60 Minutes Accepts Trump Team's Challenge
I'll just leave this light reading here....
Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza emerged in Mexico in March 2009 and by June 10 had rapidly spread to 74 countries (1,2). Nonpharmaceutical interventions for pandemic influenza at the community level were recommended by the World Health Organization before and during the pandemic (3,4). One such nonpharmaceutical intervention was quarantine of contacts of persons with confirmed cases. A key question in closed settings (e.g., military barracks) was how to prevent a secondary outbreak of influenza among those quarantined.
The first identified case of pandemic (H1N1) 2009 in mainland People’s Republic of China was imported from the United States and reported on May 11, 2009 (5). On May 29, the Chinese Ministry of Health required that each confirmed case-patient and each contact be isolated and quarantined in 1 separate room to contain transmission of the virus

There weren't shutdowns because H1N1 wasn't spread before symptoms show, wasn't as easily spread, and wasn't 1/10 as deadly. By denying travel to and quarantining the visibly sick, it was relatively easy to stop the spread. There were many travel restrictions including travel bans, but they were mostly voluntarily. There was screening of passengers and sick ones were denied travel. Also, thanks to preparations, a vaccine only took months to create.
Yes, we got lucky, but we certainly didn't JUST get lucky, we took action AND got lucky.
So H1N1 could have "been the big one" yet there were no shutdowns or travel restrictions. They just got lucky that time. Supply stockpiles can only do so much, which is admittedly more than Trump did.
Maybe we can learn lessons from China. They managed to avoid large outbreaks in Beijing and Shanghai, seems like the virus went directly from Wuhan to the rest of the world.

Dr Drew's Horrific Coronavirus Advice Compilation
And in all seriousness: because if you aren't old yourself, you know people who are---your parents, your grandparents---or have friends and family who are in the risk groups---diabetic, asthma, smokers, cancer survivors or in treatment---or are just robust young people with immune systems that over-react and then trigger Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and death...
So I don't know you--but wash your hands, wear a mask outside, and isolate.
Whatever you have believed at one point or the other.
Trump was right from the beginning, Assembling a team , stopping china flights and starting preparations for this. The media countered with racist against China, Fool this is just another flu type event.
Now its 24hrs a day panic panic fear mongering from media and Trump should have prepared.
China lied and knew person to person spread back in mid December. The WHO carried the lies of China.
Finally a Doctor on the News Talking Fucking Sense
If everyone somehow isolates and we get down to only only 10 new cases a day, and we let everyone out, that only resets the clock to February with the addition of a million or so people already infected and immune. Everything goes back to shit in another couple months. People's behavior changing will help slow the spread, but will not prevent it. There's plenty you can do outside the home a safe distance from other people with minimal risk, certainly less than just going to shop for food. It's ridiculous they are shutting down beaches where it's simple to walk 20' away from anybody else. To limit crowds just close down parking spaces.
Antibody tests should allow recovered people back into regular life, but the only way we get a lot of recovered people is to have a lot of sick people first. Keep the elderly and high risk people confined, and let everyone else out with reasonable precautions(no gatherings over 20, etc). The only other alternative is a 6-12 month lockdown and 100% testing, which is simply never going to happen. You would still have to lock down the borders until the rest of the world has it under control too.
Because some states aren't quarantining and interstate travel isn't restricted, you need to stay home 3 weeks AFTER the entire country finally quarantines, otherwise it's all for nothing and the outbreak will restart with a vengeance and that 100000-250000 dead will become 6000000+-.

