Eric Winston Tears into Fans Who Cheered Quarterbacks Injury

Trail Runner Meets Grizzly

I trust the guy with the eye that was stoned. It was probably knocked out by a smart bear. In order to trick a smart bear, he learned that you must juggle apples and not bananas. The eye was for the banana tomfoolery.

F1 Belgium Grand Prix: First Crash on Corner

Romain Grosjean has been given a one race suspension for causing the first-lap collision at the Belgian Grand Prix, and also imposed a €50,000 fine.

I personally don't get what a penalty like that is supposed to accomplish, you mean next time when he's wheel to wheel with someone he should just yield the position without trying?
I mean, he fucked up, but this kind of crap happens all the time further back in the line, and people don't get suspended from the next race for it. I guess the standard now is if you knock out a star like Alonso or Hamilton you face a much stiffer penalty than if you knock out Timo Glock or Heikki Kovalienen.
I guess it's a much bigger safety risk if you endanger the FIA's bottom line than it is if you endanger someone's life by being stupid...

Agreed.. unless you have a rich father to payoff official for penalties like Pastor Maldanado. He failed to slow down at the scene of an accident at Monaco in GP2, despite the presence of warning flags, and struck and seriously injured a marshal. He was banned from the sport, until his father stepped in and payed large sums of money.
He continues to be a reckless drive (not aggressive, reckless) and will injure someone in F1, with the likes of his multiple incidents he's had this season. Give someone like him fines means nothing.

He should not have a super licence.

Take a picture of a screen of a Asus laptop/notebook and ...

This is interesting. If it's a fake, they're not using the mouse. You can see the mouse in the reflection of the screen... the silver stripe can be seen... it's near the corner of the keyboard, and it winds up behind the "R" in the word "Wallpaper" on the screen when the flash is popped. There is no hand on the mouse. Also the message that pops up in the lower right makes it seem like the background is real and not just a couple JPGs being switched between.

On another board someone theorized that maybe the flash wreaked havoc with the LCD crystals themselves. Nope, it wouldn't knock out just the right half of the screen with a straight line down the middle.

Better theories:
Could a small EMP from the flash damage a chip behind the screen if it were right near the flash? Notice how close they put it to the screen. Maybe there is a separate driver of some sort for the right and left halves of the display. Maybe the light sensor that keeps the brightness comfortable in different lighting conditions produced a spike Asus never saw before in testing, and knocked out a chip. Possibly only temporarily.

It'd be interesting to know if anyone else has tried this, or if Asus has responded to it.

What do you do for work ? (Talks Talk Post)

Unsung_Hero says...

While working a part-time job at a civil engineering firm, I got my undergraduate degree in General Business.

Looked for a job/career for 6 months, nothing.

Went back to school to get an MBA. A year later I was back searching for a job now with a Masters degree... nothing.

Finally, a year later I got a position within Disney doing finance for 2 hotels. Didn't like the job on many levels including the hour and a half commute each way with tolls which knocked out 1.75 days of salary a week (I didn't get paid very much ) I quit and work part time with the Engineering company again (welcomed me back with open arms) and now I am currently looking for a full-time career.

A van crashes into a row of stopped vehicles on the road

Porksandwich says...

His brake lights never came on, so he was knocked out on the hit or he was out/disabled before the hit took place.

Even after he had come to a stop, the lights on the back never came on that I could tell.

Even someone panicking behind the wheel, you'd think the turn signals, brake lights or something would come on even temporarily in reaction to the hit.

Monkey!

Just open the register and put your hands up. The money's insured, and doesn't belong to you anyway - it's your employer's and so isn't worth dying for. The line between "brave" and "stupid" is very blurry, and the line between "coward/living" and "brave/stupid/dead" is very easily crossed.

This guy did it for himself. He's fucking awesome and this will get him laid for years to come. I quote: "He made him clean up his own blood while he was waiting for police and paramedics."

If that was why he did it, then that's a pretty selfish reason to risk your life. Think of your friends and family - why would you put them through all the grief and stress of having to deal with that, just for the sake of your employer's money, which is insured anyway?
Of course, I don't think that's why he did it, anyway. People don't think like that in a crisis - but discretion is the better part of valour. I'd rather be a living chicken than a dead duck, so I'd let the guy take the money.

I didn't say it was justified. Just that regardless of his indiscretion he came out better for it and will likely benefit over the long term. Unless hubris strikes and he dies doing something even dumber. Seriously. Become a soldier, get a medal, bang chicks. Or become a solider, die, your family gets a medal to remember your heroic efforts. Idealism versus the true nature of reality. Stop complaining. You're right, but it doesn't matter and people will behave however the fuck they want to.
