*audio (Audio Talk Post)

rottenseed says...

I first started with the light stuff — you know — Barney, Sesame Street, maybe some Elephant Show. Then some lady I knew, we'll call her "mom" to protect her identity, introduced me to some shit that blew my mind. At first she pushed the less harsh brand of audio like Mr. Mister but that quickly elevated — as it does — when she introduced me to dealers of the brash, sometimes heady, audio like Billy Idol or Pat Benatar. By then, I was in deep man. I still hung around "mom", but soon started mixing in with the likes of another crowd. Leader of that group we'll call "grandma". She wasn't as gentle as "mom" was when getting me hooked on her personal audio dealers. Dealers like "the Moody Blues," "the Rolling Stones," and finally "Pink Floyd." At that point...it was game over.

I don't claim to evaluate the "soul" put into the music, I'm just saying that she doesn't seem particularly exceptional on the guitar. Her form seems awkward to me, but that comes with more experience.

It also seems as a bit of a put-on to have overly echoing vocals, but I suppose that's a matter of taste.

If this was a guy, it wouldn't have 5 votes, not that I'm judgin' on that, I'm just saying musically this isn't fucking mozart, it's just good.

She sings just fine, but her guitar work is pretty basic.
Very cute though.

Yeah? Well the chord work for the tune as composed ain't rocket-science on the fretboard there wizzzy. Yeah, yeah, a few folks here have seen you play your guitar including myself and guess what?? Your own skills on the guitar come from rote and practice with very little soul or natural talent....
The showcase here anyhow, is her incredibly sincere and lilting voice and the SOUL that resides within her interpretation.
Soooo, thanks for the egotistical observations there,
MISTER Malmsteen!

The World of Warcraft Restaurant Opened in Beijing

TheDreamingDragon says...

I wonder if Blizzard is seeing a dime from these Homages, using their market force to promote this restaurant. Considering how well China respects the Creators of copyrighted material,I doubt it highly. And such a lame attempt at cashing in on World of Warcraft too. Murals,Big TVs. Unworthy.

Now if I were Blizzard,I'd outshine this huckster's game of an eatery in China and make their own Themed Restaurant chain. I've taken people with kids to places in New York City that are special effects extravaganzas with something "interesting" going on at about every 15 minutes. One consisted of a spaceship ride to an alien world,al la 1950's sci fi flicks.and another was called Jeckle and Hyde's
Adventurer's Club where you eat in a supposed Gothic mansion devoted to hunters of the macabre run by the esteemed Dr. Jeckle, who has a cute animatronic transformation into Mister Hyde I'd imagine several times a night. That's the idea of it: having a crew of actors interact with the customers as Magic Mirrors,or a diver speaking from a shark head mounted on the wall.3 tiers overlooking a wall of animatronic Ghoulish delight, little shows, interesting things going on all the time, here and there.

Now try that with the Lore of World of Warcraft as the theme. Maybe a several vinette plot acted out with stage swordfighting and spells special effected to life. There is also a franchise called Medival Times that has horses jousting and the knightly ambiance to boot. You sit as spectators to a 6 course dinner while a show of several acts is going on in the middle. Warcraft Dinner theatre. Both types of show have their advantages. The "stuff going on all the time" thing allows for walk in traffic,so a constant flow of money,or the Super Spectacular you sell like a Play, for a one performance ticket maybe 60 bucks a pop. With Official Blizzard merchendise at the Souvenier stand!

It could work well.It would work well. Will somebody tell somebody about this so something can be done?
KKTHXBYE! LOL

Police Video: No Blood, Bruises On George Zimmerman

quantumushroom says...

This video is meaningless without time stamps. I've heard it was taken 4 hours after the event, more than enough time for Zimmerman to clean up. Is there no record of anyone anywhere treating his injuries?

-----
Please enjoy the Evil Zimmerman Theory, based on the idea that Zimmerman planned to corner and execute a minority, which is the radical left's consensus:

1) Zimmerman sees the target (Martin) and decides to directly confront him.

2) To cover his ass, Zimmerman calls 911, creating audio evidence of the encounter. Because his judge father is so beloved that every single cop on the force will hide or distort all forensic evidence in his favor, he's not worried. Also, because he "owns" the police, Zimmerman doesn't care if they catch him in the act (or beat him to the target).

3) Without knowing 100% if Martin himself is armed (or working solo), lone vigilante Zimmerman walks/runs within audio range (20-50 feet?) of Martin and starts yelling racial slurs to get Martin to attack him. He yells the slurs with confidence, since the 911 operator will scrub any lines from Martin like, "Mister don't shoot!" or "I'm unarmed!"

4) Zimmerman has lied to 911 about being lost, he knows exactly where he is, and he knows when he confronts Martin, it will be in a place Martin has nowhere to run. Zimmerman also knows that even if there was an escape route, instead of running away, Martin will take the bait and attack him.

5) Before all this Zimmerman has drawn his gun and put in his pocket (or already has it there). He says some more things to get Martin to attack, and Martin charges him. Zimmerman has to very carefully time this. Shoot too soon (outside of 25 feet) and it looks like what it is, a planned hit. Wait too long and Martin will get the drop on him, beat the shit out of him and probably kill him in an adrenalin-filled rage, with or without taking his gun away.

6) Zimmerman gets lucky and shoots Martin once around 10 feet. Even though he has "diplomatic immunity" through owning the local police through family ties, he doesn't bother emptying his gun into the fallen Martin to end the slightest possiblilty that Martin might pull through and testify against him.

7) Zimmerman has no idea how many witnesses--if any--heard or saw the ruckus or possibly even filmed it. He doesn't care: the police are backing him up. He flops around in the grass and whacks his head a few times, drawing blood, but just enough that a backup alibi about a scuffle could go either way. He knows his father will lie for him, but the lies do have to be consistent.

-------------------------------

The Evil Zimmerman Theory will remain theory until the forensic evidence about shooting distances/angles/et al. is released.

Never encountered Mr Rogers before and have to say his very disturbing. Beyond creepy, is this a spoof trailer of a horror movie?

You're kidding, right?

I can understand when you're not a child it seems weird. That's not really the guy who plays Mr. Rogers fault though. He had to read off of a script that was vetted by child psychiatrists. Even if he improvised a word they had to go back a re-record the scene as it was written and vetted. So some of his wooden line delivery and carefully chosen wording does seem a bit odd to me now. When I was a child though, he was my neighbor and I loved watching him.

Growing up in Canada without cable, I seldom watched Mr. Rogers (we had Mr. Dressup ) so I can understand how his demeanor can seem a little... different than how most people operate on television or in person. I found the way Mr Rogers spoke a little hard to get used to, but over the last few years I've come to appreciate the way the man can speak simply and directly, right through the television screen. His words can be simultaneously piercing and comforting, yet always kind.

Without the sift I'd never have discovered the kind of impact he has had *promoting honesty and good nature over a generation of children and grownups.
