Donno how old you guys are, I'm 26 and people have been dropping like fucking flies lately. It sucks.
Luckily we'll all make it to the singularity and be able to live forever on the Internet!!
Be strong bare and keep your loved ones close.

Just stumbled on this. I'm sorry for your losses and my heart breaks for your uncle.

By the way, my Aunt Gene died on Friday. It's a blessing, really.
Now I worry about her husband. They had the heartache of burying all three of their childen -- my cousin Gaylan, age 57, died in his sleep last fall. And now my uncle has buried his wife. He does have grandkids, but he hasn't lived alone in over 50 years. I don't think he'll be with us by Christmas. He has a bad heart, and this is just too much, you know?
A generation is leaving us. My family has been lucky to keep so many for so long -- but now they are going, and going quick. We've lost five in the last two years. Plus Gaylan.
My dad is still here. In good shape mentally. He likes where he is, a VA Center in Oklahoma. It has a fishing pond out back. He is in charge of the fishing tackle closet, keeps everything in good order. When one of the guys has trouble with his reel, he goes to my dad. When some of the simple medical equipment jams, he fixes it for the nurses. He's 87. Amazing.

1. N.W.O.
all the locals hide their tears of regret
open fire cos i love you to death
sky high, with a heartache of stone
you'll never see me cos i'm always alone

how to love without a trace of dissent
i'll buy the torture cos you pay for the rent
tied high with a broken command
you're all alone to the promised land

i'm in love with this malicious intent
you've been taken but you don't know it yet
what you will know must never live to be found
cos it's the subject of the eyes of the drowned

SiftPollQuisiton of Queen Isobel for Abuse of Power (User Poll by schmawy)

Okay, KP. You're right. I was being samefully dramatic when I said "purged". I retract and apologize. The sift has always been fair to a fault, and I have suffered heartache from supporting the unpopular, as I do know. And watch, BobKnight will end up being a huge pain in the ass, probably, but I'd rather we let guilty people free than jail the innocent.

The Dears ~ Whites Only Party

rosekat says...

Yeah, lead singer/songwriter Murray Lightburn is pretty damned righteous! Class struggles/oppression are common subjects throughout the band's catalogue. That, and tragically romantic heartache-- somehow ALWAYS with dash or dose of hope.

Dangerous thinking there, Laura.

I upvoted Laura's comment, and thus for a referendum on reinstatement (as if), because I fundamentally like Choggie and interact with him frequently outside of Siftopia. I think he has a beautiful mind, be it full of razor wire and pitfalls. I think he's reckless with people's feelings. I recognize that he feels that it's for their own good and agree with his challenges for the most part, even if his style wouldn't suit me at all. Many of those he's challenged feel clearly abused and I don't think he's justified in his approach in some cases, but I can't say for sure because a lot of is with private messaging. Some might have needed a good shot of Choggie.

Dag said it himself, He adds a lot of excitement and interest to the community, but also headache and heartache. But that's the Choggie trip, right? And I agree with Swampy. Hat in hand. And forget about a fourth channel.

Bring him back as a bronze. That way he has to show us more of his excellent videos. Because they are awesome.

Officer Rivieri at it again

budzos says...

Marine, you voted against my post on this topic. Vote whore, lol.

I don't say fuck the police. I'm for law and order. That being said, the cops have caused me a lot of undue heartache in my lifetime, and to this point a cop showing up has never been a good thing, and usually just meant somebody was probably gonna get in trouble for some moralistic bullshit. I know it's not the cop's fault, but you are the asshole showing up to ruin the party nonetheless.

Talk to Kids

ronin165 says...

Usual disclaimers apply, I don't expect anyone's views to be changed by my comments, just expressing my opinion (whistling as I slip into my fire hazard suit)...

Sex is the most intimate moment that two people can share. It is so emotionally involved that the two people will always have a connection. break that connection by breaking up, and bad things can happen.

Why would you want to share such a special moment with anyone other than the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with? Why would you want to "sample" other people before you get married? You will always be comparing your life partner to those other experiences.

The abstinence message worked for me, and I couldn't be happier (one wife, one partner). I have friends that the message didn't work so well for, and they wish they could take it all back (bad breakups, single parents). Who needs the heartache? Who needs the comparison?

If the abstinence message has such a high failure rate, I have officially lost faith in mankind.

Adjustments for the New Year (Sift Talk Post)

rickegee says...

I am with Dag, Bug, and Lucky on this one.

Four days is plenty of time and it has the effect of encouraging gold stars to freely use the saves. Besides, it can't all be joy in the Sift. Nothing is more cathartic than the heartache and bitter, bitter tears (FN: INXS) that come from a post that expires in need of a single vote.

If you get 10 votes within 4 days, then you have sifted a quality video. Otherwise, you just have a smelly vidoe.

First the person above is totally insane. And needs medication. I fear for her children, especially since they are all daughters. So much heartache comin'. AM suprised the husband didn't step in smack her and tell her to calm her ass.

Faith is needed at a certain level however, I mean I agree with everything you guys say. I know that religion and all is a strech on our preceptions, I respect all religions and tolerate them all (I can't stand people converting me, its creepy). However I do believe faith is needed. In my extended family alot of my uncles and aunts have reached ripe old ages and retirement. In the closing years of their life they commit to religion and such because they had little less left, their children had grown and moved elsewhere, they could no longer work, they threw themselves selflessly into their communities and turned things around by doing charity and donation work under religion. They didn't do it becuase they were fundamentalists, they did it because they were coming close to crossing over, and in those times of solitude they needed the comfort and support that is offered at most religious gatherings. This is why religion in some sense is important. There is alot of instances where faith is regained because of a particular traumatic experience, I used to belittle such instances of lapse of reason but slowly you understand that for some the shock of lose or death is so great that they cannot cope on their own and need the psychological comfort offered through faith.

And that's all that religion is, psychological comfort. You don't die you progress to either heaven or hell based on your behaviour. Someone is always watching after you. You are never alone. So on and so forth.

My ex, has a deep fear of being alone. Over many covnersations I have had with her, her main driving reason for believing (but not practicing) is the fact that believing makes her feel like she is not alone. And in some people that is such a large psychological controlling factor, that institues faith. She is totally a rational person, but this psychological fear she possess drives this link to religion.

Thats my 2 cents. Myself? Am agnostic, I believe in the life, and not a religion because for all the shit out in the world, you can always go to the edge of the ocean and marvel at the beauty, complexity, and vastness of nature.
