Awesome Left 4 Dead 2 trailer

Roachmojo says...

A cash-in to milk the 360 crowd, and it looks lame as hell.

Go look for some gameplay footage and see what I mean. C'mon...a friggin frying pan? Too much like "Dead Rising", IMHO. L4D is the zombie apocolypse, a seriously creepy and depressing game, but this looks ridiculous.

I feel so cheated by the fact that this game is coming out in November. I bought L4D when it first came out and enjoyed the hell out of it. That was...until I realized that there were really only 4 levels (ok 16 technically but only 4 different campaigns). I feel severely cheated here, they don't open things up so people can make their own levels and the supposed level pack ended up being just a survivor mode which was made of...GHASP..the same levels!
Compared with all the downloaded content that came over time with TF2 we got zip and i feel like im really left out in the cold now that L4D 2 is coming out.
Am i alone here?

very true. althought this game will be sweet, it is a cash in. no way should it be coming out this soon...and half the features should have been in the first one.

Just give it time.

Releasing mod tools doesn't change the fact that Valve promised to release new weapons, characters, movies (campaigns) as updates for L4D. And now we find out we're going to have to buy all this in the form of a new sequel.

The original has been out for a bit more than 6 months and Valve is already coming out with a sequel. EA doesn't even move this fast with their sport franchises!

Whats the best console? (User Poll by Throbbin)

xxovercastxx says...

For all the buzz, this generation may be the most lackluster collection I've ever seen.

The 360 is just evolutionary. It's the best system only because Sony and Nintendo did so much less. All the hardware issues put a big dent in its image. It's got the strongest library but a lot of the big games on 360 are meant to be played on a PC, so you're just getting a half-assed version of the game. Halo, L4D, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Dead Space, etc.

The PS3 was a departure for Sony. For the prior 2 generations they dominated the market with shoddy, obsolete hardware and slick marketing and they should have stuck with that. Instead they built an overpriced cash leech with lots of fancy new technologies that don't work well together and told their customer base to get a second job or take out a mortgage to buy one. Like the PS1 and PS2, the PS3 is impossible to program for and since it's got mediocre market share, developers can afford to skimp on it. PSN doesn't compare with Live, even when free... serious connection and throughput issues combine with hosts that kick you from the game if you're better than them to create a totally frustrating online experience. Oh yeah, and I hate Sony's little kiddie controller. It makes my hands cramp. If you're really into watching cutscenes (MGS, Final Fantasy), this is the console for you.

The Wii... obviously the most successful of the group by a longshot. When it comes to just doing business, Nintendo has been cleaning up for a while now. The Xbox and Xbox360 have yet to turn a profit and the Playstation brand has been never been profitable either. Nintendo, meanwhile, made a nice profit on the Gamecube by selling it above cost and has completely cleaned up shop with the Wii. Another thing I can appreciate is the honesty of Nintendo's product. They're not using it to manipulate people into repurchasing all of their movies or buying a Windows Media Center PC; they're just selling a gaming console. The unfortunate part of the Wii is that they never really pushed the envelope. They somehow took their "revolution" and reduced it to a cheap gimmick before the first shot was fired. If you've played WiiSports, then you've experienced 90% of what Wii has to offer.

I also stream my downloaded videos from my desktop through my wireless network and watch them in the living room.

Welcome to the future. I've been doing that for 7 years now with my original Xbox. XBMC still does a better job of it than PS3 or 360.

TF2 Sandvich Fakeout

I hardly ever see servers using alltalk anymore. When it first came out I think alltalk defaulted to on, and most server admins didn't change it. Then it was patch to default to off. This particular server, as I sad in my post above is called nom-nom-nom. I've actually played there a few times, and they didn't have alltalk enabled when I played except one time. An admin enabled it because it was mostly regular players and they turned it on so they could talk with one another and have a good time. I see nothing wrong with that.

I find voice comms important, especially in TF2, when playing serious. If you're on a team that has good communications you're more likely to have coordinated attacks and defenses rather than everyone running around doing their own thing.

I can see how you get by without using voice in L4D, I've played a lot of games where I'm the only ones using it, but when I get in a game where all 4 are using it, we do much better than when I play with people who don't.

Fucking all-talk servers!

Exactly what I thought too. Alltalk is the worst feature EVER. Why listen to a bunch of geeks shouting when you can listen to even more distraction coming from the enemy team also??

I actually don't use voice anymore, I can't mute the entire enemy team in alltalk servers, I can't keep the enemy team from hearing me, etc., voice is just poorly implemented in these games.

Besides, I've come to realize that voice is unnecessary about 60-80% of the time.

For many months I've been playing L4D and TF2 with voice disabled, a lot less aggravation that way and I can always type in or use binds for anything important I need to communicate.

Unfortunately I bought Orange Box for Xbox360 before I got a new computer that could handle TF2. Xbox360 TF2 has none of the cool new weapons/items that the computer version sports. I am jealous.

They had a nice update for Left 4 Dead recently, I'm not sure why valve isn't sharing the love with TF2.

Lol thats funny, as every L4D player has been bitching that TF2 gets all the love with content updates all the time with L4D having to wait months for it's one update.

Now it has got it and we have TF2 players whining because L4D got all the love. HAHAHA

I play both, love both. That fake out in the vid is pulled off perfectly.

Finally upgraded (Videogames Talk Post)

^Oh, of course. I've got a back catalog of games that I haven't even played or been able to see in their full glory: Bioshock, COD4 (never played it), UT3 (never played it), L4D (only seen on low settings, no shadows). Just been too busy with school.

And of course school work, surfing, Videosift , etc. I'm actually excited to see what Blu-ray will look like as I have a 47" 1080P TV but have only been using an upconverting DVD player. So it'll be the first time for that too.

But does anyone recommend a good "burning in" software? Is BurnInTest any good?
