Ex-Cop At Large Amidst Vengeful Killing Spree

nock says...

This is personal for the police. The LAPD actually shot up 2 different vehicles yesterday because they looked like the Dorner's. The LAPD Chief said, "This is a case of mistaken identity." He's either retarded or has a sense of humor because they shot 2 Hispanic women, one of which is 71 years old - they clearly do not look like a 300 lb black man. In my opinion, Dorner will be killed even if he surrenders and it will be covered up. Street "justice".

I have zero sympathy for the cops involved. They engage in police brutality often enough to be described as "daily", I have friends in the LAPD, and lived there long enough as a white american male to know that everyone there, if not guilty of abuse themselves, is guilty of turning a blind eye to it on that same daily-basis.
I feel horribly for the people who had nothing to do with it, but when you establish and support a morally-corrupted organization for so long, no one should be surprised or offended when someone finally breaks and flips the fuck out.

You are an idiot if you think getting out of your car is a bad idea. People shouldn't have anything to fear from a police officer. They are supposed to be helpful in any situation. Statements like that of schlub push things in the wrong direction.

To my @swedishfriend,

In the US, for many years, people have been told to not get out of their cars when stopped by the police. I agree that the police shouldn't be trained to perceive that small thing as a threat--but they have been. I don't believe that @schlub meant that anyone, ever, getting out of their cars is necessarily stupid. I think (hope) he meant that because of this training--and the widespread knowledge of this training--that jumping out of the car wasn't the smartest thing to do.
(of course, I could be wrong--and I fully expect to be jumped from all sides now)

TYT: Criminals Run the NYC Police Department

messenger says...

That's one of the smartest things I've heard said recently about Occupy. It wouldn't take much to get the people against the police, and it wouldn't just be a major coup -- it would be the battle that wins the war.>> ^Yogi:

Yeah...and the LAPD is also run by criminals. I think the Occupy movement should work on the local level with their own police departments first. Just thinking out loud but if they can get people on board by using the threat of their own local PD corruption which is already a huge concern they will have won.

You don't have the right to defend yourself from a police officer enacting the law in a lawful manner, which they were doing. Legal positivism is a bitch. We derive our laws from a greater moral concern, apparently, but then the law trumps all other moral concern until a precedent is set in court or governments change it. In this case the government has non incentive to change it and judges cant rule retroactively so any changes, however unlikely, are only forward looking. If you fought back here you get in big shit and Victorian cops are like the LAPD of Australia.

I have friends who were both in this crowd at protesters and a friend in the Vic cops. Being in the police force gives you such an adversarial attitude towards those who stand against you. As such these cops have reduced capacity to differentiate between villains and champions. Funnily enough, the police had a minor strike (a form of protest) just 2 weeks ago. Oh the irony.

Father Takes Down LAPD Officer For Pedophilia

Uh, I hate to break up the pedo-bashing, but as far as they know the guy was just taking photos of kids. Creepy? Maybe. Pedo? Not necessarily. By all means he should be reported, and have his computers and home checked, but 'innocent until proven guilty' should still abide. People have had their lives completely and utterly ruined for being falsely accused of pedophilia.
/devil's advocate

I was thinking something similar, but what took it over the edge was the description of the pictures not being just a random collection, but pictures of the same kids taken over hours, as if he was stalking them. I think a lot also depends on what the composition was. He seemed pretty damned keen to delete the pictures when confronted, so I suspect that there were probably some up-skirt shots, or at least attempts at such from the way the father was describing the whole trying to get pic of her as she got off the wagon "with legs akimbo."

Definitely need more info to make a full judgement but it really stinks and the way the guy reacted kind of implies he knew he was up to no good... even if he didn't technically do anything illegal.

The LAPD might just be the worst police department in north america. Some of the people that work for them are just criminals, others are really screwing the system that gives them WAY too much money and power.
