Goldie - 'Inner City Life' - timeless drum and bass anthem!!

QLIMAX - The Most Insane Rave Party Ever.

Halon50 says...

Yikes, 11 minutes of eardrum-splitting 30" woofers blasting out that bass.... ouch! I went through a few years of a drum-n-bass phase, but got such massive headaches I had to stop.

If you like Trance that's a bit more relaxing than this, I highly recommend Paul Oakenfold's GU007 album. I make sure to listen to the first disc at least once a month!

DJ Krust & Saul Williams - Coded Language (intense)

mt256 says...

Title track of DJ Krust's 1st album - released 99. Very abstract stuff.

DJ Krust ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DJ_Krust )
Krust (or DJ Krust) is part of the Bristol based Reprazent collective, as well as releasing his own solo material. He is most famous in his own right for the mid 90s release 'Warhead' which was one of a handful of tunes released in early 1997 which saw Drum and Bass move towards a more stream-lined sound. 'Warhead' has been remixed several times by both Krust and other artists.Krust is also well known for his 1996 release "Angles" on V Recordings.

Saul Williams (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saul_Williams)
Saul Stacey Williams (born February 29, 1972) has been considered a powerful voice of the hip hop generation as a poet, preacher, actor, rapper, singer, and musician. He is most known for his blend of spoken word poetry and hip-hop and for his leading role in the independent film Slam.

MC Tali - Lyric on my Lip - DnB Music Vid (Dance, monkey!)

Roni Size & Cypress Hill - Child of the West (from Blade 2)

mt256 says...

The Blade II soundtrack was composed of collaberations between pop artists and electronic artists, such as we have here with Cypress Hill and Roni Size. It's a fun soundtrack - check it out - http://www.amazon.com/Blade-II-Various-Artists/dp/B000062RB9/sr=8-1/qid=1168866217/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-1940561-1156636?ie=UTF8&s=music

Roni Size himself, is a *huge* drum n bass producer that has been around since the beginning of the dnb scene. I would say his most notable work is from his collaberation with the Full Cycle crew in Reprazent. DJ Die, Krust, Suv, Ona Lee, MC Dynamite - all huge names in the scene, along with Si John and Rob Meril - bass/drums when they perform LIVE! Seeing a drummer play at 170bpm for 2 hours is amazing...

Pendulum - Slam (drum n bass)

mt256 says...

I love the campiness of dnb videos. this one is quite funny and includes Pendulum at the end (coming out of store). This track actually made it into the UK Singles chart it was so popular!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pendulum_%28drum_and_bass_group%29

Pendulum is a drum and bass/breaks group from Perth, Australia. In 2003, the group relocated to the United Kingdom. They have no affiliation with the late 1990s Melbourne based electronic group of the same name who released the album 3 Knocks.

The group is comprised of Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen and Paul Harding. In 2005 they released their debut album, Hold Your Colour. Critically, the album was well-received in both the United Kingdom and Australia. In addition, it was one of the biggest selling Drum and bass releases of all time. Pendulum have also collaborated with The Freestylers, releasing the single Fasten Your Seatbelt. MC Spyda and Tenor Fly also feature as vocalists on Tarantula. They are currently signed to the Breakbeat Kaos Records label.

The Pendulum sound is typically heavy beats accompanied by low, buzzing basslines, overlaid with epic synthesized leads. They've produced various remixes of other artists, the most well-known being their remix of "Voodoo People" by The Prodigy.

"Slam" is still their biggest hit to date, peaking at #34 in the UK Singles Chart after receiving substantial airplay from BBC Radio 1.

Richie Hawtin - The Tunnel (2005) (minimal Techno)

JEFF MILLS: The Exhibitionist Mix

mt256 says...

This is nice. I like techno (Richie Hawtin aka Plastikman - his DE9 record reminds me of this) but dont know too many big names. I'm def. gonna check more out! Thanks!

Is it just me or is there a noticable slowdown (syncing the right most deck) at 1:25 ?

And a final note about DJ's. I think people dont realize the distinction between being a DJ and a PRODUCER. Any old goon can be a decent DJ and get the crowd pumped, but it's the producers - the people that create the records - that have the talent. Producers are almost always DJ's though
This is definitely a new level of DJ'ing though. Definite talent here.

In the drum n bass world, Andy C is known for his DJ skills - double drops, teasing tracks in only for a few seconds.. relentless. Curious? check out his Nightlife series of albums.

Amon Tobin - Bathtub (trippy artistic clip)

Chemical Brothers - Out of Control

DJ Marky & MC Stamina - LK (music vid)(brazilian dnb)

London Elektricity - Cum Dancing (music vid)(not gross)

Shy FX - Everyday (music vid)

DJ Fresh - Nervous

mt256 says...

Just saw this http://www.videosift.com/story.php?id=24749 (chemical brothers out of control) in the queue and was slightly disappointed after seeing "amazing" in the title. It's a nice song but doesn't get me goin as much as this video!

DJ Fresh is a drum n bass producer. Drum n bass (a.k.a dnb) is a fast, broken-beat form of dance music (~170 bpms). It's hugely popular in the UK. I've been listening to it for years now.

I'll post some more dnb vids as well

Here are some dnb sites:
