Huckabee is Not a Homophobe, but...

VoodooV says...

What makes being an "artist" so fucking special? Gee, I should be able to do whatever I want too without feeling inconvenienced and pressured in any way imaginable Let me guess, you're not a janitor, you're a sanitation engineer right?

I think Jon Stewart said it best: You're confusing religious oppression with not always getting what you want.

If Walmart Paid Its Employees a Living Wage

Mashiki says...

Crap video full of crap. And I've worked in the US myself, and lived most of my life in Canada(being Canadian).

Even up here in Canada, Walmart pays more than the min. wage. Hell it pays more than the average local store, or even larger stores, chain stores, or other bigbox retail stores for PT/FT in terms of wages.

Example in Ontario: Walmart starting wage: 13.25/hr(current min wage 10.25/hr), FT/PT, not counting benefits.
Gas station attendant: 10.55-12.08/hr
Large bigbox store sale clerk: 10.85/hr
L-BB Manager: 13.85-15.80/hr
Mom&pop specialized clerk: 10.85-12.10/hr
Fast food: 10.25-12.10/hr
Non-unionized janitors: 10.25-13/hr
Managers fast food: 13-15/hr
Regional Managers Fast food: 14.25-25.30/hr
Managers Walmart: 16.25-25/hr
Regional managers Walmart 18.80-27.80/hr

And...on top if that here, if you need a hand go to the damned food bank. And stop blowing your money on the latest gadets.

TDS: Minimum wage hike and the Pope denouncing Trickle Down

VoodooV says...

think of it this way. we raise the minimum wage, now that the lower and middle classes have more purchasing power, there will be more demand and businesses will be able to use that demand as an excuse to raise prices more, offsetting by far any extra money they have to pay employees.

I'm fed up with this cycle we have. some douchebag raises prices because they feel entitled to more profit. because of the raised prices workers cannot afford what they could in the past and demand higher wages, eventually, with much contempt and whining, wages do eventually increase, which leads to that same douchebag feeling entitled to more profit and lather rinse repeat.

I want a stable system that doesn't go through this cycle of raising costs. It's the dog chasing it's tail.

Like I said earlier, no one likes demanding raises from their employer, so lets create a system that isn't based on greed, but instead on promoting a healthy and productive lifestyle so people don't have to ask for raises.

I want to live in a world where necessities are cheap and plentiful. you want to price gouge me on the price of an ipad to the point where I can't afford it? that's a luxury item so I don't give a shit.

I want to live in a world where it doesn't matter if I'm a ceo or a janitor, having a decent apt or home, healthcare and healthy food isn't an issue. The rest is extra. We would all be more productive if we didn't have to worry about the basics of a healthy life.

Woman thinks all postal workers are after her

Hive13 says...

I have watched several videos from her (now dead) Youtube channel and she is completely delusional. Paranoid schizophrenic for sure.

She thinks the janitors at her apartment are stalking her, all mailmen are stalking her, the cars in the parking lot across from her apartment are ganging up on her, bingo night is a trap for young kids to be molested and the construction crews outside her new psychiatric facility were sent to block her access.

She records all license plate numbers she sees and swears that she sees them multiple times. She verbally attacks people for coughing at her and for calling her crazy.

I am truly scared for her and she has the potential to do some very bad things if provoked. It turns out her user account has been terminated.

Wealth Inequality in America

VoodooV says...

Even if you honestly do believe a CEO deserves 380x the pay of the average worker, they're certainly not working 380x harder. it would be physically impossible.

The reality is that the CEOs do less, yet they earn more. They were typically either born into their wealth or they lucked into it or they simply know other wealthy people.

Social mobility in the US, (in other words, the notion that if you "work hard" that you'll succeed and climb the ladder") is abysmal. I forget the number but we're ranked pretty low amongst other civilized/industrialized nations.

