This certainly would have made the film better. But you'd still have Ewan McGregor giving a stilted impression of Alec Guinness, and Natalie Portman being equally unnatural. And Darth Maul was a mute played by a stuntman. Without better acting and dialogue, all of these plot improvements would be wasted.

We watched this recently on DVD too - liked it so much we watched Long Way Down - (the Africa one) too. I think @persephone is a bit of a McGregor fan. >> ^Yogi:

It's strange. I'm not exactly sure why but if I was reading a book with this storyline I would be completely into it, but when it's a movie the concept just seems ridiculous. I do feel it has some fairly good actors in it though.
