New Wonder Twins - Drag Race

chilaxe says...

Wikipedia:

In 2002, a series of Wonder Twins shorts appeared on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, produced by J.J. Sedelmaier Productions, who also produced the Harvey Birdman series. The shorts portrayed the Wonder Twins and Gleek as naïve and ineffectual, usually resulting in a dark-humored outcome. ...

These shorts are parodies of segments during the Super Friends animated series in which the teens acted completely on their own in dealing with minor problems, usually involving some danger encountered in the life of an average teen, such as speeding. Cartoon Network has also made several commercials parodying the Super Friends. One such commercial made fun of the ineffectiveness of Zan's powers wherein he says "I could get beaten by a sponge... it wouldn't even have to be an evil sponge!"

The only other episodes I've seen around the web are Gopher Meat, Make Out Mountain, and Joyride, which have all made it onto the sift.

Computer Animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars Teaser Trailer

Farhad2000 says...

Watching the first 3 and the last 3 movies its so easy to see how George Lucas fucked it up, the first 3 movies were more based around the story set in wonderful universe, the effects were there to flesh it out, since it used models and props everything looked aged, scratched, filled with pockmarks from repeated laser blasts. The actors were in sets as well, it was easier to imagine Anakin's home world because they actually went and filmed in the Tunisian desert, Han Solo and Chewie actually sat in a cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. There was a tangible reality to the setting and events.

The last 3 movies were more about bombastic effects & CGI wankery, I mean really what was the reason behind Jar jar or that big disgusting thing Obi Wan meets in some diner? "ILM can do fake looking annoying characters" I actually remember that off one of their interviews.

The whole story of the first 3 movies was setting up the last 3, you already knew what was going to happen. It could have been a wonderful dramatic vehicle to see how Anakin slowly turns to the Dark Side by successive loses, where the power is the seducing factor not some old creep. But even then nothing was surprising or tangible because how are actors supposed to relate to something to the backdrop of a green screen? All the principal actors are award winning, yet they looked as convincing as the CGI characters because how are you supposed to emote to directions like "There is a big monster, look scared" or "You see thousands of Stormtroopers and a huge battle is taking place". Furthermore how is it that the past ends up looking far more advanced and futuristic then the present, its like they warped back in time technologically. But that just clarifies how visual effects took importance over the story line and characters.

George Lucas was never a good director of actors, he was always great behind the scenes making the effects work, and you can see how that took precedent in the last 3 films over making the story actually work. In some instances he seemingly just gave up, especially when Liam deduced Anakin's power by simple blood test, it killed the magical mythos of what being a Jedi was, and how it was so appealing to kids. The original 3 made it seem like being a Jedi was about believing in yourself, allowing the force take root within you.

The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite Star Wars film because it dared to be black, it dared to be a wonderful fantasy fable set in the future and more so it was actually directed by someone who sought to bring life and drama to the characters and events.

The Clone Wars special on Cartoon Network were amazing, they combined high fantasy with some actual character leanings, and in my opinion actually were better then the final film, which I thought was a enormous let down. Anakin becoming Darth Vader should have been the darkest chapter, yet it was all reduced to him being told by Emperor that his girl died, he screams "Nooooooo" and then is like "Okay so now am evil".

Wait, I thought comedy central has already purchased them?

Oh wait... Fox still owns rights to the DVD sales I'm guessing.

The show is already bought by Comedy Central, and new episodes will start airing as soon as Cartoon Network's contract runs out at the end of 2007, who currently has the rights to air previous Futurama right now.

No problem. I think the Cartoon Network has something against you. Of all the copyright infringement on YT, why single out that one over, and over, and over, and......?

I absolutely agree with your last statement, lucky, however by not publicising the criteria won't that be making suspect the choice itself? There are those who might say that the site administrators (siftbot) are working some secret guerilla marketing agenda paid for by youtube, or myspace or the Cartoon Network. How can we defend our policies if we don't know what they are?

I'm just playing devil's advocate here...sorry.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast - Bobcat Goldthwait & The Ramones

rustybrooks says...

I first saw Space Ghost Coast To Coast in between real cartoons, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Cartoon Network. Maybe it was though. All I remember is, at the end of the show he said
"And remember kids, if you see someone you don't know today, tell them something about your trousers"
I was hooked.

These two interviews actually seem to be intentionally with space ghost. All the ones I saw before appeared to be fake interviews, like what Weird Al does, where he takes footage from other interviews.

Anyway, good stuff.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast - Bobcat Goldthwait & The Ramones

Farhad2000 says...

Space Ghost Coast to Coast (often abbreviated as SGC2C) is an animated spoof talk show on the cable TV channel Cartoon Network in the United States, Bravo (and its +1) in the UK, and Teletoon in Canada.

It began in 1994. The main cast comprises Space Ghost (born Tad Ghostal), a cartoon character originally from an old Hanna Barbera cartoon called Space Ghost which ran in the 1960s and early 1980s, and Zorak and Moltar, his former enemies from that show. Space Ghost is voiced by George Lowe, while C. Martin Croker voices Zorak and Moltar. Other characters include Brak, Lokar, Metallus, Black Widow, and Tansut, all of whom also made appearances in the original Hanna-Barbera series.

The fictional talk show is shot and broadcast from Space Ghost's studio on the Ghost Planet. Space Ghost also has a twin brother Chad, who is somewhat smarter but has an apparent evil streak. Luckily, he can be identified by his ever changing facial hair, macho voice, and his use of hipster slang.

Voltaire was able to land his first directing job in 1988 with MTV. He created the stop-motion tour of the hellish Garden of Earthly Delights which won several awards, one of which was a Broadcast Design Award but he is most known for his Hieronymous Bosch-inspired station ID's for MTV. He has also made morbid station IDs for clients such as Cartoon Network, USA, and the Sci-Fi channel.

Besides his work with commercials, he has made short films and series such as Rakthavira and Chi-Chian. Before that Chi-Chian started out as a graphic novel series that included 6 issues (published by Sirius Entertainment) which eventually evolved into the stop-motion animation series.
