Guy Tries to Steal a Plasma TV

What if Earth had rings like Saturn?

5,000 volts is enough to crush a soda can

Watch 2:20 - 2:32

I just saved you 2:37. You're welcome.

The reason I didn't like this video is that he utters magical internet video words, "Here we are with a new 5,000 volt power supply...This thing has actually never been tested." But everything goes OK.

Greatest wedding procession ever

rychan says...

How can people be negative about this?!

These are some of the most genuinely happy people I've ever seen. It's so innocent and good natured.

And as it happens, the cinematography is (coincidentally) quite excellent at 3:00 when the groom stands up, straightens his tie, and the rest of the procession swims by. If I made a montage of the best Internet videos ever, those 30 seconds would be in it.

Also someone should make a "things we should not do, because a lot of people have done that already and its on the internet" video.

1) Stand close to a rally car track
2) Race cycles in the rain, or on a wet track
3) CRASHING YOUR CAR INTO WHAT EVER THE HELL THOSE STUPID PILLARS THAT COME OUT OF THE GROUND IN THE UK ARE.

The Complete Guide to the Future

While two idiots in this presentation were clueless then (as this is a 1990's presentation), as they are now, I do not accept this video as 'legit'. There are many places in which the video seems to be dubbed or redone to push a political point. While I dislike what these people have to say, trying to dub it to make it seem even more evil, is just evil in itself. Why not just play the whole video, as it was, and let the two individuals pass or fail on their own merits?

This is a video from Everything Is Terrible. They find old VHS tapes of terrible things and make short internet clips of them. I'm very sure that they don't dub anything. The most they would do is chop up the video to make it look like they're saying something funny. The re-editing is to make it funny and short enough for an internet video. Their only agenda is hilarity. Apparently this guy makes prophecy videos that are 10 solid hours long, so you really don't want all of that context.

Mentally Challenged Man Beaten to Death

kronosposeidon says...

I agree with blankfist. What happened to this poor guy is newsworthy, but the video itself doesn't have any larger meaning. Unfortunately people get murdered every day, for all sorts of awful reasons. Now that the police are involved, keeping this video here becomes questionable.

I can also see a reason for keeping it: The video itself has shown the power of internet video. However, I don't think that's a good enough reason to keep it, because the power of internet video is already pretty well established. That's just my opinion.

Just to be clear, I still think the death of Neda should stay, because her death has become symbolic of the Iranian struggle for freedom, just as much as the Burning Monk became a symbol of the Vietnam War. Neither deaths are ordinary, if you'll excuse my usage of "ordinary" in this case. History has already judged both deaths as significant in the course of human events. It wasn't me, or you, or any one person here who did that. The world sometimes collectively reacts the same way to events, and especially to images of events, and before you know it, it's in the history books. Like it or not, history works that way sometimes.

Anyway, this poor dude's death, however sad it may be, probably doesn't belong here because it doesn't hold any special historical significance, especially since the police are now involved with the case. Now it has become just another random American homicide, which happened to be caught on video. So if someone's going to tally votes, count me in the "remove" column.

Rocket Nut Fail

I honestly don't know how you can imagine that a bunch of dumb-ass adrenaline junkies had such funds as to stage such an elaborate hoax, with the CGI work and the smoke machines and all the other stuff involved in making a non-event look this real.
Where did they get the money to make a 30 second internet video with the best faking technology available to the film industry? What's it advertising? Do you get what i'm trying to say?

No I don't think it was CGI. A simple fishline guide up to his crotch, and a second explosive that is set off as he jumps out of sight would do it. It would be tough to get the timing right, but not expensive. Still, there's really no reason to fake this either, so it's just as likely that it's real. I'm just astounded at how lightly some people take their reproductive ability.

I hate to say it, but this looks fake. The rocket is way too stable driving into his crotch, like it was attached by a wire. Then they explosion happens right when he falls out of view behind the car. But the clincher is he appears to have no burn damage to his hands or underwear, despite the apparent explosion of a firework attached to his pants.
And honestly, if it's not fake, what were they hoping to achieve? I know there are people stupid enough to risk neutering themselves for a stunt, but this looks like it was designed specifically to remove his ability to reproduce. It's not like taking a paintball to the crotch, we're talking about explosives here. It's like lighting an M80 between your legs. I just can't see anybody doing that on purpose, even dumb-ass adrenaline junkies.

Firefox 3.5 Treats Videos Like Web Pages

demon_ix says...

One of the major points of the HTML5 is to remove the absolute dependence of current Internet video on plug-ins such as Flash and Silverlight.

>> ^Farhad2000:
As web developer I believe this is completely useless. It ties web development to one platform. No one is going to build pages specifically for FF3.5s feature set.

As a web developer, I have no doubt you will learn the new features in HTML5 when the protocol is released, to be able to use them properly.
What I found more interesting is the video player swap, without interrupting the actual stream. At the moment, any attempt to do something like that would involve reloading the embedded object completely, as far as I know.
