The Lion King - Homage or Stealing?
Yup, probably stealing. But hell, Disney has been doing that for ages! You think they came up with the story to Little Mermaid or Aladdin?
But seriously, I'd have to watch Kimba to make a real evaluation. These may be surface similarities with a completely different story.

The Bechdel Test for Women in Movies
>> ^BoneyD:
A lot of chick flicks would fail the Bechdel Test as well, btw...
This video goes towards confirming what I've felt in my gut about films for a few years now. More specifically, the lack of female role models in them. For example, try to think of the last kids film that had a female as the protagonist. The last I can think of is Labyrinth (though I'll concede there's probably also been a few since then).
Take this list of kids films for instance and try to count 'em out:

Alice in wonderland, Princess and the frog, Little Mermaid, Coraline, Hanna Montanna the movie, Bratz the movie, The Golden Compass, Nim's island, Nancy Drew, Mulan, Flicka, The Princess Diaries, then any disney movie princess sequel ect... Just to name a few.

You won't see that in Disney's "The Little Mermaid". Disgusting stars are disgusting, DO NOT HUG!

Just look back at all the controversy that popped up over the years with Disney. The penis building in The Little mermaid, the word SEX in the dust in The Lion King. Aladdin supposedly saying "Take off your clothes" to the tiger in... well...Aladdin.
Notably, Snopes found those urban legends to be false, undetermined, and false respectively.

I don't trust that site, I can PROVE one of his "False" claims is actually true.
This is the scene where the minister becomes "Aroused" as he so puts it.
If he's looking on the new released dvd's, then I doubt he'll be able to find some of the things mentioned, mostly
because it'd be edited out. However, the original VHS' may have a different story.

For the still non-believers, this is the scene in the movie

I think the coy smile on Prince's face says it all. I'm sure cartoonists try to sneak in little jokes like that all the time. Just look back at all the controversy that popped up over the years with Disney. The penis building in The Little mermaid, the word SEX in the dust in The Lion King. Aladdin supposedly saying "Take off your clothes" to the tiger in... well...Aladdin. I don't really think it's too crazy to assume the same sort of thing goes on with all cartoonists. Heck look at the new spider man cartoon. During a fight with Black cat she says "You better not get your goop in my hair." Now sure, that has a totally innocent meaning in the cartoon, but the choice of words makes me think it was designed to get a laugh out of an older crowd. I dunno, maybe we're all just perverts.
