Racist Australian Senator egged by hero kid

Mean Tweets – Oscars Edition

dannym3141 says...

I have just laughed so hard that i was nearly sick at the "you look like you've got Whoopi Goldberg in a headlock."

Even though i've got no respect for twitter trolls, sometimes the insults are sublime.

Pow, Right In The Kisser

I've never needed to think about this before, but it makes me grateful I don't live in a country where the wildlife can put you in a headlock and choke you out.

trump supporters get violent with silent protesters

newtboy says...

Goons. Hired goons.
...but...
being police, they have a duty to enforce the law and protect citizens even when off the clock, so letting Big Hoss put the guy in a headlock, then just walk off is a dereliction of duty. If we had their names, they might lose their jobs over it, because many people would make formal complaints and end their careers...as I think they should if the cops don't do their jobs.

I don't get the rent-a-cop thing... in other similar videos where one or more folks are protesting silently or sitting in the audience with signs (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-s2dm2AuUr0) uniformed police are asked by Trump to remove the trouble makers, or the disturbance is large enough that the police intervene and again, remove the troublemakers. Are these guys on the clock or are they off duty paid goons? The fat boy in the cowboy hat should have been arrested for his actions, no?

The brown shirt reference is well chosen. Don't know about others, but this is some scary shit, and the asshats that are following Chump have zero appreciation for both the freedom to vote and the responsibility to the country in doing so.

Leave me Alone, I'm Warning You!

such a simple way to fix this sort of thing.. ban the owner from having a dog.. this jerk off owner is the reason why people like me with well behaved dogs end up getting them bitten or yelled at on the street/park/beach because the timid idiot owner has MADE their dog nervous or aggressive by the owner either being that way, or just poor handling

my dog is a big chocolate labrador, very muscly, very strong, and he hasn't been done so from time to time in his life he's toughed up to me to see who's boss.. growling at me, or getting a bit too serious in a playfight..

so when he does that, i grab him roughly (and avoid the nips he makes at me, he'd never bite me intentionally), get him in a hugging style headlock and show him by not letting him move and holding him down that i'm in charge

but of course, i know when i do this he won't actually bite me.. but that's because i've always let him know who's top dog! if i'd let him win a few times, or shown him my fear when he tough'd up to me, maybe he WOULD try to bite me, and that'd be my fault and my responsibility to fix

This is why they made Tasers

Aemaeth says...

This is why cops use batons: so they can beat someone into submission before they can actually become a risk. I'm not opposed to cops using force to subdue a criminal who is resisting arrest or assaulting an officer (particularly when they are on drugs). The problem with these kinds of scraps is that according to the law of averages, we'd start to run out of cops if they all used headlocks and grappling to make arrests.

This is why they made Tasers

I've seen the full version on youtube or some other site (maybe on that livebreak site, what's it called?).

At the end, Colombo says the guy was trying to get Colombo's gun, so he was having to control his hands, and when Colombo used pepper spray it got on both of them, but the guy was too drugged out to be slowed down by it.

Full article here:

... ''I walk up to him, and he immediately shuts the trunk, and he calls out, This is my car.' "

Sure it is. Colombo pulls out his radio and calls for backup. ''271 to control," he says, but before he can say anything else, the suspect lunges at him, knocking the radio from his hands.

... The taller, bulkier suspect is throwing roundhouse punches and jabs, his long hair flapping in his face. He is grabbing Colombo in places that few men like to be grabbed.

A pudgy guy in a blazer walks past the fight and keeps going. An MBTA bus drives past. The woman behind the camera is yelling for help into a phone.

What's most amazing is Colombo himself, the consummate professional even under attack. He can be heard on the tape constantly shouting, ''Stop resisting and get on the ground."

''If I was in a street fight as a kid, I would have done it differently," Colombo said. ''I would have been more violent. But as a cop, to make an arrest, we have to use the minimum amount of force required. We can't go over."

Colombo finally gets the exhausted suspect in a headlock. He tells some onlookers they could help if they want, and several men rush over and grab various limbs while Colombo places the guy in cuffs.

At the end of the tape, the restrained suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Ruben Delgado of Dorchester, is still kicking up a fuss, telling people he needs water. Colombo says to him: ''Negative, sir. Sit there and relax."

Fascist Cop Takes His Bad Day Out On Some Skater Kids

sometimes says...

Imagine for the briefest of moments that the guy doing this was not a cop. Imagine some random adult put a kid in a headlock, threw him to the ground, and stole his skateboard because the kid was being "disrespectful".

Imagine the outcry from that. The guy would be sued and possibly jailed.

Without an arrest, there is no difference between that scenario and what actually happened.

Police have only a very limited number of extra legal rights/privileges compared to normal citizens.

Jumping kicks in MMA are generally a bad idea.

zoinnk says...

I've been watching MMA since it's early days and consider myself pretty well-versed in the various techniques. I've trained a little bit myself as well.

jmzero is right, this was a very irresponsible match during the early, unregulated days of MMA. When I was watching the video, I was thinking, why is the guy holding onto that headlock? It served no strategic purpose in that position and will only drain him of energy in his arms and/or get him hurt. A few seconds later...

This match should've never happened and would never happen in today's UFC or even the more minor promotions.

To the person who said MMA is boring. That's your opinion, but I would say that to a trained eye, grappling is extremely technical and interesting to watch.
