Oh the irony, a friend and I were having a nerd test on who's knowledge of TNG and DS9 was greater just this afternoon!

In my more stodgy moods, I agree with all of this. But mostly I'm just happy for this lady.

I dislike The Price is Right on so many levels. It's inane marketing propaganda masquerading as entertainment. The subject matter of the show is repetitive, useless, boring, and deceptive. It's almost as braindead as Deal Or No Deal. The sole redeeming quality of both shows is the comedy of watching the spastic effusive guests lose their composure.

Do yourself a favor and watch a show with real content instead of this content-free garbage. Perhaps TNG, DS9, TDS/Colbert, Frontline, Nova, Charlie Rose, etc.

Battlestar Galactica: Great show, or GREATEST show? (Scifi Talk Post)

But more to the point, I've never seen it. Is it like a more socially acceptable version of Star Trek? I've always liked ST (at least TNG, Voyager and Enterprise - I never could get into TOS or DS9) but I've just never made the effort to watch BSG.

I'd say its more epic than any of the Star Treks, in that way its more like star wars, where they have a seemingly insurmountable task they must succeed against. All the characters are well developed and flawed, something I relish as too many times our hero's are personality less, 1 dimensional and/or stoic. There's a good bit of poignant social commentary, often on current events, I know that can turn some people off, but I like it. Plus I don't know many other shows that have made me switch between loving and hating a character so many times.

But anyways if you're a big sci-fi fan I highly recommend watching it. Its kind of hard to pick up mid-way through, but all the episodes and mini-series are on DVD, and probably available to rent at your local video store. Worth a try I say.

As for the original post and the rest proceeding it, I have taken to not wearing pants as none can contain the massive erection I have for the show's return, and I am very glad this is the last season because I'd hate for a good show to get ruined by being dragged out longer than is plausible for the given plot.

Ugh.
For the last time, KP, it's called a "millimeter," NOT a foot!
When will you learn!?!

Geek?!? I'm NOT a trekker but yeah, ok, geek it is. Didn't know that bit of Cheers/DS9 trivia, and Dax was right, there was just something undeniably sexy about the "big guy"

Thank you.

I know.

Thing is, on a pessimistic day I could even grant the shadowy forces behind the US Government the lack or morals to pull off such an attack - a cursory review of 20th century history will give you more than enough justification - but to actually plan and coordinate it all? That would require a level of leadership and inspiration I find lacking in the US. You've got Coke Junky McCrackhead in office and a faceless army of technocrats in the bureacracy. I was reading about Section 31 and all that fun Star Trek stuff from DS9 - now *there's* some 'inspired conscious-deprived leadership' that you can rely on.

I know the Bush Administration lied its way into justifying its invasion of Iraq - whether they did the LIHOP/MIHOP thing is a moot point if no one is going to face justice in this world (face it, if they're as effective at covering this up as you think they are, nothing short of a magic truth serum will bring it out of them): at least it's possible to take comfort that there's a nice miserable spot in hell waiting for them if they did do it. Justice may be long in coming by our timescale, but the punishment will be eternal.

Now if I was an American citizen I'd be out in the streets organizing riots and uprisings to overthrow the government back when the Supreme Court awarded the election to Dubya - but interfering in foreign countries' affairs really isn't my prerogative, as much as I wish I had the resources to make it so.

As you can plainly see, this is less a 9/11 thing than a 1. sad judgement/opinion on people, and 2. same thing, the powers that be.
