It'll be a miracle, what with Green Day playing in the background...

"The Final Countdown" - TERRIBLE COVER
For a minute or so I thought this was Green Day; then I realized it can't be, because the singer's a little better.
SLUT- "Easy to Love"
I'm sure I got it wrong, let me look it up...
Of course It exists, but I totally missed it. According to the almighty god Wikipedia, post-punk was really an eighties phenomena. I guess in my mind "post punk" = Green Day. I stand corrected. Anyway, this tune has some good drive to it, whatever genre it may be.

I don't usually watch live music videos unless they are my favorite songs (not bands -- don't actually have a favorite group). I will chekc it out later.

Yo, ant old chap. Here's a live performance of a great song that oxdottir submitted that didn't sift for some reason. Think you could take a look?

Black Flag - Rise Above
I am glad this is up. I posted the Circle Jerks clip from Decline of Western Civilization and it died a horrible death. Really depressing.
On a more depressing note: The related videos are Green Day and Bouncing Souls.
Chumbawamba - "Tubthumping": Yeah, I get knocked down too...

Oh but... oh but...
xxovercastxx:
"I have not labeled anyone a "brainless dipshit" for liking this song. "
And
I specifically said I don't have any issue with people who like this song, so I'm starting to think you all just enjoy being offended and/or arguing.
Except that your original comment was You know how sometimes you have one of those moments where you just realize that you're surrounded by brainless dipshits? This song at the height of its success was the biggest such moment I can recall.
That's what sent us all off... You did label those who enjoy it as brainless dipshits via that comment, and that's what gave us cause for some 'discussion'.
Later you honed that comment to be more along the lines of that you hate people who suggest that this is a great song, which I tend to agree with, but at the same time if said people also enjoyed a wide range of music with integrity and artistic value as well, are they not allowed to think a simplistic, catchy tune is also great?
Still, I'll join in the lament of really great music not being appreciated by the masses, but enjoy listening to what I enjoy.
And to illustrate the point that I have no claim to 'great taste'... here is some of the artists on high rotation in my media player:
The Beatles, Metallica, VAST, The Waifs, Live, The Whitlams, Bryan Adams, Enigma, Chris Isaak, Barenaked Ladies, The Tea Party, David Gray, Green Day, Era, Bernard Fanning, Dave Matthews Band, Marcy Playground, Regina Spektor, INXS, Vivaldi, Pink, Missy Higgins, Meat Loaf, The Wallflowers.
See... in that small sample of what I enjoy I'm sure most people would have some that they'd go 'Nice' to, some they'd go 'Oh my god, how embarrassing', some they go 'Who?' and so on... everyone has different tastes, different RANGE of tastes. I enjoy many, many other artists than those few I just grabbed off my media player, and within them there are sure to be more cringe worthy artists, more 'who's, more 'nice'... let everyone enjoy the full range of what they enjoy.
You Tube allows access restrictions? (Sift Talk Post)
Changed the other video I had that was embedded from that Youtube account. (Green Day - Longview). Guess I'll just avoid record labels's official accounts in the future.

It's playing for me.
I got the embed off the record label's youtube account, so it's not going to get pulled.

The Top 20 Coolest Guitar Riffs
I am very strongly against the rage against the machine "riff" on this list. On the basis of the riff itself it's garbage. I am not familiar with the track, so maybe it is totally rockin'- but it's not rockin because of a so-cool-best-ever-omg-killer guitar riff. One chord and a wah-wah pedal do NOT a "riff" make.
That having been said, I would also scrap Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Marilyn Manson, and Lynyrd Skynyryr from the list. Mr. I have too many ys in my name is a very very catchy riff, but DAMMIT that's not rock- it's country!!!
... what's that? Oh this isn't just for rock?
Shit, well that opens up a whole new bag of cats now doesn't it?
What about
Mason Williams - Classical Gas
Django Reinhardt - Minor Swing
Andres Segovia - "Asturias"
Or even programmed guitar- how about Ministry - TV II, or Nitzer Ebb - Murderous?
OK, so nobody will ever pick those, I agree. I'm just saying, if you want to have a list, you've got to pare it down SOMEHOW. Just rock, or just metal, or something.
But whatever, as was pointed out, nobody will ever agree with a list, and while there are GLARING deficiencies with this one (in my opinion), my strongest beef with with rage against the machine. That isn't a riff. It's a chord and a wah pedal. argh.
Other than that, the list needs Metallica (Enter Sandman or Master of Puppets), probably at least one more beatles (Come Together, or birthday), some CCR (Suzy Q), and some floyd (Another Brick in the Wall, the trippy trippy floaty guitar riff at the beginning of shine on you crazy diamond, money, any of a dozen more), and probably at least one doors and one santana track.
Then change the Jimi to Voodoo Chile (slight return), and AC/DC to highway to hell (or just get rid of ACDC altogether) and we'll have a much better list.
OK!
