The Daily Show on Chaz Bono and the Nancy Grace Nip Slip

cito says...

Congress, FCC, and Lobby groups across the nation were up in arms and shocked at Janet Jackson's nipple slip. Fines were levied, apologies made, new FCC rules put into motion.. Howard Stern and many "shock jock" dj's had more fines due to new rules after the Janet Jackson nip slip, I remember stern talking about for weeks cause of that nip slip he's got hundred thousand dollar fines.

Now where's the controversy? I swear it proves they only used the jackson slip as excuse for bigger government and more laws and fines attacking free speech in the media and now that those laws are in place them not reacting to this shows their hypocrisy

What does Sarah Silverman's vagina smell like?

>> ^Ryjkyj:

Considering that most Americans don't get Sarah Silverman, I'm more than happy to be lumped in with the intelligent few that do. See, the whole idea of Sarah Silverman's "act" (I can't believe I'm actually having to explain this on the Sift) is to appear as annoying and stupid as possible. Now, you can shrug that off with a witty "well, then she's very good at her job", but that's the whole point. The really funny thing about her is that she annoys people, while the rest of the audience sits back and laughs directly at the people who don't understand. And she IS indeed, very good at her job. You're just not realizing that you're falling for it. So calling her annoying and meaning it is just you... missing the point.
I'm not sure how you could possibly lump her in with Kathy Griffin but I love when people use the whole "shocking" cop out. See, the way that a lot of humor works is that after the set up, some unexpected or "shocking" occurrence ends the joke. It's about reversal and surprise. That's why they call it a "punch" line. People try to say the same thing about Howard Stern, Louis C.K. or even in some cases about George Carlin, when the fact of the matter is that the people who say that kind of thing are still being "shocked" or surprised by they're favorite comedians. It's just that in their case, the favorite comedian happens to be someone like Jeff Dunham, Sinbad, or Carrot Top. But the idea of the reversal is still the same. Some people just find talking Jalapenos more shocking than others.

Dude, I don't like her as a comedian, that has zero to do with "getting" her or missing the point. Just because we don't share the same taste doesn't mean the world's gonna end. Different people like different things, get over it. Next thing you'll try to convince me that I don't like Ben Affleck because I don't "get" him...

That, and her annoying and obnoxious voice/behaviour is what I don't like about her. Her humor is probably "shocking" to most Americans, but to me it just comes off as boring and cheap. Her and Kathy Griffin, bleh.

Radio Personality Called-Out On-Air About "Indiscretions"

Skeeve says...

As for it being off-air, it's my understanding from people who were listening to the Bear, that this was live. Unfortunately I was listening to Howard Stern contemplate, on-air, firing Benjy Bronk for being late for work again. Lots of radio drama that day.

There are a lot of people saying it's fake, but I'm not completely convinced. While I would have hit the mute/off-air button if it had been me, maybe he thought he could talk his way out of it and then got caught up in the argument.

If it is fake, they went to a lot of trouble, actually making the sex tape, seen here.

I think one thing we can all agree on is that it was indeed a nice ass.
I found this in the comments on reddit, though:
The guy making this video is Joey Boots, known for being on the Howard Stern show. His site is full of videos of him trying to cause a disturbance to get laughs. He’s not focused on getting footage of the girl (in fact, he’s openly gay) but the reaction.
Something to consider... he seems to be one of those rare IRL trolls.

The video freak was interrupting people who were clearly trying to do their job. Note that the second lady to complain was the photographer's assistant, holding the lighting reflector. Surprised no one's noticed that.

The photo team was no doubt trying to finish their shoot despite the obvious idiocy around them, until it got out of hand and they had to bolt.

I question the judgement of all the people involved in deciding to do this photo shoot of a 17 y/o in one the most public places in the world and while she is wearing those tiny shorts.

In defense of the lady who confronted Joey; It seems to me that she did not just randomly confront him for filming the girl. I think that she is her mother or grandmother and she looked over his shoulder and saw him zooming in on her crotch. He was also walking back and forth trying to get a good angle on the girl. I would be pissed off also, but I think it was still a very bad idea to have that girl (child) out on a street in NYC flashing her crotch.

