Michael Cohen to Trump donors: 'It's time to wake up, stupid

mram says...

It's exhausting chasing down this rabbit hole for you.

I'm going to focus on just one part of this -- does he want to rewrite the constitution?

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-termination-us-constitution/

Just understand that a lot of his rants, his diatribes, his verbal diarrhea, is like the fruit of the poisoned tree -- it's all flash paper and if you even examine it slightly, it has no foundation in reality whatsoever. There was no rigged election, therefore everything even derived from that premise is WRONG. Full stop. No exception.

He has contempt for any process of procedure that goes against his will and has spoken up against it.

Any president who claims to "preserve, protect, and defend" the constitution then wants to gut even pieces of it at a whim based upon his own fabricated, misleading, false, repeatedly disproven agenda is unfit. Consider yourself enlightened.

And that's just the first point.

Is it Legal to Ship Cannabis Seeds in the United States?

newtboy says...

Don’t take legal advice from anonymous Internet personalities.
What he missed is the”or it’s derivatives” part…which could be interpreted to mean if the plant grown from the seed is over .3% it’s a felony (one synonym of “derivative” is “offshoot”, another is “descendant”).
Wait for official clarification before setting yourself up for a stay in club fed. Don’t rely on some random person’s interpretation of untested federal law.

Border Collie Disc Caddy

newtboy says...

She does a lot of what a caddy does, so not deceptive imo. Just a technicality if even that…..

….after finally looking it up, I found I’m wrong twice.

1) singular of caddies is caddie, not caddy
2) it’s simply someone who is an attendant for someone playing golf (or it’s derivatives), so carrying the clubs/disks is apparently not a requirement.

I can admit I was w-w-w-wrong

I guess my title (not the original) is just a deceptive teaser headline kind of thing. Never played golf with either balls or discs, but I can recognize a smart dog.

Color video of Albert Einstein actually explaining E=mc2

noims says...

Actually, I think I can verify this. I remember in physics going through a derivation of why E=mc^2 and being very disappointed that it was just a specialised case of your second equation.

newtboy said:

Hmmmm….
K.E. = 1/2 m v2
E = m v2 (only when v=c)
Does equation 2 include equation 1 or not?
Does total system energy E = 1.5m v2 (kinetic energy + mass-energy) or is the equation really E = 1/2m c2 + (K.E.)?

Anybody?

PFAS: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)

bremnet says...

Howdy - I don't know if "addressed" is the right word. Commented on, but not given sufficient perspective. Having said that, the problem is incredibly complex, so there should be no expectation that Mr. Oliver's video or any other single thesis on the topic could possibly suffice.

Your "one chemical bond difference" is an appropriate consideration, but with recognition that once we reach on the order of C20-C40 length dispersable or emulsifiable molecules as surfactants / surface energy modifiers, the insoluble polymers come into play, with not 30'ish bonds growing one at a time, but leaping to 20,000 or more. No doubt the pool has already been irreversibly pissed into by the irresponsible producers that convert small molecules into very, very large ones, but with some control, responsibility, and integrity in our industrial process owners (yes, hell just froze over) there is no reason why we could not safely continue to produce the polymeric forms of PFAS. We do so for substantially more toxic chemical conversion processes today.

It's interesting to note the (usual) examples brought forward by others in this post (Teflon cookware), just waiting for someone to mention Gore-Tex, but by far the biggest impact won't be on consumer goods that we all touch regularly and recognize the name brands of, but will be on the industrial / commercial uses of these polymeric families that are pervasive in the systems / processes that we all derive benefit from every day. Ironies exist, that perhaps confuse the "all PFAS are bad" premise ... consider - effectively every seal, gasket and control valve in a water purification plant is most commonly made of a PFAS polymeric compound, PTFE included, all tested to rigorous specifications and compliance by specific agencies that do nothing other than deal with potable water (thankfully not the EPA - it's National Sanitation Foundation (the other NSF), or Water Research Advisory Scheme (WRAS) in the UK etc.) .

