Electric Six - Radio Ga Ga

youmakekittymad says...

for those who don't know, i go bananas over E6.

from wikipedia:
The controversial music video shows lead singer Dick Valentine as the ghost of Queen's flamboyant lead singer Freddie Mercury and a backing band of poodles. Queen drummer Roger Taylor, who wrote the song, said that he was "unimpressed" with the video; however, Queen guitarist Brian May reportedly liked it.
According to Dick Valentine:
“ Though some have claimed this video portrays me dancing on Freddie Mercury's grave, actually it's more like we are resurrecting Mr. Mercury for the duration of the song and his grave is the logical starting point. Anyhow, everyone knows we disliked the fact that we had to put this song on our record, so this ridiculous video took a little bit of the sting out of it for us and made it somewhat bearable. It was also very rewarding to work with dogs.

Indiana Jones: Sword vs. Gun

dystopianfuturetoday says...

From IMDB: The infamous scene in which Indy shoots a marauding and flamboyant swordsman was not in the original script. Harrison Ford was supposed to use his whip to get the swords out of his attacker's hands, but the food poisoning he and the rest of the crew had gotten made him too sick to perform the stunt. After several unsuccessful tries, someone made the off-handed remark, "Why doesn't he just shoot him and get it done and over with?" Steven Spielberg immediately took up the idea and the scene was successfully filmed.

gluonium gone? (Sift Talk Post)

oxdottir says...

Online communities are ephemeral. I haven't been here long enough to know who all the admins are, but short of admins, users will come and go. When I paged through the top 100 users, I think 80+ of them had zero unsifted vids. That doesn't mean they won't have 3 unsifted vids tomorrow, but it might. People come and go in any vibrant community, and sometimes the exits are flamboyant.

I can certainly tell you that if the sift stopped wallowing in free speech, I would stop wallowing in the sift, and I suspect I'm not the only one.

I also think this site has about the lowest ratio of ad hominim attacks of any online community I've been a part of, and I've been wallowing in online communities since 1980.

Letterman Gives Richard Simmons a Raw Interview

Letterman Gives Richard Simmons a Raw Interview

HaricotVert says...

Considering how many times he's been on Letterman's show, I doubt either side is taking the banter very seriously (except for the sake of the audience).

Also, Simmons is apparently quite straight, despite people stereotypically associating him with "gay" behavior (which I think is rather ignorant):

http://www.bobfromaccounting.com/2_11_02/richardsimmonsarticle.html

I think it's just a part of his persona that he's flamboyant and at times overly enthusiastic/effeminate. He's what people often refer to as "metrosexual." It certainly doesn't change the fact that his exercise and eating programs are overwhelmingly effective and successful.

::Edit::

Oh, and theaceofclubz, I appreciate that this was not added to the "Gay" collective/channel for the above reasons.

Does anyone believe we should allow gays to serve openly

rembar says...

Does being gay or lesbian affect a soldier's ability to fight and perform in the military? Choggie seems to argue so, but I will say in my experience, it doesn't. If some extremely flamboyant guy doesn't fit in because of his personality, it's a personality issue, one that will be quickly remedied by a short time in basic, it's not an issue with homosexuality.

Marilyn Manson - The Fight Song

mlx says...

Marilyn Manson just embodies Rock & Roll, don't ya think? I mean the show is so much a part of it, the flamboyant nastiness. The more parents hate him, the better. It used to be Elvis shaking his hips on Ed Sullivan, now it's...this.

You go, girl! LOL.

Death of Salvador Dali

Based on actual events, the DEATH OF SALVADOR DALI screenplay won 1st place at the LA Hypefest Screenplay Competition last year and the project was awarded a Panavision grant. Starring Salvador Benavides, Robert Cesario and Dita Von Teese, written and directed by Delaney Bishop.

Awesome soundtrack too.

Rudolph the Politically Incorrect Reindeer

Michael Moore v. Fred Phelps (Krazy Anti-Gay Khristian Kult)(1999)

SplinterOfChaos says...

Yeah, Micheal Moore might have substituted serious debate for comedy (he is a dark humored, cynical comedian after all), but that doesn't mean we should dismiss his message. And as the phrase goes "if you talk sense to a fool, he calls you foolish." We all seem to agree that this church group is crazy, can we all agree that they could not be argued with as it would prove nothing for either side?

Although, I wonder if acting flamboyantly gay is a good way to remove stereotypes and minimize hate. But of course, Moore was trying to be a jester, not a messenger.

Lyrebird - Jungle Bird Mimics everything

sfjocko says...

From the musical "Hair":

I would just like to say that it is my conviction
That longer hair and other flamboyant affectations
Of appearance are nothing more
Than the male's emergence from his drab camoflage
Into the gaudy plumage
Which is the birthright of his sex

There is a peculiar notion that elegant plumage
And fine feathers are not proper for the male
When ac---tually
That is the way things are
In most species
