More Bad Lip Reading of The NFL

Seth Green Loves to Decorate with Googly Eyes

VoodooV says...

yeah I didn't care for it either. some of it was funny, but the whole scenario was just way too forced and dumb.

Still, I was reading about it, and it sounds like the main criticism the critics are throwing at it was that it was offensive because it made jokes about asian and jewish stereotypes. Puh-lease! Haven't we already been through this already with Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, and every other fucking successful show that makes fun of common stereotypes. Poking fun at racism...IS NOT RACISM!

I'm torn, I didn't really care for the show, but I feel like I should watch it now just to say fuck you to the critics.

Undercover "Disabled Tour Guides" At Disneyland

truth-is-the-nemesis says...

If the non-disabled can abuse this system, then why not other system advantages such as disabled parking? should these individuals be able to lease out their car-park availability to the non-disabled?. These individuals do not seem (purely by observing them) 'clearly disabled', the man did not reveal his, while the woman said she had a back & knee problems. While it may be clever, it is certainly NOT moral, as money is buying the privileged to become even more set in their ways & reinforcing bad behaviour by treating others as below them & of lesser value. Which is the definition of immoral.

My dilemma? The privacy of my own home is a smoke free property. [Thank the stars for vaporizers!]

Inside...outside though? I'm sure your yard or something could work right?

Nope ... it's a large, busy apartment complex =o(

May I suggest the roof.

You may, but there is no roof access. PLUS the entire property is non smoking [one is relegated to go down by the lake or up by the street ... both city property]. There is a $185.00 fine and the possibility of eviction if caught.

Time to move.

Definitely a serious consideration when my lease is up =oD

If you have a window, stick your head out when you exhale

The down side of this is that the more you do it, the more tolerant you'll become of wind blowing some back in

Subsequently making just moving towards to the window more acceptable, which will inevitably be replaced by blowing in that general direction

The upside is you get to wake up stoned due to all the residue of smoke on your walls, curtains etc.. that may reduce the care factor of breaching the lease. Then just before inspections, air fresheners become your friend

*whispers* but they can still smell it
*whispers softer* But you can blatantly lie. Innocent until proven guilty

Verizon Bills a Guy For Burned Cable Boxes

arekin says...

You know in part, I understand the companies point of view. Markups protect their software from reverse engineering, and also protect them from people who don't return equipment thinking they will just buy the box and not pay the rental on it. Also, you seem to think that the company is out to screw the customer, its not the case at all. I don't have to apologive to see the rational behind these actions, they make perfect sense and keep the resposibility on the customer for leased equipment. Also, as I said before this guy should not be paying anything himself because Geico should be covering this loss. This is another good reason not to forgive this fee, because it should reasonably be covered, thus neither the victim or the media company is bearing the burden.

#1 DVR's are always marked up higher then their raw components. It is the usual tax on having the convenience of the set top box.
#2 DVR with cable decoding hardware like this are generally constructed a bit better then off the shelf hardware thus adding to the cost. Also the cable decoder hardware itself is always expensive. The equipment is built to go through more then one customer in its life span.
#3 the dvr might have offered advanced features like whole house DVR (even in consumer Tivo boxs, this is big money) even if the user didn't pay for them.
The finance department doesn't go out of there way to gouge customers who have to pay for damaged hardware. Instead it is customers finding out that the finance departments are getting ripped off on the hardware they pay for.

Ok I have another question. What kind of fucking asshole defends a giant corporation like Verizon against the common man? In the war against these fucks, you apologists are first to go!

Xbox 360 and PS3 Are Just Very Crap PCs

probie says...

The only benefit I see that consoles have over PCs is that all the hardware is the same, so games and drivers can be optimized for that particular appliance.

What is more sinister to me is the idea behind consoles. Ween the masses off building their own PCs and have them become dependent on the console manufacturer to provide the hardware. After that, it's only one jump to the subscription model for hardware (which they've already got the software end of it locked up, ie. XBox Live, PSN, etc.). Don't buy an XBox720....just rent/lease one for the affordable cost of $30/mo. Then $40, then $50, then...

Self-Freezing Coke

kceaton1 says...

>> ^spoco2:

Cool. I was initially concerned that it'd have to have something nasty in it to do this, but what it seems is actually happening is that because the coke is stored under pressure, it can be kept below its normal freezing temperature without it actually freezing. Then when you open it and mix it around, you've released the pressure and it can now freeze.
The taking a swig is presumably just to make room for the expansion on freezing.

At lease this seems to be the explanation.

Along with this it may be a form of supercooling and when the bottle is open, nucleation (the bubbles formed by the CO2, for everyone that doesn't know what I'm saying) begins to allow ice crystals to form in the water that is already below freezing in the storage machine.

Man Learns If He Still Has Cancer

Bruti79 says...

Know that exact feeling. I was declared cancer free on April 17th this year. It is a new lease on life. This is amazing news for the both of them. There can't be a better feeling.

I hope the side effects didn't hit him too hard and I hope they went and had a good long drink of something after that. =)

Man Calls JPMorgan Chase CEO A Crook To His Face

kevingrr says...

@bmacs27

I am all for good lending practices, but what is happening now goes beyond that. I know of several instances of developers having signed leases from investment grade tenants (large pharmaceutical companies , retailers etc.)who have had significant challenges obtaining financing, even with putting up 40% equity.

At the end of the day the fewer 'good' projects that get done means fewer jobs that are created, both on a temporary (construction) and permanent basis.

I am not on the development side so I don't have first hand experience with the above.

I don't disagree that speculative real estate developments should have trouble getting financing, but that isn't the only kind of product being effected by the new standards.

My take on Jamie Dimon is he isn't Bill Gates. He is a banker and he wants to make money for his company and his shareholders. So did Steve Jobs. I don't fault him for looking out for his interests and I don't fault those who seek to restrain them reasonably. I don't view him as a hero or a demon. He is just a banker - and he seems to be a very 'good' one.

Just because there are comments posted of people recounting stores of battery failure does not dispute the numbers that I cited. Granted, that's post-warranty, but that also means that the cars are older and are more prone to fail.

Also, some hybrids that are out today give lifetime warranties on their batteries! The Hyundai Sonata hybrid is one.

Ultimately, it's your choice weather to lease or buy, but I'd agree that it's a great choice either way. I made the plunge and purchased a Toyota Prius a few years ago.

My apologies if you felt slighted by the "inherently flawed" comment.