I have a friend that has been good friends with Joey since high school. I'm gonna get him to ask him why in the hell he was filming her ass to begin with. He is flaming gay. I would assume that since he is part of the whole Howard Stern Wack Pack, that he was probably trying to stir up crap to bring attention to himself so he could have something to talk about on the radio show or maybe trying to get footage for the show.

Kassem G: Californians on Canada

And Jay Leno ripped off the "Jay Walking" segment from Howard Stern's "Man on the Street".

Plus, this video was likely inspired by The Hour has 22 Minutes' "Talking to Americans".

Not much is completely original nowadays.

Judge Napolitano: The Plain Truth - The Government Lies!

GeeSussFreeK says...

>> ^marinara:

i would respect the judge more, but he's 100% against net neutrality. he loves turning over my internet connection over to abc/disney so they can profit off my tube.

Would your rather the government control that tube? I assure you, they would be far more restrictive, ask Howard Stern. I would like to see what his take on it is if you had any links on that I would love it

I think a better cure would to let other providers into these non-compete zones so people can have real consumer choice instead of governments legislating people into these horrible situations in the first place. >> ^NetRunner:

"At least [newspapers] go out of business when they don't tell the truth."
Uh, it's a little rich for someone on Fox News to say that truth has anything to do with the business model of modern press organizations.
For example, that's not part of the quote from Jefferson...

To me, it was rather clear that was his own attribution, not part of the quote. He was also (Jefferson) big on reading, by which I mean, having a free press doesn't matter if most of the population is illiterate. He is usually seen as the champion of small government, but it was mainly he who made the push for public education. In that, if the public was smart enough, it would be able to see that Fox and other news companies are more interested in news that leads and bleeds than gauges the pulse of history.

Sen. Franken: Stop the Corporate Takeover of the Media

GeeSussFreeK says...

Each packet is already treated differently on the internet and people haven't had a problem with it. For instance, I have a premium membership at file planet. As such, I don't wait in lines, and have faster service on the whole. AOL, and Google treat individual users to different ad experiences based on their profile. These types of explicit and implicit relationships make the internet the crazy mashup that it is, it is what makes it work. There might be a market for people who want to pay extra to have their traffic prioritized. When you are talking about a finite thing, that is worth paying for. For example, if someone on the bogged down AT&T network wanted to pay extra to have a bigger piece of the network pie, companies should be allowed to offer such things.

The REAL problem is that new network infrastructure isn't allowed to be installed by anyone other than explicit government enforced companies. As such, the network gets more and more crowed and the cable companies can charge people for these "deluxe rate plans" and not have to keep their services competitive. This has only changed small amounts in the era of high speed; once cable and DLS started to offer similar rates and speeds both sides tried to get the leg up. But in reality, they are still dealing with huge areas of influence against outsiders making it even more competitive. If Comcast becomes as data unfriendly as AOL did in its hayday, people have no choice due to decades of government control.

In reality, you don't want the government telling people what they can do with their pipes, the end result is worse than if you just opened up the markets to outsiders wanting to string up new services. It is no small stretch of the imagination to presume if the government starts getting in the business of telling ISPs what they can or can't transmit with priority, it will lead to what they can transmit at all. Like if they decided to crack down on cyber bulling, a very hot political subject right now, the FCC could demand that ISPs can no longer deal traffic to sights that have anonymous posting. That would be letter of law now instead of just one punk ISP trying to pull one over on consumers. The internet will remain more free the more you keep the FCC out of it, just look at their track record. How many small independent radio broadcasts companies exist? Well, it has gone form about 70% before the FCC to about 5% now, and less than 1% for television. If you want huge media corporations taking over the internet, then you want the FCC involved in the regulation of the internet.

Ask Howard Stern or George Carlin about the FCC and how open they are.

Yeah he's a great impersonator...would have been funny.
I was going to post some other impersonations of his...him calling into Howard Stern show...one phone sex call with a porn star in the Arnold voice. Although the rules here say not to have anything against specific races and the video mentions mexicans a couple times...deporting them etc. So Im guessing someone else will grab em and post em up after reading..it's happened before heh.

The Howard Stern video is pretty funny. Definitely NSFW though (as expected, it being Howard Stern). As for it being against the posting guidelines, he does make a few off-color remarks about his housemaid being Mexican but I don't think they would get you in trouble as they are in a comedic vein and really make fun of Arnold instead of Mexicans. That said, I'm not sure how many votes that video would get here on VS.
