Snooker - Ronnie O'Sullivan final frame in Welsh Open Final

dannym3141 says...

Pot/potting, not put/putting. That's golf

Also, @BicycleRepairMan don't forget that he plays both left and right handed shots, finishes with a left handed black to increase the difficulty for himself. Practically no one does this, and certainly not at his level. It's widely accepted that O'Sullivan is the best player the game has ever seen, and he'd still be one of the best solely with his left hand.

@A10anis - pub closures are nothing to do with that. Kids aren't even allowed in pubs, so i don't know what on earth you're basing that on. The economic crisis and subsequent austerity issues are the cause of pub closures; that's why it's been in the news recently that the government needs to do more to help pubs out because they're closing at a rapid rate. I can't honestly believe you're suggesting that banning indoor smoking is causing pub closures. Or snooker hall closures, but i'm afraid i don't have any current knowledge to counter that argument as i do with pubs.

Woman Stays Deadly Calm During Crash.

chingalera says...

I found out through two incidents in as many days (back-to-back) which happened while working on a contract job on a state highway outside of Newton, Kansas back in the summer of 2002 of an imprinted and innate capacity to "switch-on" in the most dire of circumstances while others on the crew either went into pre-shock or became completely functionless.

Two accidents. two days inna row during our road closures on a dangerous highway fulla truckers trying to beat tolls on the interstate and take the short cut:...both days, 18-wheelers in cruise control blew thorough the closures and caused major fatalities. I was one of 4 people on the crew to switch into rescue and control-mode, when the rest of the world nutted-up. Had state police thinking I was EMS already on the scene...(in my flagman uniform)....Did not know I had it in me, it simply happened. Exhausted me but I had no post-traumatic inabilities the next days, went back to work after the first accident when a couple of guys burned to death with no jaws of life there to save them...did all i could for the victims and my fellow crewmen after.

Next day, assumed flagman position (after having worked on on the main crew having handed my fagging position over to a greenhorn) and another accident, fully-loaded gravel truck was struck by a another 18-wheeler hauling two butane trucks...commanded the scene and kept a woman form going into shock by taking control...5 fatalities when the truck simply compacted two car-fulls of peeps into the back of a fully-loaded gravel truck in the front of the flag line.

I was one of the only people there with my wits about me-Guess I was there for a reason.

I have been in a lot of accidents i simply walked-away from-God works in mysterious ways with the damnedest of sorts.

You want a guy like me around for any potential shit-storm maybe??

Half-Life: Counting to 3 (episode 2's ending spoilers).

Amen, brother. Honestly, if Valve isn't bothered making another game and the squillions of dollars it would generate, that's cool, but at least release a book or a movie or some goddamned thing to give the story closure!

Tremendous acting, I really believed she just watched her father die a terrible death.

Half-Life is my favorite series of games, even surpassed Metal Gear Solid in the past few years based on Portal and it's addition to the universe. Valve is amazing, please Valve do more amazing things and make Half-Life 3 PLEASE, you're honestly killing me here.

She is repeatedly calling for help.
Worst part, his friend is dead in the back seat...
Not the closure I wanted -- sad.

Storm Diaries - How is everybody doing? (Nature Talk Post)

zombieater says...

We're (blahpook + me) about 4 hours inland in North Carolina and we were spared from the large majority of the storm. It's a bit windy now and was all throughout the day today, but with only a few sprinkles of rain, it seems that we got away mostly clean. It must've just skimmed North, because I've heard that SE Virginia is flooded with school closures through Wednesday.

For the reasons that I agree with you and believe you are correct, I have achieved a Masters degree in transpersonal psychology and a doctorate in clinical psychology in the hopes of working clinically with these powerful psychoactive sacraments.

For the time being, I serve as the Executive Director for the Association for Transpersonal Psychology and am in collaboration with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, both of which are worth supporting and participating, if only for the cognitive liberties both organizations represent!

Very interesting take. Amphetamines are a ticking time bomb for your heart that is true. you can use them for years without noticing anything wrong and you may just drop dead at any time. Every time you take them you are cutting your life expectancy. They do have some therapeutic use but the fact is that pulse and blood pressure shoot so high that it's dangerous.
LSD and MDMA are much better for therapeutic uses, i've experimented with both, first recreationally but after realizing their potential have found them to be good tools. With LSD you can decrease depression for long periods of time, we are talking about months. MDMA is good for traumatizations, it enables the person to talk about his/her issues in a non-judgemental way, it kind of detaches the emotions from that trauma and gives closure. Both should be studied really carefully, i truly believe that hallucinogens are the answer to a lot of problems created by the modern high paced world and the lack of spirituality.

