RadioShack's New Commercial

MilkmanDan says...

I think the last time I went in a Radio Shack was sometime around 2003ish. I remember it distinctly because I wanted to buy plain old AA batteries, and it was the closest store. I hadn't been to one of their stores in a while and was surprised when they asked me for name, address, and phone number. To buy batteries. With cash.

So, I said my name was Jasper P. Whillacker the Third, with a 555 phone number, and living at 123 Fake Street. The clerk evidently got a lot of that. Just asked me if I wanted to reconsider and give my real name/info, I said no, so he used some fallback customer ID and let me check out. Went back a few more times over the next 2-3 years (it was close to my house at the time), and the same dude always remembered not to ask about name/info ... so I guess that is something.

Anti-Michael Brown Song By Retired Fed. Investigator

Lawdeedaw says...

Don't confuse the Unions that attack the Mayor with actual people. The Unions are dicks that are a business just like Sharpton (Making them millions) and Wal-Mart. Of course they spout of shit like Donald Trump or Obama on any given day.

Down here many cops state that Brown was a thug who threw around a store clerk in a potentially deadly robbery. There is a reason criminals can be charged for murder if an officer dies on his way to a crime like that. Or if someone gets shot by a store clerk on accident. The inherent nature of violence that Brown brought to the store alone was potentially deadly.

This video is the same as the censored Kim Jung Un video, or half the Epic Rap Battles. I remember my wife crying when they mentioned Merlin Monroe having miscarriages because she had four. But never once did she bemoan the Battles.

And yes, it annoyed me that you made mention that this video was NOT racist but the above sifter not-to-be-named ignored that...shows how much he listens.

newtboy said:

Dude...can you read? Please try again. I did not say it was racist. I said things do not have to be racist to be disgusting. Just wow. Talk about low reading comprehension.

If you only believe the cop testimony, perhaps. Since the DA threw the grand jury case, we'll never know, because it will never see a court room. That's not the series of events reports say the other 38 witnesses testified to seeing.

Songs laughing about killing unarmed people, and comparing them to road kill is only entertainment for disgusting people. Odd that all the cops found it entertaining...or perhaps it's not.
They should be upset because making fun of killing other people is disgusting, especially in the current climate where cops are trying to look human and humane, this shows their true colors when they think no one is watching, they laugh at killing unarmed people and take pleasure in it while dehumanizing the dead victims and their families. That's why any thinking person with a conscience would be upset. Duh.

I brought up the NY mayor because you brought up the NYPD cops. The way the cops are treating the mayor, who is not anti cop, but is simply not 100% behind every cop action, is infantile and disgusting. It shows how they can't accept any criticism without completely over-reacting in the worst ways, like big babies with guns. EDIT: NYPD also illustrates how the cops react if someone says something about police that shoot and beat to death unarmed men of color far more often than 'whites'. Imagine how they would react if this WERE a song making fun of the two slain officers.

Oh Bob. You might want to back off on the attempted insults and stick to the topic. (It just so happens that I'm fixed, not neutered, learn the difference, Neutered males do not 'grow a pair' back, fixed males still have their testicles.) Your attempt at insult failed miserably on all fronts, but I'll still give you 'credit' for trying to be smarmy and clever.
It seems you're going the way of Chingalera here...and we all know what happened when he put the Newt in his mouthy parts. (it's the same thing that happens to anything that tries to bite a Newt, we just come crawling back out of your dead mouth unharmed!) He thought he was a big man too, with his smarmy insulting nastiness...didn't work out too well for him.

Considering how you see 'reality', I sure hope I look to be on the wrong side to you. I would hate to think I'm somehow in step with you or @Trancecoach. Many thinking people here do not have the highest opinions of your ilk.

EDIT: If Bill Burr told this story, he would not have talked about Michael Brown in those disgusting, degrading, dehumanizing ways. Bill is not an asshole. He might have found a way to make it funny, but not degrading or dehumanizing. This guy is no Bill Burr.

i know man and got respect for your position.
have many friends who feel exactly the way you do.
so im not hating.

i have sacrificed much to hold fast to my conviction.
i deal mostly in cash or barter.
i do not and will never have a credit card, nor a bank account.
i drive "illegally" ,though it is rare, because i refuse to subscribe to mandatory insurance.or any form of insurance for that matter, mandatory or not.
i treat opiate addicts for free and give them a place to stay because the clinics (state run and corporate) have a zero tolerance policy.they pee dirty ONCE,for anything and they get booted.so i take them in.

this one,in particular, gets me into some serious trouble with the authorities at the local addiction a.k.a methadone pill-mill.they turn me in at least once a year.the baliffs at the courthouse know me by name.

i get in trouble at tax time because i dont file.my business is not income driven but rather "donation" driven.so...suck it county clerk!

i do work at a friends restaurant as a bartender/waiter and thats on the books, but thats mostly for my child support.

all this has been hard on my family, well,my boys mainly.while they were growing up i didnt have a lot of extra resources, but they turned out pretty damn good.

simply put(me?simple?ha!)
my faith dictates my politics.

Deadbeat Non-Father, forced to pay $30K in Child Support

scheherazade says...

The process government workers follow is designed in government by government workers.

Legal fashion = in court... where a judge decides.
This could have been decided already by someone he's already seen, but some person decided not to.