So my contention and the view of many in the end user community is that it's not the final form of some of these compounds that are bad, it's the horrendous messes we leave producing them. We can't unwind our Clock of Dumb, but killing the entire crop just to get rid of the long ago seeded weeds doesn't solve the actual problem, it makes it much, much larger.

Thanks for your comments.

newtboy said:

To be fair, most of your complaints were addressed in the piece.

For instance, medical implants, fairly stable, yes, but not in extreme heat like cremation, so as used they’re toxic to the environment despite being considered stable and inert.

The reason to ban them all was also explained, banning one toxic substance at a time means one chemical bond difference and the company can go ahead with Cancer causer 2.0 for a decade until it’s banned for being toxic, and then repeat. It’s how they’ve operated for decades.

I’m fine with outlawing the entire class and putting the onus on the chemical companies to prove any new variants are safe instead of forcing the hamstrung epa to prove they’re unsafe. I also think any company that dumped it into waterways should be instantly and completely forfeited to pay for cleanup. No company has the funds to pay for cleanup, but their assets are at least a start.

Mom Reads Sexually Explicit School Library Book to Board

newtboy says...

Oh...i missed it because I'm not a crazy backwards zealot....you mean it's for deviants because it talks about being gay positively. It's not the sex acts mentioned (not described) or even the ages, it's that they're between boys that gives you the heebie geebies. Right?
Sorry, I was looking at this from the point of view of someone who had entered the late 20th century (and the 21st). I forget you people stopped socially evolving and are still outraged by homosexuality, inter racial couples, and any culture that isn't derived from WASPs.

So sorry I misunderstood. 🤦‍♂️

Ghomert Asks If Forestry Department Can Change Earth's Orbit

newtboy says...

Bobby, you are such a dishonest and gullible tool.

You had to go back over a decade to find one Democrat say something 1/2 as dumb as what Republicans put forth daily and as their party stance....and at the time "Johnson's office said that he was a tremendous deadpan and used a facetious metaphor to draw attention to the potential negative impact caused by the addition of 8,000 Marines and dependents to an island of 180,000 people." He never thought you could capsize an island.

So, an obvious joke about overpopulation "capsizing" an island vs an actual inquiry about the forestry dept having the ability and authority to change our orbit. Ghomert was NOT joking....he's a moron and it's time for him and any other moron who believes the big lie but doesn't believe science to walk away from politics.

When your team claims Jewish space lasers cause most forest fires, they aren't joking. When they say Democrats derive magic power from eating live babies, it's not a joke. When they claim that all mass shootings are false flag hoaxes and the dead are fake people, they aren't joking. When they say vaccines contain tracking microchips and mind control serums, they aren't joking. When they go off about the horrors of large corporations buying up property to rent out while making big profits by calling that socialism, they aren't joking. When they say Italian satellites magically changed paper votes from space, they aren't joking. When they say long dead Hugo Chavez rigged the election from beyond the grave, they aren't joking. When they say you should inject bleach to fight a virus they say is a hoax, they aren't joking. Time for your party to walk away from politics and directly into a mental ward, young and old alike.

So sad that's the best you guys have got. Cry me more of those sweet sweet tears of anguish.

Capitalism Didn’t Make the iPhone, You iMbecile

newtboy says...

1) I question your sources, because some of the earliest writings ever found were business ledgers dealing with selling grains as I understand it. Capitalism has been a thing since before writing was a thing.

2) um...I think those kids in China would dispute that....THEY made the Iphones, which created a smart phone market by being useful and fun (for most people).

3) do you believe capitalism and the industrial revolution started at the same time, or that capitalism has something to do with surfs, civil rights, or secularism? Capitalism applied to people is indentured servitude, what we lazily call slavery. Unfettered capitalism created a situation where civil rights needed to be delineated and codified, it didn't create them any more than wildfires created firemen imo.

