It's Illegal To Feed The Homeless In Florida

enoch says...

@newtboy
whoa whoa scooter..slow yer roll.
i lived in lauderdale and there aint NOTHING conservative about that joint.huge gay community AND a huge new york jewish community.
so yeah..liberal.

and rich.im not talking "kinda rich" im talking 'lets pull our 5 story yacht to have dinner on an over-priced intercoastal posh eatery" (which i worked at quite a few).

so i dont know what set you off, when i am speaking from actual experience.
was it the word "liberal"?
ok..let me rephrase...
obscenely rich liberals who dont want to actually SEE poor, homeless people.
they want them..you know..over there------------>
the whole "not in my back yard" thing.

yes..they donate handsomely.
yes..they gift furniture and other essentials.
yes..they help sponsor food drives (but over there------->)

so im not saying they are bad people.
i am saying they are hypocrites.
because THEY are the most vocal in local government, and while they may be generous in their charities they are also the ones who push to get those icky, unshowered homeless people out of plain sight.

cuz homeless people are icky.
what would their vacationing austrian family think???

and since tourism is the MAIN source of income in the lauderdale/boca/west palm area, the local government does what it does best.

criminalize the poor.

so it wasnt a case of "starve the poor".
it was a case of "hey,we see poor people..and in PUBLIC"

the horror......
poor people...
in public...
they must need therapy now.

i live on the west coast now (and not the cool naples west coast) and yes..this bunch of dimwitted morons who retired from middle management in order to over pay for their golf privileges and get all their news from FOX are exactly the demographic you are talking about.

not to mention the gulf coast seems to be a white trash mecca.

and yes..there IS an evangelical baptist church on every corner (true story).

and it is with great sadness that i have to admit to being neighbors with these very same dimbulbs who just re-elected rick scott.the same man who paid out the largest medicare fraud in HISTORY!

so thanks for reminding me i live in a mudpit of retards....thanks newt.

im gonna go crawl into a ball now and cry myself to sleep humming the doors "this is the end".

Who Saved thousands of jobs? Why, it was Obama!

Rock me, Sexy Jesus!

Dude, seriously, nobody is buying your BS. How in the hell can Obamacare cost millions of jobs when it's not in effect fully, and unemployment is decreasing? *DECREASING!!!* You have no evidence. You have dubious claims based of crackpot analysis that are there to reinforce your delusions about reality. You WANT to believe that's true, and a quick google search where a bunch of rightwing think tanks and media outlets threw up a bunch of crap reinforced it. I could try to google stuff to show it's helped CREATE jobs if I wanted to on liberal think tank pages, but I'm not going to, because I don't have a preconceived outcome I want to be true. If Obamacare works, great. If it doesn't, it doesn't. For the record, I'm not even saying it won't cost jobs. I'm saying it's ridonculous to describe the impacts of a program that's not even fully implemented yet on a complex economic system!

So I guess Reagan was a dirty commie for bailing out Chrysler?! You're arguments are absurd! Your solution to our economic problems was to let Chrysler and GM go bankrupt and balloon unemployment beyond the 10% that it was?!?! Do you have any idea how macroeconomics actually work?! There's a reason why Reagan and Obama both bailed out Chrysler. Had Reagan been president, he would have bailed GM out, too. You know why? Because thankfully, both men when push comes to shove threw ideology out the window on the really big things and did what was best for the country. Lord knows I objected on principle that the banks got bailed out, but it had to be done for the good of everyone. Here we are, several years from those decisions, and unemployment is declining, and the economy is rebounding. You can link as many right wing articles as you want as snarky as you wish to be, but guess what - the policies worked. And I'd say the same thing to liberals who objected to the bank bailouts, too. But the bottom line is the policies are working.

Sorry, but you're wrong.

>> ^quantumushroom:

Call an ace an ace - this worked. Obama continued a working policy.
Taxpayers on the hook for billions they'll never see recouped: NOT success. These same companies expecting the same bailouts again down the road? NOT success. While we're on the subject: Medicare fraud to the tune of 60 billion EVERY year? NOT success.
Bush was wrong and His Earness was wrong. These corporations should have filed for bankruptcy.
And stop with the Obamacare costing millions of jobs. You don't have any evidence to back it up.

SIGH.
These weak sauce "success" stories are nothing more than obamedia shills defending their king.

P.S. LIBERALS run Detroit and have for decades. Until that changes, it has NO chance.

Answers your question about Bush approving of the auto bailouts.
...the left would be howling about their obvious failure.

Meaning if Bush were President now, the left, using the same exact stats, would declare the bailouts a failure. Which, by the way, they are.

Didn't Bush make those bailouts? I mean weren't they done up but Bush people?

Bill Gates: Raise taxes on the rich. That's just justice.

Socialized medicine FTW!

I have a friend in London who is pretty sick suddenly with a mystery illness (which happened when he flew to LA to meet Simon Cowell.. Hmm)

He went to the doctor, who put him in an ambulance and took him to Euston Hospital. They gave him a barrage of tests, and a week later brought him back in for some more specialized ones. He's waiting for the results now, hopefully he'll be fine.