Either because they personally decided they still had a chance to make the fees stick, or because they have a process (that they or another person designed) that decided for them that they should try to make the fees stick.

But since you mention a clerk, that's a great idea. A good process /would/ have an 'out', where the man could go to a clerk and file a form for dismissal of the fees, and this would all be over.
Where simple rules allow simple results.
Is there a court verdict demonstrating that you were in no way whatsoever involved in the matter? If so, fees removed.
But that would mean that things take less time, and less busy work.

newtboy said:

Wait...hadn't you been saying it was the workers making their own busy work that forced people like this guy into court? Now it's the process intentionally designed that way?
The prosecutor DID drop the charges, as did the judge when they were before him. What NEITHER can do is erase the debt, which must be done in a legal fashion, not just by a clerk that hits 'erase' on his own whim because they THINK it's right. Can you imagine the problems if they COULD just do that? You didn't think it through. The process is not perfect, but it's far better than letting individuals decide these things on their own.

That's absolutely true, however it's precisely why it is realistic.

They've created a massive rigid process that allows them to stay busy for eternity without getting much work done.

It's that massive rigid process that empowers them to put the man in the OP through hoops that drain his time and money, and threaten him with fines/incarceration (for not participating or for failing to pay fines) - even though the evidence is out plain as day that the guy was never involved in any of the matters at hand.

You could call what they are doing "work" and "duties". You could also call it a waste of time and money, and predatory. If you consider it work, that's fine. If you consider it a waste, then what they are doing is 'just forcing it here'.

In the end, process is made by people. People choose to maintain the status quo.
Prosecutors/judge *could* just drop the charges/case/fines/whatever - but they won't. Bbecause a chance to win an argument on some technicality is more important than the man in the OP's life - and the process requires this mess to play out.

Robbery Fail

modulous says...

I doubt a Swedish Pressbyan (it looks like the one in Central Station) has protective glass shielding the clerk, and the brief snatches of her behind seem to confirm this. It's not a locking door trap - which is why the guys are needed to keep it closed. It's almost unheard of to have that kind of protection in anything other than petrol stations, bookeeper's (betting shop) or off-licences (liquor stores). The most likely explanations include, in his urgency to get out, he didn't consider it. Or he just wanted money, and didn't actually want to commit violence. Or he knew that taking a hostage would result in a much more serious criminal penalty. Given its a train station, there is almost certainly police nearby and the incident is probably being observed on CCTV by at least transport security - so he didn't have a lot of time to get control of a hostage, convince the people blocking the door he would hurt her if they didn't open the door and then to make a getaway.

If Walmart Paid Its Employees a Living Wage

Mashiki says...

Crap video full of crap. And I've worked in the US myself, and lived most of my life in Canada(being Canadian).

Even up here in Canada, Walmart pays more than the min. wage. Hell it pays more than the average local store, or even larger stores, chain stores, or other bigbox retail stores for PT/FT in terms of wages.

Example in Ontario: Walmart starting wage: 13.25/hr(current min wage 10.25/hr), FT/PT, not counting benefits.
Gas station attendant: 10.55-12.08/hr
Large bigbox store sale clerk: 10.85/hr
L-BB Manager: 13.85-15.80/hr
Mom&pop specialized clerk: 10.85-12.10/hr
Fast food: 10.25-12.10/hr
Non-unionized janitors: 10.25-13/hr
Managers fast food: 13-15/hr
Regional Managers Fast food: 14.25-25.30/hr
Managers Walmart: 16.25-25/hr
Regional managers Walmart 18.80-27.80/hr

And...on top if that here, if you need a hand go to the damned food bank. And stop blowing your money on the latest gadets.

"little...thing," going to leave another of these unanswered? Or perhaps you were just going to promote this again,...or shall I for you?

...or are you going to slink to a weeks old closed one and leave some feeble bleet in the dark...again?

...or pick another to take a cheap shot. For someone who doesn't like banning you did enough...even without justification but your felon's excuse for blatant discrimination against attorneys. Was some DA mean to you? Awwwww.

You had to keep poking. Seeking me out as another foil for your own self loathing. Someone else with whom to feign some pitiful involvement in another of a long tenured list of vain attempts to feel some self worth at the expense of someone else and deriving what empty little you could eke because few to none others would stoop or squat to your level.

So now, pitiful "little...thing",...put up or shut up and I will do the same. Except, in my case, I have everything I need to back up my assertions, felon, bitter grapes banner, etc. And where did I get it all? I got it from you,...your dribbling trail of filth you leave behind you here and everywhere else.

...that enough attention for you? Or are you feeling hollow now?

QI - Stephen Fry And How He Offended Some Mormons

entr0py says...

Salt Lake City has an odd dichotomy. On the one hand it's the heart of the Mormon church. And if you do go to the temple and meet one of their leaders, he will be an old white man who takes himself way too seriously.

But on the other hand it's also the most liberal and democratic leaning part of Utah. One recent example. Last Friday when the federal court judgement came which struck down Utah's same-sex marriage ban. Clerks stayed late at the County Clerk's office and ministers flocked to volunteer to marry the hundreds of gay couples who showed up immediately after the news. I know a very devoted lesbian couple who were married by the mayor of Salt Lake City that night.
