Christian Bakery Denies Service to Gay Couple

shinyblurry says...

Don't try that shit, it's discrimination, you know exactly why he was refusing to make a gay wedding cake that type of lying isn't going to help your argument. 2nd it's not a double-standard to hand someone their ass when they say something stupid. You do something counter to the way a society has been going you get shouted down in the public square. We're moving towards legalizing gay marriage and giving equal rights to all americans, you go counter to that you're gonna get yelled at.

Sorry but you're wrong, it isn't discrimination. They were still able to do business there if they wanted another kind of cake, and I'm sure they're still welcome to do so. The man doesn't want to make a gay wedding cake because he believes marriage is between a man and a woman, and that gay marriage is immoral.

Also filth posted on message boards? Is this your first day on the internet? I'm pretty sure Justin Beiber hasn't done anything to anyone on the internet and still he's talked about worse than Hitler. You're in hyperbole country mother fucker, deal with it.

Now you want to continue discriminating against people and not doing your job to make cakes or hand out birth control pills than yeah your life is gonna be made harder. Too bad because you're lives are already way too easy as it is. Complaining about christian discrimination, bitch there's children dying in Africa, shut the fuck up.

So discrimination against Christians is okay, because people talk trash all the time and children are dying in Africa? In other words, you just wave your hand and make excuses..proving that you don't really think discrimination is wrong, so long as its against people you disagree with. It's clear you want equal rights for everyone except Christians.

First of all, it wasn't discrimination. He didn't refuse to serve them because they are gay. He refused to make them a gay wedding cake. Little bit of a difference there. The nastiness that comes out of people when they think they have an excuse to attack Christians is the real story. Immediately after the chick-fil-a controversy you had so much vile filth posted in comments and message boards, even celebrity tweets, viciously maligning Christians. That's just fine with people, but it's not okay that a man will only bake heterosexual wedding cakes. It's a hypocritical double-standard.

Bill Maher supports SOPA, gets owned by guests

heropsycho says...

So media today isn't as high quality as it once was? Look, people still go to the movies, so it's no surprise that there are still high quality movies being made. But music? Recorded music simply isn't profitable. The only way some professional musicians make any money at all is off live performances *somtimes*, or focusing on things that aren't directly writing music, such as self-publishing/producing, etc. Less time is spent on actually writing music as a consequence.

Despite all the technology we have to help find and distribute music, it is harder today to find what I consider quality music compared to 20 years ago. I don't think it's because I'm an old foggy who romanticizes what music was when I was a teenager. But it's hard to argue that the Justin Beibers of the world are the only ones making money these days for the most part, and bands the bands that are truly innovating nobody's heard of.

It's a real problem.

Why aren't people buying what's for sale? It's pretty unrealistic to believe a major culprit is not the notion of why buy what you can get for free. Console video game sales are still doing very well, and the only reason that makes any sense is it's a hell of a lot harder to pirate video games than music for numerous reasons, such as the sheer amount of data that comprises a video game vs music, etc.

I know that piracy isn't the only reason the music or entertainment industries have struggled in the last decade. The music industry has made more than their fair share of blunders. But piracy is a significant problem, Maher is absolutely right about that. But again, SOPA is not the answer, and I don't pretend I'm smart enough to know what is a solution.

>> ^Psychologic:

>> The problem isn't that people are downloading stuff, it's that they aren't buying what is for sale. Those are two separate issues.
If a magic wand could be waved to to stop "illegal" downloading, I can still get so much legal content via Hulu, Comedy Central, or wherever that there is no reason to spend extra money on entertainment.
The old days where kids bought CDs because it was the only option are gone and aren't coming back. The people stuck in that old mindset are still trying to punish people into spending money when their content is barely worth the time invested in finding it for free.
Yes, reforms are needed, but the first thing we need to do it have people working on that actually understand the issue to begin with.

Robot Chicken and Justin Bieber - Edgiest Thing Ever

I seriously thought that Justin Beiber was a lesbian girl when I first saw him. (This part is true)

When I worked out it was a dude it didn't stop me from fappin'. (This part is not)

Japan You So Crazy!

jmd says...

