Future of Motion Control Gaming

mizila says...

>> ^westy:

probably the future of gaming but not using a projector , it would use augmented reality on vr glasses/contacts/headset , the tek already exists just need better vr glasses really.
saying that thought it was a realy good video clip I do however feel he missed an opportunity to do something that was likely/realistic.
visually i thought it was pretty cool and easy for people to understand and i'm sure that's what his main proities were

Yeah, I had basically that exact idea bout 10 years ago. Then I realized you can't just 'invent' things that use technology that doesn't exist yet.

Augmented reality glasses are going to be a huge deal when they finally get it right. And then it's just a couple of years until they start implanting that shit in your eye and we all have personalized HUD's

Then next thing you know you can't tell what's real if 'they' don't want you to. Like people going all Laughing Man from Ghost in the Shell.

I think the music is epic, as are the opening songs to the Stand alone complex series. I think the stand alone complex series are better than the movies.

I think konno has many other better tracks..I wouldn't label this chorus track as epic. I am with you on the series though. The GiTS tv series is some of the best science fiction action out there. It makes me sad that there dosn't seem to be a 3rd season or any new movies in production atm.

as much as it is visually awesome movie, holy crap is that story incomprehensible. you have to re-watch it like 5 times to understand everything that's going on there..

Strange, I got it the first time. But, also the fact that most of the movie did not have The Major in it kind of left it feeling flat.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution E3 2010 Trailer

All the ideas and tone in the trailer were taken from Ghost in Shell, not impressed at all.

I'm a huge Ghost in the Shell fan, both the original movie and the series. (I also hate most anime.) But, seriously...does GitS have a monopoly on the concept of people becoming cyborgs? I mean, the themes in this trailer aren't even that similar to ghost in the shell. This trailer's all about corporations vs. the people, sweeping change in culture, etc. GitS was sort of beyond that stage for Japan...when people were more used to this stuff being around, and it was more about mind vs. biology/technology.

Anyway, people borrow heavily from other people's crap all the time. They had a story on NPR the other day about this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Der_Ring_des_Nibelungen

It was all about how Marvel comics borrowed heavily from it, people argue Tolkien borrowed from it (there's even a section about Toliken/Wagner in that wikipedia article.

TL;DR version: IP does not mean "nobody can ever make another creative work about this concept ever again".

I dunno about that. The whole cyberpunk theme started in the US some thirty years ago.

And of course, we could probably go back further and further from country to country looking for who invented what and who was influenced by whom.

ghost in the shell called, they want their concepts back.

srsly, american sci fi has been blatantly ripping of masamune shirow for almost 15 years.

Agreed on the above comments.

Honestly, if you watch Anime this was just a cut clear rerun of every action anime convention ever. Nothing original. It felt like watching a mash up of Ghost in the Shell and a couple of other action animes.

Indian Terminator: Fight the Matrix

grubert says...

This is not hilariously bad, if you compare it to Birdemic for instance. The bullet dodging in The Matrix was a ripoff of Blade and the movie itself was inspired by Ghost in the Shell and other anime. Some say it borrowed heavily from Dark City.
Mixing both Terminator 2 and the Matrix special effects doesn't mean the plot line follows the same logic. India produces more movies per year than any other countries, including the US, therefore one is bound to come across cheesy stuff like this.

Sorry I'll have a cigarette now.
