This is far from taking 30 sec off a much longer clip. Its taking 3:00 off a 3:30 clip(85%ish less). There is a sift talk post about it somewhere. I think there was some ratio that came out of it. thought it was 3 to 1. Replacing a 3:31 video with a 27 sec partial clip imo is far from enough to be considered the same video. There are plenty of lectures and tons of random vids where long videos have had small segments resifted. Anyway i guess best to let lucky be the decider.

This is a tough one regarding a potential dupe. This was on here before in the form of a longer clip here:

However, that particular longer clip appeared to go dead and was replaced with only the first part of his Conan interview which included a bit about his dog and the Schindler's list bit.
So, technically, if the other post included that bit it would be a dupe. But considering that this is essentially the missing half of that segment it might not be.
Someone help clarify this (at least for my own understanding)!

Yeah, we can argue fair use all day with small or even longer clips from things, but when we have something in its entirety, it's hard to argue it, especially since we have our own self-censoring on that particular issue.

I remember a stream of the entirety of Star Trek TNG was posted a while back, but that's sort of an weird case, since it's a stream.

I also remember lots of ye olde filme that's been posted, but once we go over a certain time and enter the abandonware time, the rules get a little more lax.

there are a few movie lovers here on the sift and those who also share my love of music and the incredibly large amount of wasted brain space i have devoted to trivia and pop culture.
i post mainly to archive and to share with other fellow peeps who may enjoy a gem they may have missed.
i know many sifters have hooked me up to music or movies i may never have seen or heard.

FYI on anyone that may be unhappy with that dupe killing, the solution is to suggest to the original poster of this one to include the slightly longer clip in this post. Otherwise, where does it end? Can I post a slightly longer clip of how Krusty lost the rights to Itchy and Scratchy? I don't think that's what we want.
