Obama Gives Monsanto Get Out of Jail Free Card

Lawdeedaw says...

The federal courts don't sell seeds and they cannot be sued

Anyways, the problem with the courts is that they deal with issues that are not catching up with the times. Gay marriage? Too new a civil rights issue. Corporations are people? Yeah, but that's okay because it doesn't take away our democracy, does it? Damn goggle won't tell me!

If we want to truly look at government the way you do (That it can in no way go outside of it's scope for any reason) then you are effectively saying much with this myopic view--in my opinion. For example, in a free market capitalism, it is not the governments job to throw up one roadblock to any form of success. Monopolies are currently discouraged even though it is not the job of the government at all to do so. It's counter to capitalism. Free enterprise should be ruthless and profit driven. It's only checks and balances should be the consumers. One monopoly should have already risen to take over all America's communications, industrial and consumer services. Another monopoly for natural resources; food and gas, etc.

This is the true result of competition. One chess player wins the tournament and takes home the prize, the others lose.

Then when these two companies want to discourage protests and such, they should be able to block out entire neighborhood's food supplies and starve them to death. (This has happened in other countries since the beginning of time--though mostly government owned there is no reason a corporation cannot do this.) After all, it's not their job to provide people food--they are just a business and if they want to pull their business, meh. After all, the people dying are competing with the corporation.

You may find this analogy off track, or even silly, but I am trying to point out something serious. Government either changes with times or we destroy ourselves.

Ps, wrote rather quickly because I gtg. Wife and kids stuff.

Sigh, its not a federal courts job to stop health issues in food, its the FDA. The EPA is responsible for any environmental problems they cause. This really does nothing.

Edit: also federal courts can't halt sale, they can be sued for damages if they make a seed that hurts you.

TYT: GOP Takes on Big Bank CEOs?!

Republicans!!.........DEMOCRATS!! CEO's, bankers...(watching the world burn and editorializing on the spectacle with in-eloquent, imitated verbiage, through smudged, mud-encrusted goggles.)

TYT claim to fame (using newsspeak) making a name off of the opinion of their fawning press and how peeps REACT to anything completely out of their control, AND LAUGH AT YOU WHILE THEY SUCK AT IT!! I maintain as always, TYT yet another iteration of the same fucking tools, designed to render helpless those who may not be capable of using a simple implement.....saaaay, a shovel or mallet.

The Invisible Bicycle Helmet (Some thought it can't be done)

Deano says...

I did a lot of what now some would consider risky cycling in central and South London many years ago and never had a problem without a helmet (couldn't have afforded one anyhoo). I had a few accidents but you'd expect that. Cycling sensibly and avoiding large vehicles will see you safely home most of the time.

Of course that was pre-radical Health & Safety where every little activity must be accompanied by safety goggles, a helmet or comprehensive assessment. All of which is ever so slightly out of whack with the real risk e.g the reason why you don't see kids play in the streets anymore.

Popping a Mercury Filled Balloon in Slow Motion

MilkmanDan says...

Anytime you see people working with mercury these days, they are decked out in full-on hazmat suits, masks, etc. My dad had a bottle of it, and we poured it into a plastic container and played around with it with our bare hands at least 2-3 times while I was growing up. We were careful with it, but not like to the extent that any modern video you see with it would show.

Big Brother / Public safety gone mad? Crazy / cavalier / irresponsible dad? Bit of both?

Messing around with it was fun, and I think other kids (or at least teens or young adults) should have that opportunity unless it really is as dangerous as all that. I seem to have managed to get by unscathed though.

--edit--
Information like this make it seem like a real bad idea to encourage people to handle mercury without gloves/mask/goggles. I know (and knew at the time) that the gas form was bad news, but I've heard enough anecdotes of people handling the liquid stuff in ways similar to my experiences with it that it seems like it could be done safely in a High School chemistry lab sort of environment -- even with brief bare-handed handling.

Then again, I remember a student in my chem class taking a big direct sniff of the vapor over a test tube of sulfuric acid when he was specifically told to waft it just to get a sense of it. That resulted in a profusely bloody nose. I suppose the worst-case scenarios with mercury are worse than that, and maybe the positives don't outweigh that even though it is an interesting case of a metal liquid at room temperature.

I've never been to Russia--but what are the odds that two random women are both extremely HOT?

I had lunch with 3 Russian ladies that all had kids last weekend, I can confirm from my empirical study that 100% of Russian women are hot. Lager sample sizes both needed and desired...perhaps regularly, in my room.

"Lager sample sizes"? You mean they're hot when you have beer goggles on?

In you mate's Guinness when they're not looking
Lot's of places to see eggies in agua mon~

Yeah, but I'm not going to do any of these. I'd never in a million years even think about this, never mind do any tests. Yet here I am, a few clicks and I've seen it all.

How to See Underwater Without Goggles

oOPonyOo says...

This seems so simple and element, though I have never tried, heard of, or seen of this before. And I've seen alot, but never through underwater breath-goggles. So going to try this, but not youtube it. Also, without the hair cap.
