men are nutters, taking out sisters and brothers.

Oh why won’t you see for your self, oh why wont you see for your self

Because I’m sick of the lies and I’m sick of the war and I’m
Sick of the lies and I’m sick of the war.

What did I really come here for? should have been among the sons of war
Time is on, and many man come but gotta be a part of the freedom cause
What a mess were in, we’ve got money in the tin,
But a president acting like a totalitarian
Some of them think it don’t matter, why the fat cats are getting fatter
Some of them think the phenomenon is given on a silver platter
What you seek to gain is what you can’t afford, well I’m
Sick of the lies and sick of the war

There’s a young man in an old cafe, rising his coffee cup he says
“I’m holding on to yesterday, until I build a better world some way”

Just let your mind fall away, It doesn’t matter what the haters say
Forget that man has to be this way
Forget that man has to be a slave
Follow your art, say what you’re saying
It’s all around so why are we waiting?
Come on people now we better start celebrating,
People all around, we better start celebrating
People all around, we better start celebrating
Come on everybody, we better start celebrating
People all around, we better start celebrating
Come on everybody, come on everybody now yo

People all around, we better start celebrating
If your mind is not ok then do some meditation
There better be another way until we’re communicating
We got to move faster because humanity is fading
I can see that we need intelligence operating,
We better call Mister T and the rest of the A-Team
We need true intentions and not just faking
We got no time for stalling or procrastinating

Sick of the lies and I’m sick of the war.

Seismic activity has increased along with global warming.
Logic, physics, and probability all say that when you shift the mass of the earth (ice caps melting), seismic activity will increase. And it has, by a lot...in the last 30 years.
The poles are shifting.
This is the earth adjusting.
This is akin to shifting the mass of a spinning toy top.
It doesn't matter what you believe. You can believe in an invisible god-man in the sky too. This is about physics and reality. and it is going to get worse.

The only similarity I see to a spinning toy here is the part about spinning.

You have a deep seeded religious belief that mankind is destroying mother Earth, fine. That doesn't make it acceptable for you to cheaply use the deaths of tens of thousands as a soap box to preach your beliefs at us. It's insulting and despicable, and you should be ashamed of yourself.

A Different View on the Science Behind Global Warming

detheter says...

I generally avoid these shoddy videos. Dramatic music, incredulity, ignorance, and bias runs rampant, unchecked by reason or fact. What can we expect from spinsters who would manipulate people leaning to the right wing in the American paradigm so that large interests can continue to rake in massive profits at the expense of the very people they claim to be looking out for? As far as I am concerned, these events will play themselves out regardless of any action or inaction that people take. There is more than enough evidence and lies out there on both sides to continue the phony culture war, or have legitimate discussions. When the body count starts rising we will see the truth of these matters. There is a third actor in this debate that everyone misses, and that is mother earth, and she will have the final say, and slay libertarians and eco-scientists alike regardless of the time line / influencing factors. I advise you to spend your time being happy, and fully utilizing the amenities / technologies that currently exist, because nothing good lasts forever.

Where do I stand? I believe that man could have something to do with climate change, but if he isn't, we still deserve the technology, industry, and legislation that comes along with potentially fighting the proposed primitive technology future advocated here. Clean, emission free vehicle, to me, stands for "I don't have to pay for fucking gasoline". Solar and wind power, mean to me, "I don't have to pay as much for my electricity and heating bill." Every shitty video, like this one, arguing against modernizing our technology to be more efficient, is a voice calling out to the other Luddites of the world, bitching for an end to innovation and advancement for our species. You are a cancer. You are a tumor. You are literally scum. You type to me on your computer, but by your logic, walking me a stone tablet you chiseled yourself would be preferable, because microchips are a government conspiracy.

Haha. That's awesome. By the way, those are all officer candidates. The enlisted never have the luxury of doing what those ding dongs do.

You think this is wasteful? Ha! Go out with a Naval ship and see how much they waste. I remember being ordered to jettison nearly countless 5 gallon buckets of old "haze gray" paint buckets into the sea.

Also we dumped plastic garbage bags filled with nasty trash into the ocean - and we were told to look out for green peace! Not kidding. I learned pretty early on that in order to be a part of the military, you had to take a big shit on mother earth.

Christian Marriage, Hindu Marriage, Buddist Marriage, Chinese Marriage, Muslim Marriage, Pagan, mother earth goddess - tree worshiping marriage... and Gay Marriage are all equal in law due to freedom of belief and religion.
Choosing to oppose Gay marriage based on Deuteronomy? That's using freedom of religion as a moral guidance to prejudge, and oppose equality.
You can't say, my god says you and your lifestyle is evil and you cannot be legally equal - but I'm not a homophobe, i don't hate you! You're just evil and you do not deserve freedoms.

How does Separation of Church and State have anything to do with me (hypothetically) being against gay marriage? I am neither Church nor State; I can have the opinion that gays should not be married all I want.

A homophobe who says they're not a homophobe is still a homophobe. PHJF's comment is a perfect example of someone being against gay marriage without a drop of hatred for gays. People seem to be getting hung up on the argument that an opinion like the one proposed by PHJF is unreasonable. Whether it is or not is beside the point. The point is that someone can be against gay marriage without being a homophobe and attempting to drown them out by calling them such is a disservice to everyone.
