Ontario had a similar problem like this in the early oughts. They created a program which rewarded and financed people who'd go into skilled labour and it is a skill. There was a big problem in Toronto in 02' where there were maybe four to five mason workers who were worth their salt. They knew it and charged insane prices. No one was angry at them though, they were the only game in town and they all knew each other.

Everyone did the math and realized they'd have to retire. So, we put together a campaign to promote and help students enroll in Skilled Labour courses. It has been improving in Ontario, the numbers aren't in on it yet, but it looks like it is getting better.

I love that Mike Rowe did this. It is something that afflicts Canada and the US. Simply put, we don't make our own things anymore and we're starting to forget how to build our own things.

I always see a little bit of Ernest in Mike Rowe.

In the face of skyrocketing tuition fees in Britain, I wonder, how many manufacturing jobs have been "off-shored" there in the past few years? I wonder, how the export of those jobs has impacted the morale of the worker?

And yet I can't help but think of Mike Rowe's words here, and wonder, is it like this in Britain too?

Saw that on Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. If you just spit into the water, they react the same way. (It's unclear, however, if the raw onions you had for lunch would amplify the intensity of their response.)

True, 10 years ago saw a job posting of a well known Swedish telecom that wanted people under 25 with a masters in computer engineering and at least five to ten years of experience in the industry.
To this date i still wonder if they ever managed to find one with those qualifications.

This same program airs in the US with Mike Rowe narrating. Same graphics, same guests, same narration, just read by a different guy. As much as I love Mike Rowe, why do we do this?