You can't blame this on Obama, you can't blame this on Bush, It's bigger than government. we allow the 1 percenters to have an unfair amount of influence over our gov't so as @Trancecoach mentioned, the game is rigged against you.

In all reality though. Income inequality would not be so much of a problem if everyone's necessities were met. All things being equal, I could give a shit that the 1 percent had so much wealth, but the problem is for most people, the instant you have a major illness, you're instantly bankrupt.

I've got no problem with capitalism when it comes to things that are not necessities to living a healthy life. Want the latest Apple trinket? sorry, you need to work harder and get a better job for that. But I shouldn't have to become a CEO just so that I don't have to worry if I or my loved ones has an accident and is hospitalized. It shouldn't matter if I'm an engineer or a janitor when it comes to healthcare. In case you've forgotten, we're supposedly all equal and deserving of the same life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The Rumble 2012 - Jon Stewart vs. Bill O'Reilly

bareboards2 says...

Raising the age is fine if it is means tested.

Poorer people don't live as long. Poorer people tend to work at jobs that are much harder on their bodies. Adding years to when they are eligible to collect social security isn't right.

Can you imagine being a janitor at age 68? Dang.

Also --

Maybe I don't understand, but Jon said -- let's means test social security. Bill-o said no, then proceeded to say means testing for the rich. Am I missing something?

I also agree that capitalism is the problem with our discourse. It's not just the selling of hate, it is also the selling of fear and sex and cute kitten videos. When a news room has to make a profit, they are offering stories that pander to the lowest common denominator. Reagan's Iran contra mess, while well covered, was nothing compared to the coverage of Clinton and the stained dress and the cigar. Because sex sells.

>> ^dystopianfuturetoday:

I actually agreed with BillO on a few issues. I think raising the social security age and cutting rich people off from social security benefits is a reasonable idea. I also agree that people are being hired to spread hate... mainly by the FOX news network. He also admits Iraq was a bad idea/disaster.
Bill doesn't seem that extreme when compared to the Glenn Becks and Alex Jones of the world.

What if money was no object?

robbersdog49 says...

>> ^NaMeCaF:

All well and good in theory, but reality is most people will have to put up with doing a job they dont necessarily love in order to live. Otherwise we'd have no janitors, or garbage men, etc.
Not everyone can do their "dream" job but they still have to pay the mortgage, support the family and pay those internet, phone, water, gas, electricity, etc bills.

Very true, but it doesn't mean that no-one can do their dream job. When I hear things like this I think what it's really saying is don't be like everyone else, leave that to them. Yes, most people won't be able to, but it's up to you to try to be not like most people. I wish I was better at it. I'm part way there with a job I fundamentally like. I could earn more doing other things but I've tried to draw my own line in the sand (I'm not quite doing my dream job, my line is certainly a compromise - I still need the money). I think I'm in a lucky position to be able to though (but I think this is true of anyone in the first world).

I think a lot of people would be a lot happier if they sacrificed a bit of money in trade for more happiness at work.

Hot Girls on an Escalator Picking Up Chocolate

Stalker.

>> ^clairehaynes:

No, you're absolutely right! I heart chocolate 4eva! I heart short skirts and having some random ginger cunt come to my rescue when I get all my clothes torn off at the top of an escalator upon which I picked up a piece of random dirty candy (it happens so bollocking often - what a super yawn you guys!) It's not like in any way that I would think to myself "Oh hai, well, there's some gross floor-chocolate, so I'll leave that shit where it is for the janitor to clean up. But wait, there's a super stalkery young man coming at me at a rate of knots, maybe he'll know what to do, because my brain is so fucking occupied by menstrual periods, ripping the hair out of my arse, and kegel exercises that I cant think straight, Daddy!" Fuck your patriarchal bullshit, I hope you all go back in time and choke on your mothers' amniotic fluid. kisses!
Post Script: I know more vag-worthy men that would laugh this shit into oblivion than you've eaten dick, and that's a considerable amount
