Rap Against Rape - "What Did I Do Wrong?"

Leonard Cohen - The Future

EndAll says...

Give me back my broken night
my mirrored room, my secret life
it's lonely here,
there's no one left to torture

Give me absolute control
over every living soul
And lie beside me, baby,
that's an order!

Give me crack and anal sex
Take the only tree that's left
and stuff it up the hole
in your culture

Give me back the Berlin wall
give me Stalin and St Paul
I've seen the future, brother:
it is murder.

Things are going to slide, slide in all directions
Won't be nothing
Nothing you can measure anymore
The blizzard, the blizzard of the world
Has crossed the threshold
And it has overturned
The order of the soul

When they said REPENT, REPENT
I wonder what they meant
When they said REPENT, REPENT
I wonder what they meant
When they said REPENT, REPENT
I wonder what they meant.

You don't know me from the wind
You never will, you never did
I'm the little Jew
Who wrote the Bible

I've seen the nations rise and fall
I've heard their stories, heard them all
But love's the only engine of survival.

Your servant here, he has been told
to say it clear, to say it cold:
It's over, it ain't going any further.

And now the wheels of heaven stop
You feel the devil's riding crop
Get ready for the future:
it is murder.

When they said REPENT, REPENT
I wonder what they meant
When they said REPENT, REPENT
I wonder what they meant
When they said REPENT, REPENT
I wonder what they meant.

There'll be the breaking of the ancient Western code
Your private life will suddenly explode
There'll be phantoms
There'll be fires on the road
And a white man dancing..

You'll see a woman
Hanging upside down
Her features covered by her fallen gown
And all the lousy little poets
Coming round
Tryin' to sound like Charlie Manson
And the white man dancin'.

Give me back the Berlin wall
Give me Stalin and St Paul
Give me Christ
or give me Hiroshima
Destroy another fetus now
We don't like children anyhow
I've seen the future, baby:
it is murder.

Things are going to slide, slide in all directions
Won't be nothing
Nothing you can measure anymore
The blizzard, the blizzard of the world
Has crossed the threshold
And it has overturned
The order of the soul

Sadat X - Hang'em High

MrFisk says...

A lot of niggaz stepped up to the bad man
Chest bucked out with your head wide open
Hopin, to spot, a chip in this frame
I lived and died by the burnin flame
of the OK Corral, Cowboy style
From the Quarters on down to Colorado's
Big niggaz from uptown, ridin into Tahoe's
Saloon settin, kids is walkin round
drinkin whiskey and scotch, strictly out of shotglasses
Lookin screwfaced at the next nigga who passes
There's women in garter belts and ciggarettes
And on the side there's the price game
Niggaz is playin the price game
Indian Red, was bangin niggaz in the head
With his man Apache Joe, they take your money off the floor
They side-bettin for a better, they makin cheddar
That tribal shit is work ya sound the wompom drums
Cause my Indian man'sll break your great dick, UHH
Walk in the New York terrority
On the back of a tree, there's a picture of me
It says I'm lawless, flawless, a hustler plus gun rustler
Wanted in Carolina, for sellin some of New York's finer
Marshal Cooper say he want me, Marshal Cooper gotta get me
Marshal Cooper say beat me, Marshal Cooper better wet me
I gather alla y'all, all of my trusted men
All of my baddest niggaz, niggaz that's quickest with the triggers
There's distrubin news on the wire
That my dome piece is done sent to piece out for hire
I ain't goin down over no money exchange
You late for say I, who reigns as King of the Range?
In this land of wildness
Yo you better pack your vest
In the streets there's nothin but crime
So you best to watch your behind...
Meanwhile saloon settin is back to full swing
Bar's gettin money people doin they thing
There's strictly Boss Players with this kid named Minnesota
As women start to fill up, turn the notch on the grill up
And add mo' stakes to the house banks for gamblers
Half-pipes to scramblers, and free for Wild Cowboys
You never bring decoys if you wanna make real nouse
The bigger the stick, the bigger the fire
I never hit a man in the back, a coward acts like that
Lay out my black hat cause I feel like the bad man
Who on the rise, the D's to Manhattan
Let's walk the thirty paces on the Now Rule races
Oh it's the Marshal Cooper, and I love how he doin this
Women sayin don't get hurt, and I ain't plannin on it
Ten steps taken as I hit the blam factor
His dick to act up, was death the benefactor
Leave him twitchin in the dirt like Cousin Harold from the Menace
I'm in this to win this on the great wide trail
I'm ten times as bad as John Wayne, could ever be
Plus I'm down with the Indian, and need high to get the shit again
I'm responsible for that body in the alley
I'll Louisiana Purchase that ass with with Remi's spurs
and hard shots of Tequila, where the dancin girls
Let's get right as the story unfurls
Piano man keep playin, keep them keys bangin
Single man get three graves there's gonna be a hangin
Now this right here ain't for the youth to see
A grown man assed out swingin from a tree
In this land of wildness
Yo you better pack your vest
In the streets there's nothin but crime
So you best to watch your behind
Joe Tex was the biggest hombre from the projects
Had all the work locked down, so he thought
But he drank and got loose lipped, let a lot of news slip
Stripped of his game and got his self murdered
Thoughts of him are passin like the buffalo
Got his self rocked in the ninety-six brand new Acura
Niggaz said it was lightning BLAOW blew out the back mirror
Hah, youknowhatI'msayin? Dig, check it out
They say that Cowboys never die they just ride off into the sun
A little tale from Sadat X of how the WORLD was won
Check it out, remember this
Gun-slingers, dead-ringers with presidents
Is found tied with no explanation of how they died
Yo the great Sadat X, the High Plains Drifter
No question
In this land of wildness
Yo you better pack a vest
In the streets there's nothin but crime
So you best to watch your behind

