It's pretty simple: the President said he would work to defuse the partisan politics that were/are tearing our country apart. The Republicans said "No" and took their ball and went home. So he was left with an unfulfilled "promise". It's ridiculous to hold him singularly accountable for attempting to negotiate with religious zealots and morons, and failing to break their dead-lock of stupidity.

I've always seen the tapping on the top. Old girlfriend used to do it with her fingernails, it seemed to work I guess. This is pretty awesome though, I'm glad I know about it.

I did in fact do it on a diet beverage. Actually twice...once in the aforementioned comment and another time (I guess it's a cool party/office trick). Both times were diet and it worked like a charm.>> ^ReverendTed:

250kg bomb couldn't be defused and removed safely, so they had to detonate it on site in Munich last night. Couple of roof trusses seem to have caught on fire, but the pile of ~10000 sandbags caught most of it, it seems. Nobody was injured.

That said, i don't doubt the driver is an asshat, but it's a pretty dick move on the cops part.

The cop wanted him to run over his foot. He purposely shifted his foot slightly towards the front of the vehicle, knowing full well the driver would pull forward. A person who was trying to defuse the situation would have stood completely in front of the vehicle, or at least said something to the driver along the lines of "turn off the vehicle."

But cops are in law enFORCEment. They aren't hired to know the law, just to enforce stuff. So it would stand to reason that he would attempt to escalate the situation to one in which he could utilize the methods for which he is gainfully employed.

I was in Iraq and found an explosive device which was decently obvious. Two wires were coming out the back of the device which ran along a wall through a vent to a back room. My orders were to follow the wires and trace it to the source. They were connected to a car battery with a remote detonator. While defusing the device an enemy soldier grappled me from behind. I fought him off and delivered to rounds into his chest. He was dead before he hit the ground. It was pretty stressful so I turned of my xbox and decided to stop playing battlefield for the day.
