Monkey with cobra

newtboy says...

Debbie downer here.
This is pure animal abuse by sick motherfuckers that should be degloved.

That poor monkey is likely being trained to handle the cobras as a street show, which involves staking it to the ground and having snakes strike it until it becomes desensitized…which means subjecting it to weeks or months at best of abject terror.
Those poor snakes have been defanged, likely brutally with pliers. Notice it strikes the monkey’s arm but doesn’t stick, also hits his leg…no fangs or that monkey would be screaming.
*terrible

22 Problems Solved in 2022

newtboy says...

I see….they have a much different definition of “solved” than I do.
I think that word indicates the completion of a solution to a problem.
They mean simply beginning to address the problem, sometimes just agreeing there IS a problem.
Don’t get me wrong, all these are *quality steps in the right direction, but very few were actually solutions by any stretch.

For instance….#18 is a local concern.
This is far from the first time Klamath River dam removal has been scheduled for “next summer” only to be delayed time and time again. This has stretched out for so long that a few species of salmon the removal was supposed to save are no longer detected in the river. Multiple drought years and heat waves paired with mismanagement and neglect have spawned multiple full river toxic algae blooms making the water poisonous even for swimming, lots of dead dogs, lots of dead and sick wildlife, millions of dead fish.
It wouldn’t surprise anyone if new challenges to removal are started based on that alone, further delaying removal until all strains are gone.
20 years ago the Klamath was a world class salmon river, today it’s often closed to fishing even for native tribes that subsistence fish to survive.
I hardly consider another new projected project START date for the multi year 4 stage removal project to be “problem solved”. After that part is finished, massive river long restoration STARTS. If that can be successful at all, it takes decades and mountains of cash.

Sorry to be a Debby Downer.

Baby Raccoons toy with angler

newtboy jokingly says...

Thanks Debbie Downer....but he addressed that in the description.

You can hear the road near by. Mom probably met here demise there as you would never see cubs on their own with out Mama putting up a massive stink.

Racoons are mostly nocturnal as well so its not common to see them out and about in broad daylight.

Hope this guy took them in or found a shelter for them.

Plizzanet Earth with Snoop Dogg - Walruses

newtboy says...

Nice....
...but unfortunately, I saw that episode (Nature on PBS?) and that polar bear starved to death. It had already been swimming for days before finding land, but was too weak to catch a calf.
It didn't look like a shortage of walruses, but polar bears are having a hard time of it. I can see why too, those walruses are TOUGH. It didn't seem the bear punctured skin. The walrus, on the other hand, did, leaving the bear unable to hunt at all. :-(
Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but that's what really happened there.

Snoop was only on the wrong side because that bear was white. ;-)

Canadian Man Finds Moose Calf, Takes It to Tim Hortons

Not a Debbie downer at all. I went from stupid human mucking with nature to awesome human mucking with nature. You've made this video so much more enjoyable for me.

Sadly no, I saw this on the news and they reported that the mother was killed (didn't say how, probably hit by a car) right after or even during birth. When found, the infant was still wet (you can hear him say so in the video) and had the umbilical chord attached, alone on the road. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer.

Sailing camera with Hand-Eye coordination win!

jmd says...

meh, I'm gonna be a debby downer and downplay the catch to luck, he was able to get his hand in contact with the camera where its rotation and grip helped pocket it into his hand. Had it been rotating the other way it would surly be water logged now.

Tough Russian Bear Survives The Crash.

Thanks for that, Debbie Downer! I hope he's ok anyway.
Maybe we should start putting airbags in bumpers (bearbags?).

They might keep going but more than likely a collision like that inflicts deadly injuries. It just takes time to bleed or starve to death

Star Trek Into Darkness - International Trailer

Fletch says...

So many Debbie Downers. Must be a new hipster thing to rip on new Star Trek, kinda like every SNL vid/thread has some boorish dolt who has to tell everyone that they haven't watched SNL for years because it hasn't been funny since the 70s.

Well... I've been a fan of all the Star Trek series (including "Enterprise") and movies since TOS, and this looks awesome. I used to record the audio of TOS on my Realistic cassette recorder when I was 6-7 years old, and I can still irritate the hell out of anybody in the room by speaking the lines of an entire episode before the actors do. LOVE Star Trek. The first movie established that the timeline is different now. Storywise, prior Star Trek canon is largely moot. Get over it.

You don't want to go see it? Don't. Easy peasy. Anyhoo, you probably all meant to click on this vid.

James Madison clarifies the American right to bear arms

Truckchase says...

Considering the nature of the revolution, it is my belief that the initial point of the 2nd Amendment was to facilitate the overthrow of a foreign (or corrupt) government by the people. That said, when we spend 40% of our tax revenue on the military industrial complex the whole "overthrow government by force" thing is kinda out the window. That & more guns in society sure as hell don't make our daily lives any better.

I guess the point is, we're kinda screwed either way. Maybe we should focus more on taking back our republic through acts of civil disobedience and persistent culture change. Let's just make sure that when we decide to go down this route for a more comfortable living we don't forget that only we, the citizens, can stop the downslide into a fiscal oligarchy.

Sincerely, Debbie Downer

She's high as a kite after getting her wisdom teeth yanked.

ulysses1904 says...

I'm writing a Debbie Downer sketch using your exact words ;-)
>> ^residue:

I had all 4 wisdom teeth taken out at once and the pain medication they gave me for home made me nauseous. Threw up for hours through clenched teeth because I couldn't physically open my teeth. Ended up ripping all the stitches out in the process too so I was a bloody, barfy mess. I thought I was going to drown.
Hmm that came out sounding awfully depressing.. not trying to be a downer over here!
