Trudeau says Canadians are angry

newtboy says...

Canada and Mexico should not pause their tariffs, and should add 100% export taxes to Canadian energy (so America pays and Canada keeps the money). America cannot keep the lights on without it, we will pay anything to keep it coming, and the Canadians know it, just like Mexico knows we can’t keep food on the shelves without Mexican produce (soon exclusively since American farms can’t find workers to be able to produce produce).

The stupidest trade war in history is an apt name for this fiasco. Every penny doge could ever save has been squandered already with the losses this intentional commercial uncertainty has caused, and the negative effects are just beginning.

Ozzy Man Reviews: Destination Cucked! - Cybertruck Fails #2

newtboy says...

Maybe so about the parts ordering, I can’t find that, still wouldn’t sit well with me that my car could order it’s own parts in my name…and I would expect abuse, especially considering the company owner.

I don’t have one to read the warranty directly, but not covering any damages incurred off the pavement even on flat level dirt roads or driveways is not normal for a truck, especially a 4x4. Fords come with an off road package and do not exclude damages/failures that happen on maintained dirt roads or flat level grass (maybe excluding potholes)…and they don’t get stuck on either!

I feel I can safely say no other truck voids the warranty for “exposure to sunlight, wind, or water”, listed on the “warranty”.

Tesla is well known for covering nothing off dry pavement including damage from puddles or mud (neither of which should damage a truck, and don’t damage Fords).

The parts thing only happens when vehicles and replacement parts are under warranty. @newtboy If you can find the source showing the warranty is voided driving a Cybertruck in the grass then I'll find the same language in the warranty docs for Fords.

This stuff is funny and Tesla doesn't deserve any leeway since their CEO has apparently gone"fact free" lately, but pushing easy to discredit "facts" seems like it distracts from the real issues with these vehicles and the company as a whole.

The Pinto thing is total BS sensationalist stat mining. They include the guy that tried to blow himself up in the Cybertruck in Vegas as someone who was killed by the truck. Really?

The biggest problem with Tesla in my mind is their over-promising and shitty service. I'm not sure how companies get away with promising stuff that isn't available yet but it seems like it is getting more common.

To me it looks like their service problems are a mix of 3 factors.
1. Not enough replacement parts at the ready
2. Service centers are understaffed because of the principal of running at below expected need until shit breaks. Only then can you apply more resources.
3. Service centers were designed to work efficiently but are run by a bunch of idiots that came from other manufacturer service centers so they want to do it "their way" instead of following the efficient hands off model that was originally planned.

Why is it that no one has noticed that the DOGE bags who are tasked with auditing the government’s budget and finding waste do not include a single accountant but instead are 6 inexperienced racist programmers (at least one an active Nazi they rehired).
That couldn’t be because eliminating waste isn’t the point, but stealing billions or trillions through digital theft and covering their tracks well is the point…no, never. Also has nothing to do with the plan to convert our national gold reserve to bitcoin coin.

Billions Lost As LA Still Burns

newtboy says...

I just had a realization….there are now 5000 households from Palisades alone that are “homeless” (except those with second houses) and sounds like another 5000 around LA.
It’s a good bet these are mostly the same people who consistently voted against low income housing in LA, definitely NIMBY. They now find themselves competing for the few available rental properties.
In the short term that’s karmic. In the long term, I wonder what it means for their homeless population and wonder if we can expect an exodus since services and opportunities are about to dry up.
Good time to be in demolition/construction in LA.

On a side note, thousands of animals are now homeless, lost, hurt, or in need of supplies in LA. If you can donate directly to a local rescue, do it. Don’t donate to national charities that spend 98% on advertising and administration costs, donate directly to rescue organizations that spend donations on animals.

Lev Parnas Testifies In Biden Inquiry

newtboy says...

Alexander Smirnov, the Russian agent/ “whistleblower” maga based their entire Hunter Biden “investigation” on has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for making up everything he said to congress, admitting every accusation he made against Hunter was a lie, and admitting it was all baseless lies that many if not all Republicans knew were lies he had been paid by Republicans to create before they started the hearings.

After 4 years of wall to wall Hunter Biden fake “investigation” coverage, you would be hard pressed to find any reporting on this final outcome.

134 vehicle pileup in Fort Worth, Texas

newtboy says...

I don’t think honking would help at freeway speeds, but hazard lights might. If you find yourself in this position, hit your hazards immediately…before you crash… it might save you from the next guy.
In this case I wondered why the people filming weren’t at least waiving a flashlight at traffic to warn them…or something. A few extra seconds to brake might have avoided most of this…as would driving a sane speed in ice which no one was doing.

cloudballoon said:

I've always wondered... why nobody that got in the pileup honks and create a loud cascading effect to alert the incoming ones and slow down to minimize the carnage?

Is that a thing? Does it help? Is it realistic (understand people are in shock and/or physically hurt, so it's not as easy as what coming out of my mouth)? I'm not sure.

That wasn’t very nice

cloudballoon says...

Haven't we seen this before? Anyway...

Maybe I'm in a taking-this-too-serious mood, but not finding it "funny" when all I can think of this is just a stupid TikTok "challenge" thing... BUT it is facinating social study. Adults using (abusing?) kids as tools for likes & subs. How the kids react to the adult's shenanigans.

Observation? This is the hilarious beginning to the end of civilisation I tell ya! We're not getting a hopeful Star Trek finale to humanity! The end is NIGH! LOL.

LIVE Betelgeuse Supernova Explosion Is STARTING 12/24/2024

BSR says...

Betelgeuse is a red supergiant that has evolved from an O-type main-sequence star. After core hydrogen exhaustion, Betelgeuse evolved into a blue supergiant before evolving into its current red supergiant form. Its core will eventually collapse, producing a supernova explosion and leaving behind a compact remnant.
