MAGA Catholic Kids Mock Native Veteran's Ceremony

Drachen_Jager says...

The anti fascists are fascist?

Oooookay.

You do know that Communists and Fascists exist on opposite ends of the spectrum and are usually at odds with eachother, right? It's fascinating reading what you have to say. Does it come from some sort of propaganda manual, or do you make it up as you go along?

ANTIFA are the FASCIST.
Antifa flag comes from German Communist Partyin early 1930's.

Keep up your ignorance and you will have another Hitler on you hands, elected by fools like you.

Obama, Mueller and the Biggest Scam in American History

Drachen_Jager says...

In other words, "Hard-Right Trump Supporter Carries Water for Trump"

Not exactly a front-page headline. But then again, all you've got is political hacks who lie for a living @bobknight33 how about providing ACTUAL evidence, instead of a bunch of BS stories that don't even mesh with eachother and have nothing to back them up other than a proven liar's declaration.

Scientist Blows Whistle on Trump Administration

makach jokingly says...

See, the first statement is fine by me. When the environment change people need to move. Thank god we have such great government that allows people to migrate from troubled areas. I'll meet you at the welcoming party, maybe we could house some so that they have roof over their head until they can reeducate themselves and get a job.

I am also glad to see that you are following Trump and unequivocal advocating his adgenda. Leaders love followers. I wish there would be more followers so that we could have interesting discussions where we discuss how much we are agreeing with eachother.

Good thing Trump let this false Fear monger go.

Two Veterans Debate Trump and his beliefs. Wowser.

"We need to find out how many vets are willing to do war crimes. Jesus."

You don't really follow current events, do you?

Since the Vietnam war, American soldiers have been rigorously trained to act instead of think. It's been very successful. So successful that the US is now the best country at the world when it comes to killing your own and accidentally targeting civilians. In the first gulf war, 12 Bradley AFVs were destroyed, NINE of them were by US troops. I saw a video during that war of a spotter for an A-10. Even on the poor-quality video we could see it was a Bradley (this was while I was working with an Armored regiment). The A-10 obliterates the Bradley and all the on board were certainly dead, he calls back over the radio, "I believe that was a friendly, over." To which the spotter says, "Oh shit, I was afraid of that."

Your soldiers kill eachother without fear of repercussions. Why the hell would they worry about war crimes against other people?

Beyond LARPing---Full contact sword fighting

AeroMechanical says...

Pretty common too. There's a paintball field where I go and airsoft/paintball, and about once a month or so they have a big medieval LARP event where people wack on eachother with swords and stuff. I haven't actually seen it and it's a newish thing, but apparently it's getting more popular too.

There's also zombie themed LARPing where they use airsoft guns.

Words We Invented By Getting Them Wrong

AeroMechanical says...

I find sentences that have two 'that's in them annoying. It's annoying that that works that way.

My proposition is to create a new single word, thithat, which has the same meaning as two that's next to eachother. I pronounce it that way when I'm speaking. Two that's in a row doesn't seem odd when spoken, only when written down. Therefore: thithtat. It won't be annoying anymore thithat works that way.

ed: And yes I know, you can just use one 'that' but that's not often done when speaking.

ed2: Dammit. The first usage in history of the word thitthat, and I spelled it wrong.

10 Hours of Walking in NYC as a Woman

Yogi says...

I can't imagine it ever happening in New York to me but it's happened in Seattle. Various people and I think it's because I look grumpy most of the time. Even if it's someone saying hi that I know I usually don't like to be interrupted from my thoughts or my walk.

Let's take this in a small village vs big city aspect. Live in a small town where tons of people know eachother, I'll bet the Hi's and the Return Hi's are more frequent and it's a generally nicer atmosphere. Same with say if this person saw someone that she's seen everyday on her own street in New York. Big giant city, you're more on guard you're looking out for yourself or you have a task you need to complete. The person who is genuinely just being nice, might be from the area and very familiar with that street and everyone on it. This new person walks in and they want to be friendly. Doesn't always seem that way because it's a big city and that person could be from anywhere.

I don't know what people should do differently except that understand when a pretty girl smiles at you or says hi it's usually politeness. There's nothing wrong with starting with being polite, just be polite back and not too forward.

FlowersInHisHair said:

Come on, guys who don't think this is harrassment, how many times do you get asked "Hey, how are you", or "how you doing" or wished "have a good day" as you're just walking along in the city? I'm willing to bet it's none. It certainly never happens to me.

Pet Fox Tells You What The Fox Says When Being Petted

Mordecai_Walfish says...

When many animals like foxes and dogs play they commonly will bite the upper or bottom part of eachothers jaw/head lightly as an act of playfulness.