Some people do educate themselves before acting or making purchases, but it's not the norm.

Capitalism says your poor neighbors should die, because capitalism says there is no value to human life...I did a term paper on that. Value is derived from a supply/demand equation, and there's such a glut of humanity that human life has a negative value.

The government paid for around 75% of the technology development. "...it paid for some of the technology...." is incredibly misleading, if technically correct (the best kind of correct). Without a healthy dose of socialism, progress slows to a crawl and only the privileged few can afford it.

1 word....flip-phones. ;-) (I don't even have one of those)

vil said:

1) Definitely - but without a market improvements fall flat and dont stick. Ancient people had a lot of good ideas but overall progress was really slow and retrograded often until.. well until capitalism became a thing. Abolishing serfdom, general civil rights, separation of church from state and the fall of absolutism made the Iphone possible.

2) No, that is my point. People "discover" things all the time, some of these things are deemed useful by the general public and capitalism provides the tools to finance production and distribution (the profit part is optional - it is entirely legal to sell your invention for any price or indeed give it away for free).

So to get to the original point capitalism did not discover or design the Iphone but it certainly MADE the Iphone.

3) Not impossible but incredibly slow. Generations lived out their entire lives without perceptible changes in their environments prior to the onslaught of capitalism and the industrial revolution. The advent of science from the renaissance onwards was OK, but only once factories and transport infrastructure became a thing did living conditions start to change for everyone.

A big problem with free markets is that they are never really "free". A theoretical free market implies too many things that dont ever happen in real life, like everyone having all relevant information and being able to make a good decision. People just dont do that IRL.

Also not everything can be solved by free markets because you cant just let your neighbors die poor because the market says they deserve it. However the Iphone is really not something the state should subsidize. I understand that it paid for some of the technology that went into designing it. But true socialism would have to make sure everyone could afford one, and would design a cheap bad phone to fit the need.

Mob Punishes Stranger For Not Relinquishing His Phone

Lol. Way to remove "like", why change your M.O. of misrepresenting what's actually been said.

Read the comments there and then tell me I'm wrong....please.

Why did you think it is worth posting? Is this other one just as deserving of views and informative about the groups involved?
https://youtu.be/VE4mC3QtA74
I'm guessing you think not, because it shows armed white thugs (Trump's good people) attacking a black man and not black thugs attacking a white man.

How did you run across it? Recommended by YouTube? Those recommendations are derived from your viewing history, and you have a long, well documented history of posting racist positions and videos.

That doesn't necessarily make you a racist, but it does make you a supporter of racists and disseminator of their propaganda, which is unbelievably odd if you aren't one.

Ann Coulter: The Coulter Veto

newtboy says...

I understand the feeling, but sadly, ignoring the vitriolic bile people like her spout only allows them to go unchallenged, which they convince their naive followers is proof they're 100% correct, so correct even their haters can't contradict them....and it works.

I've always liked that Bill puts her, and other far right wingers, on his show to show his audience exactly the nonsense they're peddling so they can be well prepared to obliterate idiots that repeat it in public.

And yes, she has always failed to hide her schadenfreude at the misfortunes of the less fortunate and clearly derives pleasure from their pain.

Stage 9 - Virtual Enterprise-D Tour v0.0.10

MilkmanDan says...

Sometimes I'm very glad that I live in a country that generally doesn't give a f@$% about US Copyright and Intellectual Property.

Since that is the case, and because I also happen to derive some schadenfreude-esque pleasure from the "Streisand effect", I have decided to download and seed for the foreseeable future the 6GB worth of files for the last version of Stage 9 before the shutdown, including Windows, Linux, and VR variants.

Anyone interested in following suit can use this magnet link, although there is potential for ISP strikes/warnings if you live in the US or other places where they have a less laissez-faire approach to these things than in Thailand (where I live).

Fair use needs protection. When that fails, at least one can assist with unfettered use, even if the powers that be claim that use is illegitimate.
