John Pilger's 2007 film "The War On Democracy"

Engels says...

Its a bit hard to take this very seriously with the emotional music and a very one-sided view of things. Not a mention of the Cuban regime's murder of its own people, for instance.

It ends up feeling like the very propaganda its protesting against.

With all due respect, hijackings are not the primary threat as the means to accomplish such deeds have been handily remedied by fairly simply and minimally intrusive procedures and technology.

Things that go boom....

You all know who we REALLY need to profile: primarily swarthy Middle Eastern men ages 18 - 40 and behind them Middle Eastern women wearing any kind of "cloak". Unfortunately, the acolytes of political correctness don't give a sh!t if their cowardice is lethal.

I challenge that as an assumption, one that is generally held by most people (even liberals). So I actually decided to do some research; imagine that!
Before I started I'd say my opinion was that I was sceptical about any useful correlation between terrorism and race or citizenship but if any strong correlation could be found then it may be possible to convince me that it becomes a question of weighing the security benefits against the offence caused to individuals.
It's also my opinion (and still is) that the mainstream media continues to portray correlation between terrorism in the US and UK and Islamists through consistent inference, without ever stating it as fact; and therefore not requiring validation or providing opportunity to be directly contested.
I looked at the list of notable aircraft hijackings on wikipedia and followed them up via the references and/or additional searching. My conclusion is that if any profiling is used in America then it would be most useful to target middle aged white American men; and any Americans citizens with flying experience.
Here are names of people who did board a plane at a US airport and then subsequently hijacked the aircraft:
John J Divivo
D. B. Cooper (pseudonym)
Billy Gene Hurst Jr
Garret Trapnell
Melvin C. Cale, Louis Cale, Henry D. Jackson, Jr.
Clay Thomas
Aubern Calloway
There was a spate of hijackings by both Americans and Cubans in the 60's and 70's; mostly for political reasons that was mostly quelled by a Cuban-American agreement; and there was a notable incident of a hijacking by Croatian separatists in '76. Other than that, hijackings were overwhelmingly committed by white and black Americans.
Doing a more general search I couldn't actually find any hijacking of aircraft by middle eastern or Muslim passengers who boarded a plane at a US airport, apart from 9/11.
The most recent hijacking prior to 9/11 was Aubern Calloway; a black American and former pilot for FedEx who had a personal beef with his employees.
I also continued reading about non air related terrorism in the US and UK and found that the vast majority of incidents are domestic and carried out by non Muslim, non middle eastern men. I also noticed that whenever the individual perpetrators of an incident are unknown, then it will generally be attributed to an Islamic organisation; but when the perpetrators are found they are almost always non Muslim. This remains true in recent times, as well as in past history.
You can make a pretty decent start with this list of terrorist incidents; however it must be pointed out that it's generally difficult to define what is and what is not an act of terrorism; and as the issue is about security then I think what we're really interested in is any destructive and harmful incident.
To be honest I was quite surprised by the extent to which there is a lack of correlation; as well as the extreme rarity of terrorist incidents when compared to the media representation that we get of them.
If you ever find yourself wondering if anyone around you is a terrorist then the only people you can really discount are women and children. I'd therefore offer that it would be much more useful and give you a much happier day if you just stopped wondering altogether.
Hey, maybe D. B. Cooper was secretly a Muslim.

White House White Board: Tax Cuts

Lawdeedaw says...

>> ^quantumushroom:

Number One:
Our government is in debt. How do you cure debt?
Cut spending? Sure. Tho less spending doesn't remove debt you've already accumulated.
To pay off 14 trillion in Debt. You need 14 trillion in Income
Taxes = Income.

Taxes are not "income", as governments which didn't earn the $$$ use force to collect. Government is not a performance-based enterprise, it's a necessary evil.
Reducing government from a tick bigger than the dog it feasts upon to a reasonable size is part of the equation. The other part is LOWERING taxes for all, which paradoxically creates more revenue.
The obamateur's corrupt excuse of an administration--even with majority voting power--has failed.
Number Two:
No one who MAKES 1 million dollars a year EARNS 1 million dollars a year.
Earning implies you did work.
No single person can physically work to create one million dollars in equivalent value per year. Physically impossible.

Income is an indicator of how much others will pay for an individual's performance. While I think it's total nonsense that people worship some asshole that can slam dunk a ball through a metal ring, others highly value this skill, so much so they make these ring-dunkers multi-millionaires. And the team owners that pay these 'outrageous' salaries reap financial rewards that make those salaries a bargain.
The average American only EARNS about 2.4 mill in LIFETIME earnings.
Which means, anyone who MAKES a Million+ a year STOLE the money EARNED by the VALUE of other people's hard WORK in order to write themselves such fat paychecks.