Being that this fox accepts it's owner like part of it's own, I would guess it's just being playful.

I wonder what that mouthing of the hand is all about? I've known some dogs to do it too.

Cool animal, but it looks a little too intense for my liking. A mellow cat is good for me.

"Look Up" a poem about Social Media

Yogi says...

I agree, and here's the change that I've noticed. The phone traveling from the pocket, onto the dinner table. I think this is just rude, you're at dinner with people, spending time with them and giving them your focus, keep it in your pants.

In particular I've seen it in "The Trip to Italy" a distinct change from "The Trip" they have their phones on the table. They're at restaurants with friends or with eachother two funny comedians who are being filmed and are being entertaining. More specifically they're filming this for an audience and they constantly have their phones about, it's annoying.

I don't take calls when I'm in the room with others, I don't text in the middle of conversations especially not when at dinner. Put the phones down, the person who is right in front of you deserves the most attention.

Lilithia said:

I can only speak from my own experience, but I have witnessed most of the situations the poem addresses. It's not the case that nobody interacts anymore, but most people I know always seem to be keeping an eye (or two) on their smart phones or computer screens, fearing they might miss something 'important' on the Internet (like a new meme or a comment by some stranger who disagrees with their views who they might have to argue with, which suddenly becomes more important than the person they are actually talking to). It's hard to make new friends if people are only interested in their social media profiles and making new 'friends' there, but never actually contact each other or spend any time together.
I know people who cannot talk to one another without simultaneously reading articles or looking at funny pictures and videos on the Internet (and thus don't really listen to what the other person has to say); who are unable to do one thing at a time, because it is too boring to talk to someone or do anything at all without further entertainment. They lack the attention span to talk to each other for more than three minutes at a time, or watch a single TV show episode or movie without pausing it in order to watch some videos or post comments online. I have a friend who believes it's too boring to talk to each other without at least playing a video game at the same time. I know people who almost exclusively interact with their real life friends or relatives through social media (who mostly live in the same city).
I like the way the Internet connects people far away from each other, who might not even have met otherwise. I have met several people this way, who I wouldn't want to miss. The problem, which I believe is the main point of this video, is the way it seems to disconnect the people sitting next to each other, which I have experienced myself several times. The problems pointed out in this video might not apply to everyone and every region, but it seems to apply to the people around me.

Duck Dynasty Is Fake!

shinyblurry says...

The guy who made this video really failed to give a thoughtful analysis of the situation. Before I comment, I will clarify that I do not agree with the thought or spirit behind Phils comments. I think they were crude, and fundamentally wrong on a few different levels. I do agree with Phil, however, that homosexuality is a sin. However, so is stealing and lying and cheating on your taxes, and so I do not single out homosexuals for their sins in particular. To do so would be hypocrtical because I fall short of the glory of God daily and I need Jesus just as much as they do.

My comment is that this situation has little to do with Phil or Duck dynasty; it is simply acting as a vehicle for a lot of pent up outrage and angst against the media and the politically correct culture. It's an overreaction, basically, because conservatives in general and Christians in particular feel marginalized by the current cultural climate.

It's an interesting cultural milestone because while Chick-fil-a was popular, it was never in the spotlight of the media or very much in the national consciousness. As a money making and ratings juggernaut, Duck Dynasty is right on the main nerve of it all, and so its fans, typically conservatives and Christians, cannot be easily ignored. Greed has given them a voice because the threat of a boycott is seen as a clear and present danger to many different bank accounts.

So we see two forces now pitted against eachother; one is the real motive of the corporation, which is to milk duck dynasty for every dollar it can. The other is its obligation to appease the politically correct establishment by blacklisting all who have violated the new cultural norms. A&E had no choice in the matter; they clearly had to do something. But, it is all just a facade; they dearly wish they had 100 Phils with 100 hit shows instead of just 1.

So, it is interesting to me because greed is taking the air out of the politically correct atmosphere. Because of Duck Dynastys popularity, the right actually has a louder voice in the culture than the left on this issue. If Duck Dynasty was just an obscure show, Phil would be history. Yet, because it generates so much wealth for shareholders, Phil is pretty much invincible. It all comes back to the bottom line, an idol to which seemingly anything can ultimately be sacrificed, even the progressive agenda itself.

Grabbin some booty

poolcleaner says...

I used to feed my cats live june bugs! Around june/july I would collect a handful and then release them before the pur machines and watch them play... and then eat.

I got the idea when they ran out of my house and started swatting the bugs like wild animals. They even growled at eachother when one caught a bug in their mouth -- stay away, this one is MINE.
