Liberal Redneck - Virginia is for Lovers, not Nazis

enoch says...

@ChaosEngine

i am trying to unpack your comment.

so you AGREE that attacking people you disagree with ideologically is wrong, but only if they are not self-identified nazis?

because 90 years ago these guys kinda cornered the market in nazism? and well..we don't wanna see a repeat of THAT now do we? so let's punch them in the face....

and that somehow punching them in the face will somehow magically halt any further encroachment of those dirty nazis!!!!

because it was so effective in the 1930's?

ok..how about this...

how about we daydream about cockpunching these knuckleheads, because it brings a smile to our faces but NOT actually punch them?

instead...we allow these cunts..who came to this gig LOOKING for a fight..to bluster and foam at the mouth.to spew their vile and vulgar message of racism dressed up as nationalistic pride,so EVERYONE can see.

and i bet you dollars to donuts one of them knuckledragging retards, who came all gussied up for a rumble...is gonna make a mistake...that inbreeder is gonna just HAVE to use his home made mace,or his shiny new gopher poker on someone...

probably one of dem darn "libtards".

and in this age of cell phone vigilantism, this is gonna get caught on video, posted to youtube and KABOOM!

white nationalist racist nazi party is forced back underground.

because you CANNOT fight fascism with a different flavor of fascism.

fascism is fascism yo,just because one flavor may taste better to your buds don't change that very simple truth.

the problem in this setting is you have TWO groups who are addicted to identity politics, and BOTH are convinced of their own righteousness, and BOTH groups suffer from a horrid case of groupthink.

and this ideological stand has them both certain of their righteousness, and this gives them a moral certitude that violence is an acceptable answer.

because they are the righteous.

sound familiar?

you mentioned 100 years ago,
i will match your 100 years and counter with the previous 5,000.

ideology homie..
the cancer of the deluded.
just ask any fundamentalist christian,or muslim,or jew.....

they will be perfectly happy to tell you how RIGHT they are,and how WRONG you are.

and this shit?
^ this psycho shit?
this is just a puss pocket, erupting from the internal corruption feeding on my countries soul.

economic collapse ain't gonna bring my country down.
nope..
it is gonna be the polarized politics that finally takes this country out.

i hate this..i seriously hate this...

I agree, but i have something else that it smells like too. Like when i was a kid and i'd be out with friends, unsupervised, not yet responsible, and let's say someone swings off a tree and the branch snaps off. He goes oh that shows how strong i am, so before long another kid starts trying to rip a branch off, people are mocking each other, challenging each other's strength. Before you know it, you're in a group with a load of kids like wild animals trying to destroy a tree on someone's lawn, branches and leaves everywhere, dirt and mud and the tree uprooting. I made that example up, but many people have been in that kind of situation as a kid. Mine was absentmindedly throwing mud at a wall because it made an interesting splat. I zoned in half an hour later from my daydream and realised i'd ruined someone's wall and covered their driveway in mud. I did clear it up.

What this smells of to me, is that they were after someone, getting excited and feeling the thrill, suddenly one turns to his mate and goes "dude! do you think we can use those new explosives...?", another one chips in "even better, we've got that APC!", and they all hoot and howl with excitement, grab all of their exciting new toys and go in like the charge of the light brigade. Take out those fences so we can surround them! We need that wall down! Maybe that one! By this time they've forgotten that they're trying to protect people's property and safety, but they're having the time of their lives.

That's what it smells of to me - out of control immaturity and gang/yob mentality. And they're armed with army equipment now. When things like this start to happen, you really have to start questioning how things are being run. How else could it have happened that they gut out a house like that?

This smells like a case of use it or lose it. A while back there was a video posted concerning the militarization of police forces. In short there was a clause where bye if toys weren't used without a certain time frame they were either reclaimed or further gifts couldn't be received. That's my guess, but it's just a guess.

Ostracized to the community of the mad men. Dig it.

@TheFreak: I see what you're saying and I don't ostracize you (as much as you'd LOVE IT), but isn't it the tendency of the intellect to take moments of existence and dramatically augment them? Like a daydream memory only in your head.

BEGIN DRAMATIC MUSIC

The simple form of filming and interviewing this man is as overly dramatic as the scoring, if it were not skipped over by our technocratic brains. I say "our" because were it not for my obsessive hindsight into the comments of others, I'd have ignored these details, as well.

Perhaps the music stands out as more farcical because WE have fallen into the dead zone of normalized behaviors, memetic response; ignoring the obvious fact that a living man in a time now gone, was recorded on camera for all of the world to see and hear and gawk at.

All forms of tampering with that moment in time, including the recording of it -- which he advocated against in the form of "live in the moment" and "LOVE NOW" -- are merely augmentations of the majesty of biological existence; human reality. To be removed of context or placed into whatever context an intellect perceives as worthy.

And then to "CREATE" as is now manifest in our minds as any range of dramatic or mundane; having now been sifted for us to discern or merely to enjoy in passing. We can choose to enjoy fleetingly or dwell on with intellectual criticism, as much as we can ignore it.

Were I deaf, I'd have no understanding, but I'd still see this wild man.

END DRAMATIC MUSIC

Shift change at a French lighthouse

AeroMechanical says...

Aw, and I always used to daydream about how nice and relaxing it would be to be a lighthouse keeper when work is stressing me out. This doesn't look relaxing at all. Before all there was to worry about was that ball of electric green slime that would possess keepers every now and again.

Stay in School Kids

A more realistic scare outcome would have the girls instantly have 3 kids, and everyone standing in a soup kitchen lineup and the beach (sans explosions) was just a fond memory or daydream.

i had a black dog-his name was depression

dannym3141 says...

A particularly bad day, sorry for my earlier comment.

I think i was trying to make the suggestion that i don't see it as a weapon against depression because if you're depressed - or at least, depressed as i know it - then you can't feel hope. There is no hope, and if you can feel hope for something then you're not depressed. I tear my hear out when i hear people saying something to the effect of "My dog died, i'm depressed!" I want to grab them and shake them and tell them they're SAD about something and oh GOD do i wish it was as simple as feeling sad about something.

Of course, this is only my viewpoint on it and it may be self centred. I can't in all fairness force my own definition on the word depression - it means whatever humans use it to mean, as is the way language works. But i feel like it puts an unfair label onto people feeling utter, raw hopelessness when other people can say that they're depressed because of this particular thing, and how brave they are for carrying on regardless or "beating depression."

If you've ever seen no point in getting out of bed because there is nothing in the world for any price or in any imagined daydream that could make you feel better. Not the power to resurrect a lost one, or the power to make someone fall in love with you, the ability to conjure money, a holodeck with sex capabilities - nothing. If you've ever sat with tears falling from your eyes - not crying though; not breathing differently, not choking your words or furrowing your brow - and you don't know why.... Then i think you have every right to feel contempt for the person who feels sad because of a particular thing that happened to them calling their sadness "depression."

I know what you mean though. I didn't expect to see such good comments about it. It's good to talk!

That's why hope is the most effective weapon against depression. If you can find some hope you can fight against the depression. Depression is at its core, hopelessness.
