rubenstein9 2: Self-Organizing Robot Swarm

Curious says...

Reminds me of foglets or "utility fog", something that futurist Ray Kurzweil predicts having widespread adoption in the mid 2040's. Essentially you could make any physical shape you can think of, almost instantly.

Unreal Engine 4 - Infiltrator Demo

00Scud00 says...

Nah, the Doom 3 palette was pitch black interspersed with the glowing eyes of demons, whose closets you have just foolishly stumbled over.
That demo (if you could really call it that) was very purdy but several things occurred to me while I was watching it. When our futuristic ninja gets busted I couldn't help but think, "Yep, I hate it when that happens" there's always one nosy douchebag who has to ruin an otherwise perfectly good infiltration.
In the future, shutting down an assembly line won't just stop the line but also blow up at least half of it, if only Henry Ford had thought of this, who knows where we would be today.
As good as this looks by the time a significant portion of the population has the hardware necessary to run this in real time we will all have moved on to Unreal Engine version 6. So none of this is especially practical for gaming purposes, it makes me wonder if they aren't trying to market this to film makers as well.

Ruby Rhod's Evening Show - The Fifth Element

I love this movie... I may very well be one of the few (if not the only) person in the world to have a shot of the movie framed and hanging on my living room wall. I'm such a fan of the 5th element, and futuristic cities, that I managed to track down the company responsible for the SFX, and more specifically, the artist who did some of the matte paintings. I sent him an email a few years ago, and said I was a big fan, and he sent me an image of the shot I had asked, in the largest available resolution.
It's that image of the floating chinese restaurant leaving Dallas' apartment window, with future-new york in the back.
Love it.

The ABC of Architects

Which single building would you choose for each of them? Zaha Hadid's Pierres Vives building looks like a futuristic scifi drawing, or an alien spaceship, and is pretty darned cool. In my list that could stay as on as the official H

Eduardo Souto de Moura's "E" and Zaha Hadids "Z" are a bit forced (first names).

Surely one could find proper representations of such letters, such as Peter Eisenman and Peter Zumthor (Prizker Prize recipient)...not to be a d*** about it.

Zero Punctuation: Medal of Honor Warfighter & Doom 3 BFG

Gutspiller says...

Better than all those WWII shooters though IMO. TBH I like the modern shooters, and I'm looking forward to the dash of futuristics in Black Ops 2.

Warfighter is reviewed as a shit game though, so if you are taking that as the standard of modern shooters, it would be a bad representation of modern shooters.

CoD is killing the genre by not updating their graphic engine though.

Fairly well spot on. Modern shooters have had their run in the sun. Nothing but tripe now, done to death.
