Why do we even have a down vote? (Sift Talk Post)

Has over 500 up votes and 14 down votes. Seems more like 14 people who just didn't like the video as opposed to any "quality control". This btw would be one of the shiet videos MarineGunrock wants to keep off the site.

No it wouldn't. But I'm glad you know me that well. I never said the SOLE purpose for the downvotes was to keep shit off the site. When I downvote something in the queue, it is, but it also means I simply really do not like the video. When I downvote something that's been published, I am merely expressing my distaste for it.

As for the ukulele video, well, I just don't think it deserves so many votes. I think everyone here would agree with that.

Well, this kind of thing is subjective, but we are kind of a Web democracy here - and the people have definitely spoken. Keep in mind, VideoSift has been around for barely 2 months. I would be very surprised, if this video was still number one in another 3 months (yikes, scary to think that this comment will be very quotable in 3 months).

I guarantee though, that whatever video replaces it - some people (possibly me) will believe it to be unworthy of the spot.

On this performance, I have watched it so many times that I'm sort of numb to its effect -but- the first time I watched it, a shiver went down my spine. Sometimes art can transcend a mere performance and personally connect to the people experiencing it.

Having said all that - I also think there is a bit of intertia about being on the all-time top page 1. I think there are some videos on page 2 and 3 that are worthy to overcome some of the vids on the top page. So go vote for them!

Drama King

Ladies and Gentlemen, we've just seen the video. What we've seen speaks for itself. The videosift website has apparently been taken over - "conquered" if you will - by a master race of overacting praerie dogs. It's difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will consume the amazing ukulele play or merely own the home made light saber duel. One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the praerie dogs will soon be top five. And I for one welcome our new rodent overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a yet-to-receive-a-star videosift personality I could be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground video queue.

HAIL PRAIRIE DOG!