Well, in 2019 they would have without hesitation. Now in this age of isolation you might have to sit on the front porch and they could drop it out the mail slot. Maybe

Fun Fact - While true for most of them, this was actually filmed on Kangaroo Island, a 1700 sq. mi. island off the coast of South Australia, where they are all disease free due to isolation.
It's actually caused some problems in treating the burned ones as if they're removed from the island, they can't be taken back afterwards.
But yes I wouldn't be trying to pick up the one living in my street
All that gear doesn't protect her a bit from the real danger Drop Bears present....Chlamydia. In some areas, 100% of wild koalas have it, and they can transmit it to humans.
Just try telling your wife she has the clap because you pet a koala, not because you pet the babysitter.
Billionaires Freak Out About Warren and Sanders
Not one of them would even notice if you took half their money away and cooked the books so the numbers looked the same.
They can still buy megayachts, private jets, mansions all over the world with 20 billion instead of 40.
In fact, many studies have shown that they would actually be happier if much of their money was taxed away. To most of these people money is an addiction. It's as destructive as most other addictions, driving family and friends away, ruining relationships, and isolating the individual with the addiction. More money will never make them happy for long, it will only make them want even more to get that sweet dopamine hit.
I say if they've got Billionaires this upset they must be doing something right!
To be fair, if someone said they were going to take your money, would you be happy?

I believe your typical American, no matter their political persuasion, cares about his fellow American. I'm sure you agree that trying to paint either side as demons who don't care is nonsense.
People shouldn't care about what type of guns or the number of guns - there seems to be no correlation between gun ownership rates and homicide rates in the USA:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States_by_state#/media/File:Gun_Ownership_Related_to_Gun_Violence_by_State_(United_States).sv
g
(the line of best fit would have a positive slope if there was a correlation)
There is a correlation between weapon type and firearm murder - pistols (of all sorts) account for approximately 89% of all firearm murders (where a firearm type is specified in the police report). Rifles (of all sorts) are about 5%. Shotguns (of all sorts) are about 3%.
https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8.xls
This wiki has better data than you presented - you can isolate gun violence from other violence:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States_by_state
"Odd, you seem to be saying you're afraid of the violent, gun toting democrats who are 99% more ready and better armed for violent political civil war than Republicans....but you also claim Republicans have all the guns and are better shots and ready to go.....which is it?"
The data says that Republican voters (or those that lean that way) have a firearm ownership rate of double that of Democrats.
If the majority of terrorist attacks in the USA are by right wing terrorists as you suggest, then it seems odd you'd say in the same breath that the left are ready for violent political civil war. If they have less arms and less willingness to engage in violence (which I actually believe is a good thing) then they are hardly "99% more ready and better armed".
The military voted Republican at about twice the rate of voting Democrat at the last election. So the left doesn't have that going for them either.
If the left didn't care about people getting shot and killed, why would they care about guns? Duh.
99% of shootings are by illegally obtained guns in democratic cities?!
Site your source.....I know you can't, you flushed already. The actual number is 40-<60% of those convicted of illegal shootings admit they used illegally obtained guns, the number varying by state, higher where laws deny violent convicts the right to own them, lower when they can. As to your ridiculous 99% Democratic city claim, you're just repeating a long ago debunked lie from a failed Republican candidate 5 years ago. Here's some data. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jul/12/deadliest-cities-gun-control-laws-congress-chicago
Note how many Republican led cities are worse than Chicago.
99% are non NRA members? Maybe, but >99.5% of Americans are non NRA members, most NRA members quit the organization decades ago like I did, but are still listed as "members". Since most americans aren't members, actually the NRA gave a pitch to prospective sponsors in which it said that about half of its then-4 million members were the “most active and interested.” (the other 2 million are often dead members, ex members, or those given free but unwanted memberships with a purchase) so there MAY be 2 million, but that's likely still a massive overestimate, meaning using their own numbers, active NRA members are far more likely than the average person to murder with a gun IF your 1% guess is right (and there's absolutely no way to know, those statistics aren't kept).
Yes. Mass terroristic attacks with or without guns get more attention than individual personal attacks. Odd, you think that's proper if it's not a right wing terroristic attack, like most today are.
Suicides account for >60% of shooting deaths but get zero coverage. Why not whine about that?
Odd, you seem to be saying you're afraid of the violent, gun toting democrats who are 99% more ready and better armed for violent political civil war than Republicans....but you also claim Republicans have all the guns and are better shots and ready to go.....which is it?
2017 had nearly 40000 gun deaths, the highest since 1968.
The 7 Biggest Failures of Trumponomics
See above...factual proof Trump voters are moronic racists was supplied.
Since you need lyrics, try these-
This is the United States of America, and you got a right to hate who you want!
So let's start bustin' heads!
Black against white
Yellow versus red
The fighting won't stop until we're dead
Until we're all dead
Burning, looting
Riots destroy the masses
Nightfall brings death
City reduced to ashes
Don't call me your brother
'Cuz I ain't your fuckin' brother
We fell from different cunts
And your skin, your skin's an ugly colour
Race war, we're going to a race war
Hate war, we're going to a hate war
Prejudicial homicide!
Bloodshed, rampage
Torture is not subsiding
Chaos, bedlam
Violent ethnic uprising
Muslims against Christians
And the Arabs versus Jews
The Catholics and Protestants
No one wins: we all lose!
Race war, we're going to a race war
Hate war, we're going to a hate war
Everybody's gonna die!
Xenophobic tendencies instilled in us at birth
Are mislabelled racism, hostilities getting worse
Accept the fact my distant cousin, we cannot live in peace
Isolated environments, they may just be the key
Human beings suspicious, soon fear grows to hate
We'll have each other by the throat if forced to integrate
Mothers watch their children die at each other's hand
Cain and Abel set the course, ethnocentric command
Race war!
Hate war!
You can run, but you can't hide!-Peter Steele-Carnivore
How did you arrive at your conclusion. What are your resources? What are your facts? I thought you told me you believe in facts.
Things about Relationships I wish someone told me about
In her longer explanation (5:54 to 6:43) she does say to start with communication, but end it if it continues to be toxic. She never says to isolate yourself, just to find more supportive friends and ditch the ones trying to use you.
I found it interesting how it started by describing a significant other pointing out your friends foibles as intentionally controlling and isolating you, then later suggests that you looking for these foibles and isolating yourself is a positive move. Telling someone to isolate themselves is controlling, telling them you notice and object to others disrespecting or abusing you may be consoling.
I also found it telling that the suggestions are "end it....or try to communicate", in that order. Sounded amazingly backward.
I feel like the writer has had a long string of toxic relationships and no healthy ones.
I've been with my wife since 92, married her in 98, we are the only people in either of our extended families still on our first marriage, so I do have some small experience with maintaining a healthy relationship.

