I've had fried calamari, more than once, and it never did anything for me. I thought it tasted bland, and I didn't care for the texture. Still, I'd be willing to try it again if it were seasoned, as long as it wasn't too spicy. (I like spicy food, provided the spice doesn't overwhelm all the other flavors.)

I don't recall seeing the Anthony Bourdain clip that you're mentioning, but I'd watch it if you found it for me. And served me some potstickers. Mmmm...potstickers. In reply to this comment by Issykitty:
Personally, no... but Issy and Frankie probably would. LOL! I do enjoy having grilled octopus and squid at the Korean BBQ, and it is usually marinated in a sauce that contains very spicy gochujang (hot pepper paste). Have you seen the Anthony Bourdain clip of when he went to South Korea with the producer of his show who is of course Korean? I will find it. I believe it is on here. It is a most interesting episode!

Have you ever tried this? If so, remind me to NEVER mess with you. Anyone who could do that strikes fear into my bowels. Yes, bowels.

The fun of eating a live Octopus!

Fusionaut says...

I don't know if biting into something that is still alive is all that wrong under the right circumstances. It happens in the wild all of the time. Dunking it in a hot, pepper sauce before the first bite seems cruel to me though. However, I did eat a live mayfly once. Grabbed it out of the air and then CHOMP! The wings got stuck in my teeth. Now you know a weird fact about me.

Naga Viper - Worlds Hottest Chili

kronosposeidon says...

When I was in 2nd or 3rd grade a friend of mine dared me to eat some type of hot pepper, the variety of which I can't identify for you. All I can tell you is that it was small and red. His mother was Italian and a good cook, and she sometimes cooked with spicy peppers. Well that little pepper was one spicy little bastard. For at least half an hour my throat and mouth were on fire, and for the rest of the day all I could taste was that damn pepper. In my little kid's mind I thought that I might have that pepper's taste in my mouth for the rest of my life. It was a scary experience on several levels.

That does sound good - if maybe a bit too "pre-digested" if you know what I mean?

I still say that Melts are the best breakfast ever.
Roasted potatoes, cut up into homefries size and fried up until they're nice and crispy, with cooked maple sausages, fried mushrooms, onions and shredded cheese, all mixed into a pan. Then layer the top with more cheese and broil it.
Top with two fried eggs, and nothing, and I do mean NOTHING, will ever compare.
Like this. sorta.

We Get some hot peppers, but they are mostly the asian variety- which are pretty good, but I wish we had more habaneros and jalapenos.

Homeopathic A&E - Mitchell & Webb

This conversation is over. You aren't even reading any of what I said. Nothing of what I said is even disputable.

Pressure Points exist. IE spots on the body where the nerves are especially sensitive to physical manipulation.

Chemicals in our body that can induce altered states do exist. IE hormones. I did not specify which altered state.

There are also many ways to release the chemicals and hormones in the body. Dying releases a chemical. Eating a hot pepper releases a chemical. Drinking suppresses a hormone. Exercise releases causes chemicals to be released.

Perhaps acupuncture can as well.

I said nothing about the validity of the beliefs behind it.. just that they do seem to coincide with the science of the body we know by other terms.

Stay in school, and stay on videosift. Maybe you'll learn to read.

I donwnvoted you because I'm an asshole and I dont like your tone, plus what you say is contradictory and false.

What Are 13% of Americans Afraid of?

joedirt says...

Seriously guise.. Babbage and Turing? If only my computer was an electromechanical device the size of a house. Have you ever heard of a semiconductor? And the internet is clearly came out of mostly US military, US Universities and US silicon valley. Also, nothing Comedy Central does is funny, it's a joke and more like ironic humor that they are called Comedy Central (it's dark humour).

Long John Silvers > newspaper wrapped cod

Also, how about sugar, tomatoes, potatoes, corn, cocoa, hot peppers, turkey, beans (except the blackeyed pea), pineapples

Enjoy your non-American cuisine jerkops.

Anyone catch what she gave as the replacement for fish sauce?

I believe she said you could just use a little more salt if you didn't have fish sauce. My mom makes this w/o the fish sauce, but with hot pepper flakes (nice and spicy) and korean pickled radish juice and it is delicious!

Korean dish: Cold buckwheat noodles (naeng myun)

Issykitty says...

Instead of rinsing with all that water, I usually use a bowl of iced water (LOTS of ice) which I dump the noodles into after draining them. I swirl the noodles in this super-cold water until they are very very cold and then drain and squeeze them out. This seems to work fine. also, the more hot sauce, the better! I like to put a lot of very spicy radish kimchee on my naengmyun. I actually have a much simpler recipe that tastes great and is spiced up in a way that you don't have to add any hot pepper sauce. I learned from my mama, so I can't divulge her secrets!

A Gay Brigadier General Asks a question

sometimes says...

@Lurch

It is normal behavior for the opposite sex to be attracted. You are supposed to seek sex with the opposite gender and it being pleasurable should make you want to do it. If you weren't basically programmed this way from the start, there is no guarantee the species would effectively reproduce. Seeking pleasure by having sex within the same gender is not natural. Something is incorrectly wired in your brain for that to be appealing to you. No different than someone who needs to have pain inflicted for sexual excitement. That is not natural, something happened to make that person that way.

what about people who eat hot peppers? the hot oil is a defense mechanism for the pepper. eating hot peppers is not normal or natural. Planting rows of peppers is effective in keeping elephants away from an area.

Doing something because it is "normal" or expected is probably the worst reason to do something. are you really that big a fan of conformity?

Also, the body is not "designed" for sitting at a computer, and that has all kinds of side effects, like RSI, Carpal Tunnel, bad-back, fat-belly... is that also a moral issue? or is this more about justifying prejudice.

additionally, up until recently, inter-racial or inter-caste marriages were not normal, and were considered immoral. shall we go back to those times?