Outrageous Example Of Corporate Greed From Caterpillar - TYT

Porksandwich says...

They are building a new plant near me. And honestly I think the people wanting to get hired there would probably take a six year pay freeze as part of their employment agreement. It's them using the out of work people in the area from GM closure and other closures to put the squeeze on their current employees, and their employees if they've been unemployed at all HAVE to know that they could be replaced.

My hope is that in 5 and 10 years time, people remember what was done by Caterpillar and choose to not buy their products and work for competitors when the same wage is offered. If people actually remembered and took historical decisions (not in the past year, but 5 or 10 years and more) in their context of the time and use that in their decision making....I just don't see how a company could withstand doing that kind of shit for long.

Unfortunately, people have very short memories and what happened last week, last hour, last minute, last second mentality in all things involving money now. Corporations have fostered that, but people have bowed to it.

I really doubt they get 6 years agreement, but I bet they get at least 3 years on a wage freeze. I also bet their products go up in price more than if the wages had not been frozen, and they end up blaming the workers/unions for those price increases. Insurance will be my first guess on what they blame specifically for costs. And they will secretly question all of those worker comp claims, because those frozen wages probably lead to a lot of disgruntled employees that they now have to monitor more closely and hire extra managers to watch.

WWII Widow Finally Learns What Happened to Her Husband

MilkmanDan says...

Ok, in all likelihood the Congressman never actually checked. BUT, considering that she got multiple conflicting reports back closer to the time it actually happened, I'd say that it is certainly possible that he (or a staffer) looked into it and got a different answer from some different resource.

My mother is very big into Genealogy. Sometimes in her research she finds conflicting information -- just something one has to deal with. I am glad this widow has the satisfaction of closure and someplace specific to send her flowers, and I think she has the right attitude about not being upset or holding a grudge against the Congressman. If anyone failed her, it was the Army back when her husband actually died.

It's hard to find words on how sad but somehow happy this video makes me. Closure after so long can be relieving. That Congressman should be ashamed of himself. He better hope 4chan doesn't watch CBS News...

Big Think (Michio Kaku) - Will Mankind Destroy Itself?

ghark says...

I completely disagree with his definition of what terrorists are. Look at what Israel are doing to the Palestinians:

They've built enormous fences around hundreds of thousands of them, often separating them or isolating the people there from other villages. Arrests, delays and degradation at these checkpoints is commonplace, and this is often just so they can go to work, or visit friends. During special events such as Jewish holidays, the West Bank can be under military closure for more than a week.
http://mideastposts.com/2011/05/02/humiliation-and-degradation-easter-at-qalandiya/

The Israeli's then illegally settle or continue to expand on what is often privately owned Palestinian land.
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/21/world/middleeast/21land.html?hp&ex=1164171600&en=2e03da87b76e6581&ei=5094&partner=homepage

Then they burn their olive trees, desecrate their mosque's, beat their children and kill adult civilians.
http://www.presstv.ir/detail/204101.html

What can the Palestinians do to fight back? Well pretty much nothing due to the fact Israel receives billions of dollars in military supplies and funding each year from the US Government. The UN criticizes Israel's actions and International law states that expansion of many of the settlements is illegal, however the Palestinians are literally powerless.

Many Palestinians over the years, including women, have decided to blow themselves up in public, often killing many people, children included - these people therefore are labelled terrorists. So I have to ask, which of the actions I've described that the Israeli's/US are involved in against the Palestinians would be considered as moving them more towards a type 1 civilization?

Walmart Manager Denies Xmas Eve Shoppers

Darkhand says...

>> ^BoneRemake:

@Stu
I have never seen or heard of this idiotic practice before, I do not live under a rock. What I have experienced is a different posted note on the front of the store that states the different closing hours due to holiday or fire drill or what not.
This assumed alignment to un-posted opening hours is in poor practice. If you are going to change your regular hours, post a fucking note a couple days before, I would be and will continue to be pissed off if some dick smack closes earlier then posted times, because they are being dick smacks.
It is laughable how some of you people are putting this on the shoppers for going last minute.

^^

My home depot closed early for a "Christmas Party" when I rented a floor sander. I couldn't get all the pads I needed to finish sanding my floor and had to re-sand the floor again. But they posted ample notices announcing their early closure for their holiday party so I had no one to hold responsible but myself.