Sir Mix-a-Lot - Posse on Broadway

MrFisk says...

Me and Kid Sensation at home away from home
In the black benz limo with tha cellular phone
Im callin up my posse its time to get rippin
Im freakin each sunroof to keep you suckas trippin
Everybody's lookin if ya jealous turn around
The AMG kip keeps us closa to the ground
We're gettin good grip from the 50 series tires

Cuz the 808 kick drum makes the girlies get dumb
We're rollin Rainier and the jealous wanna get some
Every time we do this sucka mc's wanna battle
I'm the man they love to hate the J.R. Ewing of Seattle
Picked up the posse on 23rd and Jackson
Headin for the strip yes were lookin for some action
The limos kinda crowded the whole car was leanin back
Maharaji's watchin tv with two girlies on his lap
On Martin Luther King the set looks kinda dead
We need a new street so posse move ahead
We all look kinda swass the crew you can't forget
The mix a lot posse cold rippin up the set

Ahhhh rollin in my posse was getin kinda bored
There's not anotha posse with more points scored
We don't walk around like criminals or flex like big gorillas
My homeboy Kid Sensation is a teenage lady killa
Maharaji's on the def side dancin like a freak
The girlies see his booty and their knees get weak
Larry is the white guy people think he's funny
A real estate investa who makes a lot a money
Clockin lots a dollars we all got gold
Cruisin in this Benz and ain't got no place to go
Wheelin' 23rd we saw nuthin but thugs
The girlies was to skinny from smokin all them drugs
Cus the rock man got em and there butts just drop
The freaks look depressed because the Benz wont stop
At 23rd and Union the driver broke left
Kevin shouted Broadway it's time to get def
My girl blew me a kiss she said I was the best
She's lookin mighty feaky in black silk dress
The closa that we get the crazier I feel
My posse's on Broadway it's time to get ill

Crusin Broadway and my wheels spin slow
Rollin with your posse is the only way to go
The girlies by the college was lookin for a ride
We tried to pick em up but we had no room inside
We put em on the trunk we put em on the hood
Some sat up with the driver they made him feel good
The posse's gettin bigger there's much to many freaks
My muffler is draggin my suspensions gettin weak
Now the freaks are gettin hungry in Mix A Lot's treatin'
We stopped at Taco Bell for some Mexican eatin'
But Taco Bell was closed the girls was on my tip
They said go back the other way we'll stop and eat at Dick's
Dick's is the place were the cool hang out
The swass like to play and the rich flaunt clout
Posse to he burger stand so big we walk in twos
Were gettin dirty looks from those other sucka crews
Kid Sensation dropped a 20 and didn't even miss it
this skeezer from another crew she picked it up and kissed it
Her boyfriend's illin he went to slap her face
My homeboy PLD cold sprayed the boy with mace
Cus I never liked a punk who beat up on his girl
If you don't have game then let her leave your world
We took the girl with us
With him she rode the bus
She gave the boy the finger and the sukca starts to cuss
Boy I got a def posse you got a bunch a dudes
Your broke cold crying about the rock man blues
Ya beat up on your girl and now your all upset
She's with the Mix A Lot posse on the Broadway set

Everything Old Is New Again (1979) All That Jazz

swampgirl says...

EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN
When trumpets were mellow
And every gal only had one fellow
No need to remember when
Cause everything old is new again

Dancin' at ya
Long Island Jazz Age parties
Waiter, let me have some more Bacardis
Let's order now what they ordered then
Cause everything old is new again

Get out your white suit,
your tap shoes and tails
Let's go backwards when forward fails
And movie stars that you thought were long dead,
Now are framed beside your bed

Don't throw the past away
You might need it some rainy day
Dreams can come true again
When everything old is new again

Get out your white suit,
your tap shoes and tails
Let's go backwards when all else fails
Leave Greta Garbo alone
Be a movie star on your own

And don't throw
Don't throw the past away
We're all gonna need it some rainy day
Dreams can come true again
When everything old is new again

I might fall in love with you again

Jukebox Saturday Night Soundie-1944 Glen Miller Modernaires

swampgirl says...

Moppin up sodapop rickeys
To our hearts delight
Dancin to swingeroo quickies
Jukebox Saturday night

Goodman and Kyser and Miller
Help to make things bright
Mixin hot licks with vanilla
Jukebox Saturday night

They put nothin past us
Me and honey lamb
Making one Coke last us
Till its time to scram

Money we really dont need bad,
We make out alright
Lettin the other guy feed that
Jukebox saturday night

After sippin a soda we got a scheme
Somebody else plays the record machine
Its so easy to say pet names
When you listen to the
trumpet of Harry James...

(-Instrumental interlude ala Harry James-)

We love to hear that tenor croon
Whenever the Ink Spots sing a tune...

("The Ink Spots"):
If I didnt know why the roses grow
Then I wouldnt know why the roses grow...
(Spoken) Now listen, honey child,
If I didnt know all them
little things Im supposed
to know
Then I sure would be a SAD man
If I didnt know...

Money we really dont need it,
We make out alright
Lettin the other guy feed that
Jukebox Saturday night!

Lime - Unexpected lovers (1985)

Eklek says...

The production values of this track are quite bad..

Lyrics:

"Unexpected lovers"

How can there be no love
No feeling of passion too
The way we were dancin' love
How could it be I'm through

We dance the night together
Until the morning light
Baby do you remember
The music in our eyes?

Such an enchanting evening
A lovers romantic night
The moon and stars are leavin'
The sea was glowing bright

We spend the night together
Until the morning light
Baby do you remember
The music in our eyes?

We were unexpected lovers
Not just ordinary lovers
Sharing unexpected love
My true love
(2x)

We love like no other lovers
like no other lovers do
The way we kissed each other
And help each other too

We spend the night together
Until the morning light
Baby do you remember
The music in our eyes?

(video is cut off here..)

When will we ever love again
And share another night
Should we ever meet again
To love each other right

We spend the night together
Until the morning light
Baby do you remember
The music in our eyes?

We were unexpected lovers
Not just ordinary lovers
Sharing unexpected love
My true love
(2x)

Buddy Holly - The Day The Music Died- American Pie

eric3579 says...

Verse 1
A long long time ago
I can still remember how that music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while
But February made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step
I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died

So, bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my chevy to the levee
But the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin' this'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die

Verse 2
Did you write the Book of Love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so
Do you believe in rock n' roll
Can music save your mortal soul
And can you teach me how to dance real slow
Well, I know that you're in love with him
'Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Man, I dig those rhythm & blues
I was a lonely, teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died
I started singin'

Verse 3
Now for ten years we've been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rollin' stone
But that's not how it used to be
When the Jester sang for the King and Queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
In a voice that came from you and me
Oh, and while the King was looking down
The Jester stole his thorny crown
The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returned
And while Lenin read a book on Marx
The quartet practiced in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died
We were singin'

Verse 4
Helter Skelter in a summer swelter
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
It landed foul on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the Jester on the sidelines in a cast
Now the half-time air was sweet perfume
While the Sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh but we never got the chance
'Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died
We started singing

Verse 5
Oh, and there we were, all in one place
A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again
So come on, Jack, be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candlestick
'Cause fire is the devils only friend
Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan's spell
And as flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died
He was singing

Verse 6
I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before
But the man there said the music wouldn't play

And in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most
The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died
And they were singin'

Bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my chevy to the levy
But the levy was dry
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singing this'll be the day that I die

They were singin'
Bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my chevy to the levy
But the levy was dry
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singing this'll be the day that I die

It is from a parade that occurred on Friday, February 1, 2008. It took place Uptown in New Orleans. I saw it on St. Charles Avenue. The floats used Greek myth themes. I don't remember the one for that float. I'll be adding five more parades. I'm spreading them out a bit.

The only video I took was of the "Dancin' Dawgfighters" and a giant tow truck that the city is proud of:
