Autumn Leaves - Yenne Lee plays 2004 Pepe Romero Jr.

ulysses1904 says...

I loved this. My father was a fan of the Carlos Jobim bossa nova records popular in the 60s and my first guitar was a nylon string he gave me when I was 12.

This clip brings me back to that unique sound, makes me want to go buy a nylon sting guitar and throw away my picks for awhile.

$100 Bass Guitar Vs. $10,000 Bass Guitar

L0cky says...

I learned two things:

1. The difference between a $100, $700 and $10,000 guitar is quite clear.

2. When you play that well, the difference is quite small.

Digital Hygiene: How We Might've Fucked Our Attention Spans

Jinx says...

But then aren't you using the internet as a tool? Learning guitar, even with the internet, is hardly instant gratification. You still have to sit there developing a loathing for your FUCKING STUPID FINGERS OMG WHY CANT YOU JUST GO WHERE I WANT. I'M LOOKING AT YOU ESPECIALLY RING FINGER...ahem.

I read an article a little while ago about a guy who gave up the internet entirely for a year. He found that at least to begin with his mood improved, he felt more fulfilled etc...but by the end of the year he'd simply found non-internet based unfulfilling activities. I think humans just like to be comfortable, but comfortable is rarely (if ever) fulfilling. You have to be careful not to fall into the trap of "learning" that one song you can play well over and over because its more gratifying than swearing at your fingers.

But hey. Its lent. I'm not religious but maybe it isn't such a bad thing to give up some comforts for a little while.

Keanu Reeves reveals plot details of Bill & Ted 3

poolcleaner says...

I have watched Keanu's reaction to there being a role for Whoopi over and over, and I think as he says "Oh God" he catches himself accidentally giving it away that her role will be as GOD.

Edit: I think it unnerves him so much so that he can't stop thinking about his accidental leak, thus does a poor air guitar in the end. In the past, accidental leaks have been pretty bad for actors -- David Prowse suggested Darth Vader could be Luke's father at a conference before Empire.

I'm down. Strangely, particularly if Whoopi plays, uh, Rufusina.

Street performer bass battle

transmorpher says...

This is why bands usually only have one bass guitar. They tend to play off at each other until one of them asserts it's dominance over the other.
