Do you mean "Stress," by any chance? That is the first song. It samples "Night on Disco Mountain" from Saturday Night Fever (which is why I like it so much, and the sample lends a lot of the shrill musical elements to the song). The overarching genre would be electro house.

Looking into it a bit more, the album from which that track is taken is considered disco house or electroclash which fall under the electro house umbrella. If you are looking for the feel of this specific song, you might be out of luck - it's pretty unique (I am not aware of many similar tracks). But you may find something you like if you look around the previously mentioned genres!

I even downloaded WimAmp like you suggested. I haven't had WinAmp on any computer of mine in ages, but the Milkdrop2 visualization made it worthwhile. It's a completely free download, so if you don't like it you've lost nothing but the time you spent listening to it. I know some people consider this type of music a novelty, but not all novelties are bad, are they? I wouldn't want to listen to it all day, but it's a nice diversion. It's amazing how many different artists he samples. Give it a try.

I know of a few good indie bands out here, but most of them are a bit more to the south (LA and stuff). I'll ask some friends to see what they recommend, I suppose. We'll see how things turn out, lol. I'm always on the lookout for good music though, so I'm sure I'll find something.

We all have our guilty pleasures. As much as I swore I'd never be "that guy", I find myself at the Wavehouse every Sunday listening to electro-house. I used to be hardcore about the music I thought was good, and the stuff I thought was crappy/trendy/trivial, of which much of the music I like now fits. Over the years though, I've found it's better to just go with the music, than to fight it. Take a chance on somebody else's taste in music. Try to view it as they view it. Hell, if you hadn't done that in the first place, you would've never developed the unique taste you have for music today.

I used to be hardcore about the music I thought was good, and the stuff I thought was crappy/trendy/trivial, of which much of the music I like now fits.
