That was *quality! Quick anecdote. When I was in school, the cinematography class (I wasn't in this group) took a trip to Wilmington, NC where they were filming some of Muppets From Space. Apparently the culture on the set was very bizarre, and all of the Muppeteers stayed in character and talked through their Muppets even when off camera or asking the Director a question. Very cool.

New technique to make shaky cam videos stable

MaxWilder says...

No, there's a difference between real cinematography and "look at this cool camera work! Don't you feel immersed?" Zoomy-cam is just the logical extension of shaky-cam, where the director thinks jostling the picture is the same thing as providing excitement for the viewer. Maybe it fools you, but to me all it does is throw me out of the story.

There is no fucking reason for shaky "hand held" shots unless we are supposed to be watching footage from a camera that is part of the story, such as documentary footage. If there is no camera in the story, then the viewer should not be "aware" of the camera. The footage should be clean and semi-omniscient, like the narrative voice in a book. Novels are not presented in broken cursive with bad spelling, and movies should not be presented in unstable hand held shots.

If you need a lot of flexibility in an action shot, get a steadycam. It provides a sense of immediacy and proximity, and doesn't aggravate. Use it!

Beautiful cinematography spoiled by more of the same socialist propaganda.
The arrogance of humanity was once unchecked pollution. Now it's the arrogance that with a few smokestacks humans control the weather.

What propaganda is there for socialism in this video?

Perhaps you've seen socialist propaganda (i barely understand this term as you use it) in the past and it looks a little like this, so your own mind draws relations? Doesn't that mean the propaganda worked? Heh..

The film puts forward its case using imagery. It doesn't advocate a certain position towards climate change other then show the ecosystem, harmful effects created, their growing severity, probable problems, and paths for change. There is NO socialist agenda behind it, simply a path to efficient and the preservation of our ecosystem that sustains us ala http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Island#Destruction_of_the_ecosystem. The imagery speaks for the effects created. Impossible to show non effect of human energy and growth when confronted with growing economies like China, and the western economies.

The Biosphere project has been shown to be farce not conducted by actual researchers. There is no parallel comparisons. The film above actually shows credible paths to change.

That's very good to hear, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the hell out of it

And you know, I might forewarn you about some aspects of it (by this I don't mean aspects like acting (which ranges from good but over-the-top to excellent) or cinematography (which is very artistic and of Hollywood-quality)), but rather about language and story-specifics... But I won't, because these kinds of surprises were partly what drew me in.

Have fun watching! Second season starts tonight

In reply to this comment by eric3579:
I have no idea what this shows about, but your comment sold me on it. I just started downloading the first season.

In reply to this comment by EDD:
Me and the missus decided to check this show out less than a week ago and we finished watching the first season last night.

Let's just say we were in for a surprise, it was nothing like we imagined it would be, except that we'd known it would be pretty good. Saying it's 'pretty good' is an understatement though - it's definitely one of the best shows I've ever had the pleasure of watching, and I'd encourage everyone, even folks that have never liked any vampire mythology/cinema, to check it out. Also, I'm fairly certain I'll be sifting some videos of it very soon.

the cinematography is amazing compared to the crash tests they do nowadays. You can see the cameras mounted on the cars too which is cool and the camera angles are super!

Nice Saving Private Ryan jerky-cam cinematography and well acted voice-overs (for a change).
Unfortunately this says nothing about the game except they are willing to spend big for quality cinematics.

Aha - well this is all from the ingame engine (ingame cinematics) The game itself is a multiplayer game, with a single player mode setting the story - Soviet Assault extends this with the story from the Russians perspective as well as...bah, just go here at Massgate!

Earth (2009) Trailer HD - A Nature Documentary.

cybrbeast says...

Do not go to see this or buy the DVD. You are much better off, downloading or buying the HD video of the eleven-part series BBC Planet Earth. This movie is just clips from the eleven unique one hour episodes from Planet Earth edited together to make Earth the movie.

Watching those episodes of Planet Earth in high definition is amazing. They take the series from the mountains to life on the flat to the deep sea, and go from North to South. From each of the places they visit, they manage with most amazing cinematography to produce jaw dropping beautiful views of extraordinary places.
This is on of the most highest budget documentaries ever made. I can't recommend it enough.