How much did it cost him? NOTHING.
How much is he stressed about money? NOT AT ALL.
Does he feel like his society cares about his welfare or how much cash can be made off his suffering and death? GUESS.

>> ^Auger8:

Sorry but you obviously don't understand anything about Medicare fraud, because virtually 100% of Medicare fraud is perpetuated by the Doctors themselves NOT the patients.
Don't believe me look at your last hospital bill and ask them why it cost you $100 for a pillow $300 for a blanket $1000 for a pair of forceps, $500 for a meal.
I get shots at my doctor for pain that cost me $2500 a shot I asked the insurance company why they cost so much and they said they were listed as "experimental" so I asked my Doctor what they were and he told me they were just normal lidocaine shots like a Dentist uses, they probably cost the Doctor $20 bucks each.

Blood Money [FULL]

Stormsinger says...

My biggest question is, why did this take so long to come up? Shouldn't this have been aired years ago?

Not that a candidate being involved in Medicare fraud seems to be any problem for Republican voters...look at Rick Scott. It's hard to make a clearer case than his.

And last time I checked Doctors don't need welfare.

Just Medicare fraud costs us 60 billion dollars a year. A YEAR. And no one seems to give a damn. Do you? So yeah, the "poor" with their two cars, appliances, 3 tvs, and most owning their own homes should be paying more than ZERO. Maybe they'll be less tolerant of their brethren grifting the system.

That's kind of silly. I mean, here is a person that would be affected negatively by the tax adjustments he's proposing for the cause of aiding the US...and yet here you are, a nobody, with no money, nobody knows who the hell you are telling him that he's wrong. He's telling you that nobody in the super rich community is paying enough. He knows. He knows a lot better than any one of us. I don't get why people like you side with the uber-rich that don't want to pay more in taxes, unless you are a wealthy miser yourself. To be honest I don't even have a problem paying the taxes I pay. And increasing my tax bracket certainly isn't going to keep me from trying to make more money. The only thing I care about is where the money goes. That's where my distrust kicks in. Spending on a country's needs is fine, but squandering is not.
I do agree with you on the point that it shouldn't all be going toward social programs. Especially ones that have no way or desire to stop people milking the system. >> ^quantumushroom:

No, I would say most of the sifters make more than me, for now. My beef is what you and apparently Gates think the guvmint is going to do with the "extra" cash, since the bastards already make and borrow on their own, at our peril. Remember that magical trillion Obama spent with no results?

So, let's get this straight... CBS is part of the liberal media, and can't be trusted. But then QM sites a CBS article, so THAT should be trusted, only because it makes his case.

Please. CBS, just like the rest of the media, is tilted towards sensationalism. Overstate the fraud estimate, and it's more sensationalist.

I see nothing in that article that proves medicare fraud is $60 billion a year.

About the statistics for the poor, that was written by the Heritage Foundation. Not exactly objective information there. But oh wonder of wonders, even by their own words, the majority of people considered to be poor don't own their own homes! Thanks QM for proving yourself wrong, just like I said you were.

America's "poor" are the wealthiest poor in the world. Most own their own homes, have two cars, air-conditioning, 2 computers, 3 TVs, etc. And that's on top of "free" food and health care.
I'm not so cavalier as to believe losing 60 billion dollars EVERY YEAR to fraud, waste and abuse means nothing, but it really highlights the liberal mindset. When you're taking someone else's money at gunpoint, you really don't care how hard they had to work to earn it.

Like Spitzer said to Kibbe, "You're so wrong on so much of that I don't know where to begin"
You're either incompetent, deliberately lying, or both.
Speaking for myself, by QM's deluded logic, I obviously don't live in America, because I don't even have HALF of what QM claims the poor have.
But that can't be....I'm a public employee, I should have 10 cars and 5 homes if that were true.

What's your point QM? As others have already said. Proving that there is fraud does nothing other than show that things need to be improved. But that's not what you want to do, you want to slash the budget. Slashing budgets doesn't fix fraud...fixing fraud fixes fraud. Pretty basic concept there. It's really quite disappointing. Conservatives cry all the time about how they want efficient government...but they have some pretty inefficient ways to do it.

As to your second link, nice try, but The Heritage Foundation is an obviously conservative movement and thus, obviously biased. But let's go simpler than that. You...and THF made the claim that the "poor" have their own home, have two cars, air conditioning, two computers and 3 TVs. Fortunately, I qualified MY remarks with "Anecdotally" You do know what that word means right, QM? I know it's a big word and conservatives don't like big words, you like manipulating issues with sound bites, I know, but you guys hate big words. So I never claimed that my experiences speak for everyone. So nice try at a strawman, but QM fails again.

But more to the point. THF is full of shit, or their definition of poor is way the heck off or poor compared to Beverly Hills or something . While I do have air conditioning, I rent, I certainly don't have two cars, I certainly don't have two computers or three TVs and I know I'm doing FAR better than most of the people I work with. And again, I work in State Gov't and contrary to your marching orders from Fox News, we don't make a whole hell of a lot. So if, according to THF, I'm apparently lower than poor, but wait, I'm doing better than most of my peers, so they have to be even lower than the lowest of the poor...so again, either THF is incompetent, or much more likely, since THF is clearly a conservative, thus biased, organization, they are either exaggerating, or outright lying.

