Ok, The reality of replacing roads at this point is near impossible. the Gradual replacement makes sense. Consider starting with parking lots.
Parking lots, then the odd connection between parking lots, and then public spaces, (I like the Time Square idea). but the project has huge merit.

Forget about the small time claims, like melting snow. Think of real time uses, like Stadium parking, Shopping Malls, Playgrounds.... Fast food restaurants, Wall Mart Parking lots...

Stop banking in the 19th century people. I can honestly count the number of times I've used cash in the last year on one hand.

I constantly see credit card companies attempt to prey on people in malls or with mailouts. Hell, they did it to me when I was young and stupid. When I started work, I got a credit card with a $500 limit on it for travel and expenses, etc. Less than 6 months later the bank had increased the limit 4 times to over $3000. If I was smart I should have refused each increase, but like an idiot I basically looked on it as free money. Suddenly I was paying a fortune in interest and struggling to clear the card. Every penny I earned went on it, and then I'd rack up the bills over the next month again just to live.

But credit cards are great if you know how to use them. Eventually I paid mine off and now I live completely off it; fuel, groceries, the works. I pay for everything on it, and I get reward points that easily cover the cost of the annual card fee. I make sure it's cleared every month. Meanwhile, my salary sits in my bank account offsetting my mortgage. Now it literally is free money.

I actually feel kinda bad, because essentially people who are bad with money and run up credit card bills at 20% interest are basically subsidising my card for me.

This video was touching on much more than smiling. That being said, it can be annoying when people TELL you to smile. It is a bit rude and sometimes embarrassing to single someone out like that especially if you don't know them or what they are going though.

Edit: Also, it doesn't take a large city like New York for constant cat calls to happen. Since the age of 11 I found it awkward to walk or ride a bike to the mall or any other crowded area as I would get honked or yelled and that's coming from a medium/small city in Montana. I'm glad to now live in a place where people typically respect each other's privacy in public.

When I drove over the ass end corner of a late 80s BMW in the parking lot of a shopping mall while making an improper tight turn. All I could do was leave a note and go on my way.

If the guy actually thought he could get away with cutting on the road without a permit or some form of paperwork and backtrack responsibility.. that guy would be pretty stupid, most people that do that work know there is a paper trail.

When Nirvana came out I was just beginning to transition out of a very sheltered church every Sunday country music loving family. I remember seeing the Nevermind album in a bin outside a music store in the mall and laughing at the absurdity of it. At the time I was rebelling at the weird sounds and antics of country music but I was also rebelling against Grunge music from the thought of it being to popular and trendy among the social outcasts of my own peers that I did not yet identify with. I had started to listen to our local oldies station and was really into the Beach Boys Pet Sounds album when I heard that Kurt had died. Immediately after his passing Mtv would play unplugged quite regularly and thats when I found my appreciation for Nirvana. I became one of there biggest fans which led into other bands like Stone Temple Pilots, Shamshing Pumpkins, Cranberries, Weezer and then later into bands like Radiohead, Pink Floyd, The Pixies, and the Flaming LIps. All my musical taste has been shaped and guided by this one band.

I swear to whatever is swearable upon, when I saw this movie in the theater at Arizona Mills mall, there was a waterfall scene like this with grappling hook and all, but Jar-Jar did NOT go over the edge.

The Pakistani government cannot be seen, publicly, to condone drone strikes. However, given the carnage being done by the taliban, which they are finding difficult to contain, behind the scenes they actually do.
Terrorists existed long before drones and to believe that ceasing their use would reduce terrorism is naive and dangerous.
Manned or unmanned - and no matter what care is taken - weapons cause collateral damage. But these weapons can be highly effective, as was demonstrated in the "taking out" of the pakistani taliban leader last week.
If the terrorists had the same technology they would, certainly, use it. At the moment they are restricted to suicide bombers and maniacs with AK's who massacre innocents in schools or shopping malls etc. If/when they acquire chemical, biological, or atomic weapons you will see just how "restrained" in there use they truly are.
All weapons can be used for evil. The difference is, who controls them and how they are used. You just have to ask yourself, who would you prefer to hold the military advantage?

In the interest of full disclosure is this observation from the Washington Times. Notice the quote from one of the Park Rangers.

The feds closed access to the parking lots this week, even though the lots are jointly owned with the Mount Vernon ladies. The rangers are from the government, and they’re only here to help.
“It’s a cheap way to deal with the situation,” an angry Park Service ranger in Washington says of the harassment. “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”

Sounds like mall ambiance.

Skaters are just people who enjoy a sport. A skate park is a TERRIBLE place to let a tiny kid run around. It's like letting them run around on a bike lane.

Edit: I didn't realize it was a normal park. Knowing that, the skater did make a dumb ass mistake.

I grew up in an area where we didn't have a skate park but we always went to a business during their closed hours (the ones that allowed it) or buildings that had been abandoned. In most towns, places like malls and public parks would get the cops called instantly so I don't see why they even tried skating there.
