I really hope there isn't too much Jim/Pam tension this season. It took so long to reach the point they're at now -- I don't wanna see any backtracking! Eeeek! I'm trying to remain optimistic! Either way, I'm really, really, REALLY looking forward to season 5!

I'm also really looking forward to the commercials. No, seriously! Remember that Tide talking stain commercial that first aired during the Super Bowl? So funny. Well, I work at Tide and we had a contest earlier in the year to see who could best spoof the ad. We had some great entries! Oh heck, I'm going to quote them at length - hope they don't mind. They're so keen at RPS about it that they'll probably appreciate it.

... I have the suspicion this will be this year’s Peggle, in terms of the surface-simple Puzzle game which takes over the PC-mainstream.

Except that’s not really true - it’s a much more traditional PC game-game than Peggle, whose puzzles are purely abstract things, with the whole thing’s plot being obviously deeply tongue-in-cheek - hell, the whole graphical style’s appeal is that it’s so obviously ironic. Conversely, there’s little of that in World of Goo. It’s a surreal little, perfectly considered, coherent world, and while it uses irony neatly at a few points, it’s proper-irony rather than so-shit-it’s-good quasi-irony.

And I’m going off on one, which I’m trying not to do - there’s lots of pretentious things to say about it (Hell - for me, everything has a few pretentious things to say about), but they’re not what’s key. It’s just a charming, funny puzzle game. When Jim saw it, amazed by how slick it feels for a two-person show, he noted it passed his girlfriend test in the head - that it’s something he can imagine his other half playing and adoring. When Alec saw it, he thought it was quite something, paused in the MSN window for a few seconds and determinedly stated that it was something we should Champion. And John’s been playing fellow IGF-finalist Crayon physics Deluxe, so no news on that front yet. I bet he likes it.

We’ll hopefully have an interview with 2D Boy just before World of Goo’s release, but you want, you can pre-order the game for twenty dollars from their site. That allows you to become a Beta Tester, if you so desire, and gives access to the pre-order specific profanity pack, which swaps the eeks and ooks of your Gooey charges for my usual brusque idiom.

I've noticed especially recently that animation vids are a hard-sell. Especially if they aren't "man falls down go boom hahafuny" and win an award? apparently sifters aren't impressed by that.

eeeeyeah. let's just say, i "get" what it is, that you're attempting to defend. hehe!

Berticus was saying that it's wrong for people to blame a woman's rape on what she's wearing by saying "you shouldn't have dressed that way and you wouldn't have been raped." And "it's GayBoy's fault he was singled out because of the name he chose."

So, I was jokingly accusing him of being a part of the crowd that thinks that it's OUR fault we were attacked because we won't leave the middle east alone; The "Ron Paul crowd" that thinks we're responsible for other people's actions. We cause them to do this or that.

i think i saw a documentary at the video store about the two finalists, including this guy.

That is very cool bar for two things:
1) The logo reads as 'Maiden Death of', just kinda silly
&
2) The description here says 'the finalist of'... well either it is THE winner or A finalist, you can't be THE finalist.

That is all.

The video itself was cool just for the jumping. Adding SMB sound effects to it, not so much. Also, up vote for the potential Darwin award finalists. All of them.
