A Clockwork Orange was better, I think. The Godfather movie is superior to the book. Lord of Rings by far. Let's see, Lolita, by Kubrick.

Like the song. Love the Movie. Did I mention that the book is awesomely phenomenal? Also, Ken Kesey is just the shit in general. IMHO this is the best book to movie adaptation ever. If someone else has a better alternative, I am open to examine.

Glenn Beck hating on GTA...

Kids have been trained to kill by playing games for ages. Anyone remember playing war, cops and robbers, cowboys and indians or a variation of them?
It's a natural instinct, as long as the persons aren't turning it into real violence it wouldn't do much good to deter it. Actually, the persons who do go out and hurt others after having played cops and robbers, or some computer game for that matter, can't really be right in the head. Blaming the games they played for the violence is just a divertion from the real issue I think.
I'm sure Glenn Beck would be just as eager to blame Alex's violence on milk after having watched "A Clockwork Orange"...

Remembering Stanley Kubrick .... Steven Spielberg

They DID work together on AI BTW. Though Spielberg made the movie, he did so in memory of and in the style of Kubrick. Good movie.
I hated Clockwork Orange, but it was a profound film.
P.S. Hurray Dr. Strangelove!

Well, I'm certainly not going to deny that the opening shot from Touch of Evil is as important as it is awesome. And I wouldn't hold it against anyone who says they prefer it to ACO's opening... But still, that first shot of ACO gives me chills every time.

Greatest Ever opening scene? I'm not saying it isn't but I will counter with this... http://www.videosift.com/search?q=a+touch+of+evil

In reply to this comment by Sarzy:
I should note that I've been wanting to submit this scene pretty much since I joined, but this is the first time I've been able to find it. It'll probably be dead soon, so get it while it's hot!

Movie Review: No Country For Old Men (Blog Entry by smibbo)

I think the number 1 movie that was technically good but depressed me- would have to be "7" with Brad Pitt. Hate that movie.

I guess you've never watched A Clockwork Orange or 1984 or Dr. Strangelove.

Se7en? bleeeach. Good acting? oh my lord. Spacey did some good stuff, but the direction and editing in that movie destroyed any other potentially good performances beyond recognition.

On the other hand, one of my closest friends, a serious movie buff, considers it one of the greatest movies ever. I don't get it. Just strikes me as self-indulgent bloodletting.

I've always wondered about the self link rule.

I don't find this music or video particularly entertaining, but if 10 other sifters do, what's the problem?

I can certainly understand keeping advertisers out and stupid amateurish youtube vids, but if a band wants to play us a song and subject itself to the scrutiny of the sift, what's the big deal?

Furthermore, what if say 'dystopianfuturetoday' wanted to upload the Clockwork Orange threesome scene or the Blue Velvet 'Wanna go for a ride' scene - because they are nowhere to be found online - and attempt to sift them? What would be the harm in that?

Also, the self-link policy is easy to defeat. All this guy had to do was have a friend submit the video, and it would not have been an issue.

Sorry Dag, I'm you've heard these arguments ad nuaseum.