Sounds like socialist claptrap. This "rigged game theory" is what justifies the redistribution of wealth (at gunpoint) that the obamas of the world believe in. If there is any 'stealing' going on, it's being done by the looters who hand out wealth to people who had absolutely no role in creating it.
The left in America apparently learned nothing from North Korean, Cuban and Soviet experiments about the failure that is communism, and nothing about rampant socialism from the collapse of Greece.
November 2nd. Change is coming.

And the right that borrows money to aviod tax-cuts, or avoids cutting defense when it is needed? And before it is said, ALL of the right is debt-lovers but deniers... 1/1000 at least. "Cut this program, cut that program, but NEVER, ever My programs..."

Go to youtube and type in "Cuban health care."
They can't ALL be fakes by Fox.
Do you want a crash course on why American health care is flawed? The consumer doesn't pay directly, so there's no way for capitalism to work. There is no competition and thus no way for prices to come down.
If you want more "solid" jobs, stop electing taxocrats en masse.
And Savage is 100% correct. No artist could make up the daily insanity of the left, not even Dali.
"nonononono" and spreading lies/fear/idiocy as far as possible?
Give us facts, not quotes from Michael Savage.

I said facts not youtube clips. You can do the exact same thing to "prove" how bad healthcare is in any country. As for paying directly, its impossible for the average person to pay medical bills in this country, or indeed any country. This is why insurance companies exist, they take the "gamble" that the money they collect from everyone who doesn't file will exceed the amount they have to pay out. The people who do file often do so for things that are WAY outside of what they can reasonably afford. This isn't like selling cars here where you can go buy used to save money. These are unexpected bills because suddenly your sick, dying or otherwise.

I will grant you that the FAR left (the genuine far left not *everyone* on the left as your radio nutjobs would have us all believe) do have some really insane ideas. No more insane than some of the far right wingnutery that goes on. Suing McDonald's because your kids are fat? That's far left insanity in my book. As for electing "taxocrats" here are some more facts for ya. How about that. The taxocrats genuinely provide more growth for everyone, where as far as the Rights are concerned if you don't make obscene amounts of money, you might as well not even exist except to vote them back into office.

So I suppose YOU have visited every health facility in Cuba? You can personally vouch for your statements about the quality of care there? Do you have anything beyond the lines fed to you by Faux and the Right Radio Retards?
Does America have the possibility for better care? Yes. How many have the ability to take advantage of it? Not nearly as many. That's the discrepancy comes up. Unless your very wealthy or have a solid job your odds of receiving quality health care are slim to none. Is the Right going to do anything beyond spend the next several years balled up in a corner covering its ears shouting "nonononono" and spreading lies/fear/idiocy as far as possible?

Countdown to Zero

Yogi says...

I remember reading a few articles a couple years ago about how in the past decade we've been minutes from annihilation. The reason is because Russia has a lot of missiles on ready alert but the computers are out of date and they have been reacting and almost firing missiles and our missile systems detect this and get antsy as well. Imagine destroying all of human civilization because of a computer error.

Also I hope they go into the Cuban Missile Crisis story, when we were literally one word away from total nuclear wasteland. We'd basically have no northern hemisphere after that. The story is roughly a Russian nuclear submarine was off Cuba and having depth chargers dropped on it from above. The captain said fire the missiles because it's probably already WW3 up there. Another person the Officer of the whatever stopped him and calmed him down from making this mistake. This one man is responsible for probably billions of peoples lives, he should've received dozens of Peace Medals or Peace hookers or something.

Also Russia is now investing more heavily in it's nuclear program which is states unequivocally is a response to the United States and it's militarism. Also a direct response to the missile defense shield placed in Europe which Russia correctly sees as a first strike weapon.

True dat, we do share the same frightening demographics...You guys have another dynamic going for you as well, the concentration of crusty,due-by-date, east-coast oldsters-and the shell-shock of impending doom being on the front lines of storms what with yer ass-end hanging out there waiting for the next pummeling...each year of multiple hits sends more exhausted Floridians our way!

You know me, I love to bust balls and stir up the rabble....I am not so Texas proud anymore-Quite frankly, I'd rather have Cubans here than half of Mexico with the other half hot on their heals-However-I would love to get the Mexicans on the same page with people who are tired of the corporate restructuring of the planet-They are only here doing what they know out of desperation and by insidious design.:(

I demand this video make sense!

He feigns that he's not very book smart.. like in the Phantom Menace review he starts making references to the Cuban missile crisis and ends up saying, "Oh I don't know.. maybe you've heard of it... a little something called WORLD WAR 1?!!" (which had me rolling out of my seat almost).

The instant freeze gag caused me to double take too, then I remembered he was in character. This guy's awesome.
