Xbox Avatar Kinect - Steve Ballmer CES 2011 Keynote

"Save me, Spiderman! Save me!"

xxovercastxx says...

I probably sounded pretty snide but that wasn't my intent.

My point is every few months someone with a diamond or higher starts complaining about how hard it is to get videos sifted. This is almost inevitably followed by requests to lower the threshold.

First, the irony of someone with a few hundred or more sifted videos complaining about how hard it is to sift them is like a multi-millionaire complaining that his income has dropped in the recession.

Second, the last thing we need to do is lower the threshold. We have more than enough toothless dogs, Japanese gameshows, Jessica Rabbit fanart slideshows, and Funny or Die clips without lowering the bar.

If someone can't get votes, maybe they should sift something that sucks less. At the very least, do what I do, and grumble to yourself about it.

Also, apologies to @blankfist who is the apparent recipient of my ranting here. It's not meant to be directed at him, but I've seen this happen enough to know that his comment is the type that will snowball into a mass hysteria like I've described.

Ooh, ouch.
No, it's not a responsibility to upvote. It's a responsibility to participate in the community of which you're a part. It's this second sense of responsibility which I suggested was being diluted by the increasing scale of the site.
Is there a problem here?

I also discovered the same thing. It's probably safe to call *dupeof=http://videosift.com/video/Press-Your-Luck-Madness and the same for the other video

The description is well done, so it's a shame that this is a dupe of

river-wins-Big-Bucks-No-Whammies
which turns out to also be a dupe of
http://videosift.com/video/Press-Your-Luck-Madness
The first of the two is the higher quality though, so I'm not messing with any of it

True Blood - We are NOT your equals!

Matthu says...

@Tymbrwulf What are some shows on t.v. you consider good shows?

For me, Dexter is the best show on t.v. and I think it has some of the best writing I've ever seen on t.v.

Also, breaking bad is pretty good too.

I know it's "popular" to say Dexter is a great show, but that doesn't make it untrue.

Also, you know why I think HBO and Showtime and AMC have better shows than the big networks? 'Cause the friggin' big networks put fucking NOTHING but reality t.v. I am SOOOOO fucking sick every damned night a dance show, or a talent show, or a singing show, or a cooking show, or a gameshow. EVERY GODDAMNED NIGHT.

I enjoyed Boston Public for a bit, I didn't watch it all the way through, but it was a good catch every now and then. But now? I can't think of a single good, well written drama on any of the big networks.

What do you say are good shows atm?

EDIT: Actually, House maybe. But even that has gotten stale and has gone downhill imo. Also, I reality thought the reality t.v. thing was a fad or a phase, something that would end soon, but no. It soldiers on, shamefully, night after night after night.

Wayne Brady Has Fallen To A New Low

Throbbin says...

Really? I don't think so. Between the zany, low-rent crowd, the stupid costumes, and the lame dialogue and jokes I thought this was pretty bad. Yes, Drew Carey is doing better, and good for him. This show just comes off as a cheap runner-up to The Price Is Right.

I would have pictured him with his own comedy show by now (a-la chappelle show). I never thought he was that funny, but apparently he has a huge fan base. Even that lame "Don't forget the lyrics" gameshow was a step-up from this.>> ^EmptyFriend:

seems like a pretty good gig for someone from a moderately successful improv comedy show. what else would you picture him doing? even drew carey has basically the same job now, albeit for a better show.

What kind of jerk get's told his video is a dupe and then instead of fixing a video just marks it dead so his video can stay and the four year old classic video can't even be fixed now.

I followed the link and saw the video was dead, so I marked it as such. Videos have been allowed to remain because of the slightest difference, so I don't really care that you think that video you saw 3 years ago was exactly the same one. Prove it. All I see is a dead embed.

I don't get this unquestionable loyalty thing.
I don't like America. I wish like hell I could get out of here, and I hope it happens someday soon.
What? You think I hate the country? No, the land is mostly beautiful. Pretty stupid to hate land.
Do I hate the people? No. Well, some of them, yes. And there's a lot I'd rather not be around, but I can live and let live with them. We've got some beautiful people here. All the world's an American, you know.
Do I hate my government? Well, yes. It sold me out. I'm almost completely marginalized here. I take on the rightwing goons, do my best, fight my hardest. Nothing comes of it. I look to my leftist friends, and they always tell me to basically shut up and be reasonable.
It's not that I mind compromising, but compromising means getting my way once in a while, and that almost never happens here.
Our government is corrupt and ineffectual. Our military is bloated and not really ours as a nation but "ours" in the multi-national corporate sense. If you have no money, you have no justice. A fraction of a percentage of people are allowed to get rich, and everybody else has to fight it out and claw their way through life just to stay alive. Financiers like Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan make a living out of figuring out ever better ways to fuck people over and get a slap on the wrist when they're caught, if that. We torture people. We murder innocents overseas for the sake of convenience. We overthrow governments that we don't like, that won't march to our tune, and call it spreading democracy.
Worst of all, nobody here knows anything. We have to be some of the dumbest people on earth, especially in regards to what's being done overseas on our name.
And I'm supposed to swear my blind, undying allegiance to that? I'm supposed to point to Mexico and exclaim proudly "Things could be worse!"

Bravo. At least burd apologised. But i suspect knee-jerk reactions like his can be traced back to all kinds of things, like stupid fathers insulting some innocent person on a stupid gameshow about something stupid! Videosift imitating life, dontcherknow.

In all honesty, i'd say mostly the same things about england. I hate this fucking country now. I love "england", but i hate this country.

But back to ellen!

Patricia Heaton (Everyone Luvs Raymond) fails gameshow math

handmethekeysyou says...

>> ^Stormsinger:
Actually, it's not that she's not bright...she appears to be just lazy. Since she -did- manage to work it out after the "easy way" failed.

That's actually the main reason that (most) people are bad at math. They just don't put in the effort to figure it out. That starts at a young age and continues throughout school and adulthood. As math gets harder in school, people get left behind and are convinced it's a confusing subject. It's very straightforward (at least through high school) if you have a grasp of logic and reason and you put in the mental energy to work through problems. I'm sure you've noticed though that a large number of people have no interest in such things.