First, its a kids/girls (shoujo) song. At first I thought it was a solo release from one of the MMs mini moni group but alas, unrelated.

Second, it is no more or less bizarre as adults watching most kids shows these days, it just so happens japan's kids have a bit better imagination thanks to not having nearly the oppressive censoring on TV as us whities do.

Frankly considering the only popular music we have to offer our kids is the likes of gangsta rap and justin beiber (They wont find any classics on todays modern stations), the up beat (and maybe too happy) young listeners jpop market looks to produce better material compared to the crap we offer over here.

Satanic symbology in Music

acidSpine says...

If you want to convince people the music industry is run by satan you should have just sifted a Justin Beiber film clip not this long overly dramatic montage of every single cd cover with a face on it ever.

Snuff versus non-snuff (Philosophy Talk Post)

Lawdeedaw says...

As far as the press releases and lack thereof--how often do you hear about illegal chemicals being used against Palestine protesters? Or how about the wikileaks child-selling contracts? Oh, you hear the mundane garbage they want to feed America, because they are corporations selling a product. However, we should distinguish between what is "in the news" (i.e., articles Justin Beiber's haircut, Sara Palin's stupid emails) and what is actually "newsworthy."

The next point, one that makes me infinitely sad, is that AMERICA IS CORRUPTION. *Sorry, for some reason I cannot bold shit, so I made it caps...

Just take a sampling of the corruption. Parents, Teachers (Hi, I just had sex with your kid and won't do any jail time because I am a woman,) Judges, Politicians, Medical Professionals, Oil Exs, (A joke, we expect that,) Priests, Cops, and pretty much everyone else. Are these abuses of power that are unexpected? Yes. I cannot fathom, least expect, a father throwing his child from a moving car because the kid wet his bed--but it happens. We should expect it by now.

In light of that, excluding cops, for the reasons that it is not right, unexpected, different, and abuse of power, etc., seems preposterous to me.

Thanks Ry and Hp and Gun and MrFrisk, and even though I am tired from a lot of work and playing with my children, I figure I will respond half asleep because those were well put.

Another big note; I am afraid of the cultural war issue more than everything. Hp, you said what I fear the most--in essence at least. That the Law is afraid of suits and using defense that anyone would be entitled to. That when the law does use force, it will be condemned. That when a officer dies, certain parts of a town rejoice.

A boy was shot a while back and a city next to mine got in an uproar (But the officer used sound judgement, yet that matters not. Just white on black, cop on kid/with gun...) That is how fanaticism starts. It is rarely a huge leap (Like Sept 11th) that starts a cultural shift to hatred. The Muslim nations that are extremely oppressive cultivate the hatred with fear and more hatred.

(And that also goes for people hating homosexuals, race, etc. I fear for that just the same. Now it's bedtime before I start making sense.)

Rebecca Black: Friday (Kill Me Now)

Nebosuke says...

After listening to this song and thinking about it overnight, I'm pretty sure it bears more than a passing resemblance to Justin Beiber.

Without doing too much analysis, it is in the same key and has nearly the same note structure in the refrain as Beiber's "Baby". In addition, the key is the same as Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" and the refrain is very similar.

I actually thought he was substantially older than this video shows too. I've never actually seen him before.. I feel dirty for upvoting a video where a child gets hit in the face by a bottle most likely thrown by an adult

I didn't realise when i read about the hatred for justin beiber that he was as young as this. Are people mentally handicapped or something? As though this CHILD has planned his evil ascent to corporate robot tool?
You're blaming the wrong people. I bet when he's 25 he's got long hair, looks a bit like the guy who plays ron weasly, he likes black sabbath and led zeppelin, probably even sophisticated enough to like a bit of pink floyd, and he jokes about how people misled him into becoming something even he hates.
I know it's cool on the internet right now to hate justin beiber, but it was probably made cool by 16 year olds, and they're fully entitled to hate him. Anyone above the age of 18 should know a little better.
Edit:
I know i sound a little UMAD, but i did just watch what came across to me as a kid doing a school play and getting humiliated in front of everyone. I've never liked stuff like that, i don't see what joy there is in it for anyone. Can you honestly say that this child deserves so much hatred for what his managers/agent has done that we can enjoy him getting humiliated?