You clearly don't know what poor is, QM. You lose...again.

Troll elsewhere

See above post with links for where I get my facts. Your google must be broken. I entered medicare fraud, 6 billion and found plenty. And CBS isn't exactly FOX.

That's great and all, but the entire country would be better off if our society would do the right thing and admit going gung ho towards a free market is short sighted, and destructive to everyone in the economy.

Seemed to work well before the socialist rubbish beginning in the 1920s. The destruction began with a huge all-powerful federal mafia spending more money than it takes in. Now that the bill has come due, the socialists want to attack the economic engine itself and not the dopes redlining it, namely, socialists.

So why not get better at busting medicaid fraud?! There's police fraud, but no one is going around saying we need to abolish police. There's insurance fraud, but we don't make insurance illegal. I could go on and on.

I don't have an answer for you why this fraud isn't policed better, except that policing costs money and thugverment prefers zero oversight and accountability whenever possible. I would simply make medicare fraud punishable by death.

I'm chained to the facts. As I'm not a left-winger, I must make decisions and form opinions based on reality. If the left had evidence that nations can tax themselves into prosperity, or that socialized medicine is efficient, innovative and doesn't cause care rationing and doctor shortages, I'd be for them.

Congress has been taxocrat-controlled since 2006 and then of course there's the Kenyanesque Hawaiian since 2008. Why have things only worsened since these clowns took power? Hmmmmmmmm....

No Evidence Anyone Owes Taxes (Blog Entry by blankfist)

Taxes shmaxes.

The real problem with thugverment has been its devolution from guardian of the rule of law to an indefensible, unaccountable gangster leviathan with none of the charm of the real mafia.

Taxes are wonderful? So is NOT losing 60 billion EVERY year to Medicare fraud, then demanding even more money from taxpayers at the end of a gun.

Dennis Kucinich Raises a Valid Point on Health Care

Duckman33 says...

"For every liberal pissed about spending on missiles and bombs, there's a conservative pissed at 9 billion lost PER YEAR on Medicare fraud."

Hmm, did we forget about those $400 toilet seats, etc. that the government wastes on military spending? I just talked to a guy that had been working over in Iraq and he said there are so many contractors/businesses over there ripping off the government it isn't funny. Even the guy he worked for was under investigation by the FBI for fraud.

Dennis Kucinich Raises a Valid Point on Health Care

Quill42 says...

"Because providing for a common defense is written into the Constitution, while taking care of citizens' every need (and want) is not."

While you're certainly entitled to your opinions, you aren't free to revise the Constitution to leave out the portions that are inconvenient to your argument. Let's go to the text:

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
...
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States"

So yes, "provide for the common defense" is written in the Constitution - but so is "promote the general welfare." Stepping away from your straw man argument about catering to "citizens' every need (and want)" and getting back to health care - I think it's clear that improving the health of the US falls well within the bounds established.

"...the huge, tyrannical government the South feared during Civil War days is now a dangerous reality."

You mean that huge, tyrannical government the South feared would regulate their slave trade? You don't see the irony in siding with the pro-slavery South in order to convince people to "defend liberty?"

"...there's a conservative pissed at 9 billion lost PER YEAR on Medicare fraud. "

Red herring issue - but hey, if you really want to go there let's do the comparison. On one hand, according to you, conservatives are pissed about 9 billion lost PER YEAR on Medicare fraud. On the other hand, you have liberals pisses about $605 billion and 4,276 troop deaths due to the fraudulent war in Iraq. Who do you think has the moral high ground?

Dennis Kucinich Raises a Valid Point on Health Care

quantumushroom says...

Because providing for a common defense is written into the Constitution, while taking care of citizens' every need (and want) is not.

When taxocrat FDR decided to rewrite the Constitution in the 1940s to falsely imply government may spend on anything it wanted with no restrictions, he brokered a deal with the devil. That bureaucrat-run devil appeared to bail everyone out then (altho it's more and more evident that "government help" prolonged the Depression) just as the mafia appears to provide "protection" for those it bleeds.

The devil has been running wylde for 60 years now, and the huge, tyrannical government the South feared during Civil War days is now a dangerous reality. For every liberal pissed about spending on missiles and bombs, there's a conservative pissed at 9 billion lost PER YEAR on Medicare fraud.

Put another way, a government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you have, and will do so sooner than later.

A question for the Keebler Elf of Communism: if government does things more cheaply and efficiently than private enterprise, why stop with just taking over health care? Just take over everything like the soviets did. Oh, wait...

Now hating on me for revealing to you these grim truths, that the Wizard of Oz is really just a bumbling but well-meaning fool behind a curtain, is a waste of time. You don't have to believe as I do, but until you stop believing government is the Savior and start understanding job creation and defending liberty lies in those grasping things at the ends of your arms, you are screwed. WE are screwed. I raise my beer to you...
