I feel your pain my friend .. lost mine last Christmas and still think of her every day.
Very sorry for your loss.

If it's any consolation .. I understand. My border collie friend of 15 years died this last Christmas and honestly I'm no where near over it or coping with it yet. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

They're great dogs. Very smart, but not for everyone.
Mine was extremely loving, giving, talkative .. and in every way wonderful.

She was gentle as possible as I watched her nurture kittens, ferocious as she defended me against a german shephard which tried to lunge at me .. and my ever present friend who ate pop corn and watched movies with me. 15 years of kindness ..

She just died this last Christmas Eve.
I miss her.

I remember seeing a lot of sad homeless people around the town near my home, so one day while i was on a break at dinner, i went into an expensive chocolate shop and bought a load of chocolate bars, took them around and gave them out, had a little chat while i was giving them. I had so much fun doing it, i only managed to fit 1 guy in during dinner, carried on afterwards.

Last christmas i saw 1 homeless guy in the entire centre of town so i thought, maybe everyone else has found some shelter from the cold. So i went into a bakery and bought 3 or 4 pies, a few donuts and a coffee, and took it to him, offered it him, and he actually spat at me and told me to give him the money or fuck off.

Moral of the story - dunno, some people are asshats?

indeed, last christmas after i "came out" as an atheist my brother told me after the celebration that everyone had a little "meeting" to discuss how to best approach asking me to leave if i started to argue against the existance of god or something (obviously i wasnt there)

some family eh? and more importantly, if you ask me, some religion eh? these people were prepared to kick me out of the house because of their religious beliefs.

now, while i do have strong beliefs i think i am a very respectable person and am not out to interrupt people in celebration like that but still...makes me want to do it this year just fer the hell of it

And I'm by no means a xenophobe. I just don't like it when my money pays someone else's benefits or salary -welfare for able bodied people and such. I realize that some people honestly can't make ends meet, hence subsidized housing and such, but anyone has to admit there are people that leech off the system.
Shit, just last Christmas Eve I saw a man buy a fucking shrimp platter with food stamps. Last time I checked, shrimp was a luxury food. One that even I can't afford willy-nilly. And I work damn hard for my food money. There's no fucking reason that someone that has government-provided money for food should be able to use it to buy luxury items that others that don't get free money can't afford.