Robbery Stopped With Swords
Funny, but the robbers had axes. The owners had a defensible position and swords. Since this is known now, the robbers can bring bows and...soon you end back up with guns.
The only alternative to this is to disarm everyone, knowing the criminals will not obey, and hope that the 'safer' weapons the criminals do use will at least allow for a less wounded victim. This method also relies on the victim to capitulate completely in mortal fear.
Many might prefer the second method, I do not. Sadly, most nutjobs and criminals know that good targets can be found in any state, some much more than others but realistically any state is vulnerable.
Why? Because even in gun friendly states, 'gun free' zones exist. Nine times out of ten, that 'gun free' zone is going to be the target. You will hear stories that say "Oh, a person was shot at a gun range/show" or "Chris Kyle was killed with a friend at a gune range." What those stories leave out are the details, because the headline is what matters when you are pushing an agenda.
The gun range Chris Kyle was shot at is an outdoor one, the three men were alone and isolated. The mental one shot two men and fled. You will hardly read that, usually the image they want to present is that multiple other gun owners were standing around and did nothing.
You will see stories about people shot at other ranges or at gun shows. What they generally won't mention is that almost all of them are due to either a self wound (suicide) or an accidental shooting from poor handling.
I was just going to say that. Looks like it's the father about to take his son's face off actually.
Also, see, Americans? If you don't have guns everywhere, you don't NEED a "good guy with a gun". (also the "good guy with a gun" doesn't end up getting shot by the f-ing police when they show up as has happened twice recently now)
