Game Of Thrones: The Story So Far (Comic Con Trailer)

In the book it seemed to me Loras loved Renly like a subject loved his king. I guess since Martin is onboard with this series that it may have been more. Definitely wasn't man gravy slurping gay though.

No, this is wrong. You should reread it. They are both gay in the books. It is meant to be something you have to puzzle out, like "J" is "L" and "R"'s son. On your reread, you will realize that George put in a ton of clues for you. Rainbow Guard. Loras never leaves Renly's side. Renly loves bright colors. Renly never consummated his marriage, and everyone believes it. Even things that Renly and Loras say to each other can be taken as one thing, but meant another. Speaking of that, many of the jabs and derisions that Littlefinger and Varys point in their direction are also clues.

It is easy to read Martin's books and miss how much he is putting into each sentence. It really comes out only after you have read them a few times. In some sense, he is a master at foreshadowing.

Anyway, my advice is to read it again.

EPIC MEALTIME-EPIC MEATLOAF

Ryjkyj says...

I don't like the stuff they do with fast-food. But the "TurbaconEpic Thanksgiving" was well... epic. And not in the new-age internet sense. I mean it truly, truly was skillful, innovative, Greek tragedy-style EPIC.

Also, people who put ketchup or any sort of BBQ sauce on meatloaf should be burned alive and served to me as ketchup-free meatloaf with gravy and mashed potatoes.

Yup. I stand by every word of that. The whole Wisconsin kerfuffle had almost nothing to do with "fairness". It was all about Union power and money. To a man, the protests were bought, paid for, and stoked by a bunch of swaggering, thuggish, threatening, mafioso sleazebags.

And after the law passed they are not done. They're going around threatening businesses who don't actively support THEM (unions) with financial ruin. They are threatening families. They are threatening people. They are using violence. There is nothing to praise about these people. They are scum and don't deserve one iota of sympathy.
But of course they are not done. This Cenk vid showing them ratcheting up their rhetoric and activity was easy to predict. Unions were never going to just shrug and go, "Oh well - guess we better start behaving..." Nope. Not with Indiana, Ohio, and several other states in the process of passing similar laws that scale back on the lavish union gravy trains in many locations. The unions know they are facing a huge tide of popular sentiment against them, and they are going to bus in every thug, make every threat, slap every woman, punch every old guy, and beat up any kid they have to in order to make sure they can keep living like pigs on the public dollar.

God-fucking-dammit.

This is not about some "mafioso" union crime bosses. This is about a Republican governor and Republican senators eliminating by fiat collective bargaining.

Collective bargaining! The heart and soul of the only protection and means of progress that the laboring class has ever known in the history of the human race.

From wikipedia: Collective bargaining is a process of negotiations between employers and the representatives of a unit of employees aimed at reaching agreements which regulate working conditions. Collective agreements usually set out wage scales, working hours, training, health and safety, overtime, grievance mechanisms and rights to participate in workplace or company affairs.

The unions acquiesced to Walker's salary demands. They acquiesced to his demand to contribute more to their health care. And yet, even as they acquiesced to the financial aspects of Walker's plan, this still wasn't enough. The Republicans voted to eliminate nearly ALL collective bargaining rights.

Read the above definition of collective bargaining again. Do you really think it's moral to strip workers of the power to declare their workplace is unsafe without fear of retaliation or access to a grievance system that protects them from unfair discipline or termination, or any of a thousand other issues that infringe on basic human rights?

Collective bargaining means far more than just wage negotiations. It is the means by which ordinary workers across a broad range of careers have any leverage to stand up to enormous government and corporate entities (which in this day and age are nearly the same thing thanks to people like the Koch brothers who are funding Walker's criminality) that can and do exploit them in any way that is not strictly prohibited by law.

This is class warfare.

•Corrupt union leaders then personally negotiate with thier pet-elected corrupt politicians to freeze unrealistic pay, benefits, and work rules for unions

Throughout this entire mess, I have not seen any evidence of the lazy, overpaid union workers like the right keeps claiming. Where is the gravy train? From the studies I've seen, the union workers are at best paid a few percentage points higher than non-union. And the ones I believe, which take into account required education levels and responsibilities, indicate that public sector union workers could do better in the private sector.

I don't buy it. If the union workers are earning too much money, show us the proof and we will elect officials who run on the platform of negotiating for more reasonable pay levels. That hasn't happened, and it makes me believe that it's a load of bullshit.

Even if it is true, the proper route is to demonstrate the problem to the public, not bust the unions. We're the boss, remember? It's our money. Let everybody decide how to fix the problem if there is one. But right now, the majority of Americans are firmly behind unions. This whole Republican union-busting movement is a despicable end-run around the will of the people. And if there is any justice, they will be crushed for it in the next election.

Yes - I'd say the greed and selfishness of these labor unions and their rent-a-mobs are quite dangerous. Hope Walker stands 100% firm and tells them and their masters to pound sand. Or - better yet - hopefully it all falls through and he has to fire 12,000 of them to balance the books. These bozos are cutting off their noses to spite their faces.

Theyr'e willing to meet his fiscal requests, but they AREN'T willing to give up the right to collectively bargain their wages when those wages are at or above the NIC. That's what's going on here. These unions know quite well that if they can keep that cherry, ridiculous benefit that they can turn right around in 90 days and force all the concessions they make right back into their contracts.

Labor unions for decades have had rather too much power. These are not people fighting for a 'living wage'. These are unions fighting to keep POWER. And - no offense - they have proven 100X over that they are unworthy of the public trust or dime. The wages of the 'workers' in this equation are over 20% higher than the wages of private workers on average. If their wages were 20% UNDER the NIC then maybe I'd be sympathetic. As it is, all I see are a bunch of selish whiners who are demanding that they should be able to keep swimming in oceans of gravy rather than wading in a lake of it.

The pendulum has swung too far. It is inevitable that it MUST swing back the other way or the system istelf will collapse. Deal with it union bozos and dupes. You're just reaping what you've sown with years and years of abuse and greed.

Fountain Lady was in the same boat. No one knew (or cared) who that blurry silhouette on the video was until she decided to go on TV and threaten the mall with legal action.
Keeping quiet might have kept her criminal record from going public as well. I hope she wasn't trying to keep those felony charges secret. =X

I don't know, I give her more credit than that. She didn't start giving interviews or go on the today show to lessen her public humiliation.

Her civil suit will be centered around the grief caused by that humiliation, so anything she can do to amplify her grief now will translate into gravy further on. However, this only works as long as she doesn't appear to be courting further abasement, which is why she pretends to be sort of dumb. A cunning plan.
