i hate stupid surprise videos. it's not "funny," it's just like having someone behind you scream suddenly into your ear. if someone did that in real life i would likely punch them. it's really obnoxious to purposely make videos doing this

Get an AC adapter for your camera if you can. If you are planning to shoot purely to make video you can generally set your camera to it's lowest resolution and be fine. Most cameras' lowest resolution JPG files exceeds that of HD 1080p. If you are not shooting RAW so you should be fine for memory. If you can leave your camera in a secure location you may also be able to tether it to a computer and have the files directly dumped to a laptop/desktop hard drive.

I am glad that the truth about the clip has been revealed.
As some of you may guess, I am the one who filmed the clip.
and yes I have tons of proof to back it up, such as the original full quality clip, and pictures and videos of Matt Lake (mullet). Also have pictures of mullet in the hospital which I will get from him problably within the next day or so.

I wasn't able to post on here because I didn't have an account until now.

I don't think that raising the escape threshold is a good enough solution.

While there are many, many videos between 10-12 (http://www.videosift.com/search?q=&t=v&u=&s[]=s&o=hivotes&vmin=10&vmax=12&sh=&l=&n=&b=&submit=Search) it would still not touch the underlying problem, which is that quality is overlooked and quick-fixes are rewarded.

I think we need to devise a different way to measure quality that includes other parameters (although, it's a shame that we'd have to sacrifice transparency).

For instance, number of unique views could be a factor, number of promotes, number of begs, number of comments and so on. There is also a grave issue with time zone preference, which is a shame. What we could do, is to make videos only submittable in peak hours, so that a queue outside the queue was created and in peak hours the video was thrown on to the queue, or something like that, I'm just brainstorming (or brain-whisking in my case).

I think we are all passing judgments on a situation we have very little information on. *shrug*

I still think it was cool, and totally one of the best audio clips I heard in ages. But then again I come from a family where people yell at each other all the time, so my outrage meter is fairly mild towards this.

I worked on making videos and it would also piss me off when someone fucked with the lights/scenery/etc mid way through a shot. It's just ridiculously unprofessional so I kinda understand. Bale says in the clip it's not the first time the DP did this.

Still I think this movie will suck either way, I mean motorcycle tron like robots? Godzilla bot? Will wait for DVDR torrent thank you.

Figured I should jump in here and say thanks to everyone for their compliments, Thank you.

The video fell together nice and easy, I cut it and added music in about an hour.

The camera is a Nikon D90 for those interested and is a fantastic DSLR still camera and good as a video gathering device, takes lots of caveats to make video look good, so I certainly understand Farhad2000 reluctance to endorse it as a video camera. It shoots video at 720P @ 24fps and that along with a lens that has a short focal length gives it that warm film feel.

Already looking forward to next years sift-up, and by the way If anyone wants to send along a plane ticket (round trip) to London I would be glad to shoot for their up coming sift-up as well

I'm just looking for the point in a lot of this. What is the overall objective in making videos/comments that are designed specifically to insult members of various religions? Is your goal to convert those people to your "correct" belief in atheism? If so, then why? If that is your goal, it's a hypocritical one

I'm inclined to agree, however I found it enjoyable enough. It's certainly more effort than I've seen with most people trying to put together a dr demento song video! Even if the timings off.

I -loved- the butterfly clip, though. I want those wings.
